  1. Interesting interview with DU after yesterdays game when asked about Peter Clarke making his 900th appearance and DU stated he had approached Clarke but he'd already committed to Walsall which suggests that was in the summer prior to the season and pretty much confirms the worst kept secret in football.
  2. The problem i've got is the hypocrisy. Last season Dean was calling for protests, boycotts etc. creating a toxic atmosphere but was adamant that those actions were not detrimental to results on the pitch. Suddenly, a few boos AFTER the match has ended and a handful of people on social media questioning either the manager, the players or the board and he is up in arms trying to blame the fans for poor results. Ryan who called in last night was absolutely spot on, whilst the owners clearly have good intentions there is no evidence yet that they are good owners, how they handle this situation on the pitch will demonstrate to us if they are good owners or not. If they don't act to remove Unsworth and we go down, it will be on them. If however, they stick with him and he is ultimately a success that will be down to them also and they will deserve a lot of credit for holding their nerve.
  3. No flies on you Paddy is there? Unfortunately, whilst your observation was correct and I made no effort to hide it, my wife's name is Martine
  4. A warm 23 degrees where I am today so don't really need a fleece on.
  5. Unsworth has said on numerous occasions he knows Darren really well and has had a good relationship for years. Now, I'm not certain, but I don't believe there is any Everton connection with Darren Royle and can only assume he got to know Darren whilst he was captaining his dad's team. They are of similar age so no doubt got to know each other and probably socialised together. All this of course would be irrelevant if Unsworth was actually winning football matches but he isn't so people will quite rightly point it out and question whether a proper process of appointing him took place given it was the worst kept secret in football that Unsworth was going to take over from Shez after the takeover.
  6. Thanks, not that you had to go to all that. So I was correct about his only previous role at a Professional football club was at Wigan.
  7. I don't really know anything about Darren, certainly not his CV but where is the evidence he's a footballing man? Other than Wigan which other professional football clubs has he worked for and in what capacity, i genuinely don't know. The roles at both Wigan and Oldham seemed to have been secured on the back of bringing the new owners to the table in the first place.
  8. It's almost like this rumour on the 2 strikers being close to signing was leaked to the Oldham Times within hours of yesterdays defeat was a smokescreen for DU inept record. Also, Nuttall turned down "an amazing offer" only weeks ago and big Dave only wants players who really want to come here and play for the badge, not money. It's like someone has hit the panic button.
  9. Your not very good at this social media thing are you? Not sure forums or any other form of debate is for you.
  10. The question now is whether our CEO shows his love for the club he says he has and sacks his mate. Where do his loyalties really lie, with the club and Frank or to his mate?
  11. Which is the point i've been making for a while when people have been saying we haven't made the best use of the loan system. It's not as easy to get an Iversen, Lang, Surridge etc in the National League as it has been previously.
  12. No i understood what you meant but top young players from Premiership clubs tend to go out of loan at Championship or League 1 level.
  13. Why? Surely if they are one of Evertons best young players they will be pitched in at a higher level than the National League? I don't buy this clubs will do us a favour and these young players all have agents now who may object. Could be wrong of course.
  14. Agree with the majority of this except it sometimes takes longer than a month for them to get to grips with the physical demand. McAlmont took at least 3 months, a lot of people wrote him off early doors and then from about December he was arguably our best player till the end of the season.
  15. I'm sure somebody put that Roberts and Wellens had gone back but not sure, I don't think the club have said they have.
  16. I'm assuming Salford were prepared to pay up a percentage of his contract for this to happen but even so i'm led to believe he's on north of £250k having dropped down from the Championship so it's hardly surprising we've not managed to do a deal. Would we not be better possibly paying a transfer fee for some young up and coming talent from the non-leagues who may well prove to be a sellable asset in the future? Personally i'm glad the board has blocked this deal because there would certainly be no resale value on Smith.
  17. https://www.theoldhamtimes.co.uk/sport/23125519.oldham-athletic-market-new-signings/ He says he will never stop wanting to bring in new players, surely at some point we need to think about getting some out even it means paying them up. He's no chance of keeping them happy and I remember a former manager, it might have been Wellens or Dino saying something about training was impossible because we had too many players on the training ground. I think we should maybe add 1 or 2 more if they are much better than what we have got and in the right positions but then he needs to get improvement out of the squad before being allowed anymore in. Feels a bit like if he throws enough mud some will stick.
  18. Only a 5 game swing - that's 15 points and its November! by the time its February it will be 30 points at this rate. And whilst you are pointing it out it's only a 5 game swing, it might be worth noting we've only 4 all season and Unsworth has only won 1!
  19. Speaking of DR and the board, it would be nice to hear from them with an update or a plan, be nice if they could address the whole fan base via the official outlets as well rather than doing a pre-recorded interview with the pod.
  20. It's ok for the podcast, Andy is zen about it all and has reassured us we are in a better place and it will come good so doubt DR has been grilled.
  21. Clarke could help us keep 5 clean sheets and we might still not win
  22. If we don't win any of the next 5 the rumblings will get louder and now there will be cries for Clarke so it wouldn't surprise me. Let's hope results pick up and it doesn't come to that but very rarely do owners ignore the fans once they start shouting for a managers head regardless of contract or if they are mates.
  23. It's a good signing. I don't think the fact his legs might have gone will be an issue if we sit deep, he will organise, put his head in where it hurts and rally everyone in the dressing room. I would be slightly concerned if I was Unsworth though, because if results don't pick up there's a ready made caretaker manager in there now.
