  1. I’d play Dave. Don’t play at a club just in a society. Play off 28.
  2. Yes, I think you’re right. I think they’ve had a bit of hybrid- used for some players, while others were bought off the shelf so to speak. I know Hobson wasn’t bought using stats bomb- because I remember Unsy saying ST knew him and had been watching him. They didn’t think they could get him and went for him as soon as they found out he wanted a move back to Manchester. Norwood won’t have been bought by statsbomb for obvious reasons. Even so, I don’t think Mellon wants it at all in any form. Like you say though- be good to get that clarified as the plan or not moving forward.
  3. As well as - I know what what good looks likes. We’ve also had- I look with my eyes. I don’t think Mellon wants to choose from a pre selected computer/data list. For example - when looking for a right back, I don’t think he trusts being given a list 5 right backs when he might not know or rate four of them and he’s only left with one choice. I think he wants (and he will get) full autonomy and it will go back to old school. Basically him ringing the 2 or 3 right backs he really likes and finding the best deal for the club.
  4. I’m ambivalent towards it as a method of recruitment, just because it hasn’t worked for us doesn’t mean it can’t work full stop. Ultimately it’s just about signing good players- however you do it. My reply was just an observation that it won’t be the way Micky wants to go.
  5. We’ve had exactly that with stats bomb, and Mellon doesn’t like it, because he knows what good looks like. . and he doesn’t want to choose from a computer generated list of targets. I’ll be staggered if another incarnation of data contributing recruitment is wanted or sanctioned
  6. Do you reckon Murray was responsible for our style of play/set up?
  7. Yep, I’d assume so. Also no academy role for him.
  8. Yeah, I’d like to know more from Darren on the mistakes made with recruitment and how we’ve managed to cobble together such a lob sided squad. On the other hand, what’s the point of raking over old ground in greater detail? It’s been poor, they know it’s been poor, they’ve acknowledged it’s been poor. Probably time to draw a line.
  9. Nope. I do have proof. I do know how it works. I do know how it’s implemented. I know those things- because Darren said it publicly. He explained two seasons ago. . how it works, how it will be implemented and the potential benefits. Im then going off what Micky said multiple times in the media, about knowing what good looks like, and saying publicly the board are lovely people but they’ve made mistakes. I’m then going off what Darren said in his most recent interview where he explicitly said Mellon and the head of recruitment will look after recruitment. All of this makes perfect sense when you read and listen to what the club tells you over a period of time.
  10. Darren told us otherwise, but hey ho. Looks like Micky has got his way and they’ve binned it.
  11. That was spin, and he’s very good at it. There’s a big difference between blame - (which is negative and I would never have thought they did that anyway) and honesty and accountability. He made it clear that Mellon along with the Head of recruitment will be doing the recruitment, why say that? Why qualify it? Because it’s the result of a honest and frank discussion between Mellon and the board where mistakes have been made. (I suspect stats bomb) You can know exactly where you stand without blame. To say ‘it’s to simplistic to look at individual things’ - is really odd. It’s exactly what they should be doing and by sounds of it have done. Stats bomb wasn’t working. It must’ve had some role to play in our awful scatter gun recruitment and the club are looking to improve in all areas- by looking at individual things to make the collective more cohesive and successful.
  12. The thought of them getting promoted before us. . .
  13. Yeah, agreed. It was about acknowledging the poor season from his and the board’s point of view. Not going over Mellons comments- he alone will bear the brunt or not of that.
