  1. Which is the point i've been making for a while when people have been saying we haven't made the best use of the loan system. It's not as easy to get an Iversen, Lang, Surridge etc in the National League as it has been previously.
  2. No i understood what you meant but top young players from Premiership clubs tend to go out of loan at Championship or League 1 level.
  3. Why? Surely if they are one of Evertons best young players they will be pitched in at a higher level than the National League? I don't buy this clubs will do us a favour and these young players all have agents now who may object. Could be wrong of course.
  4. Agree with the majority of this except it sometimes takes longer than a month for them to get to grips with the physical demand. McAlmont took at least 3 months, a lot of people wrote him off early doors and then from about December he was arguably our best player till the end of the season.
  5. I'm sure somebody put that Roberts and Wellens had gone back but not sure, I don't think the club have said they have.
  6. I'm assuming Salford were prepared to pay up a percentage of his contract for this to happen but even so i'm led to believe he's on north of £250k having dropped down from the Championship so it's hardly surprising we've not managed to do a deal. Would we not be better possibly paying a transfer fee for some young up and coming talent from the non-leagues who may well prove to be a sellable asset in the future? Personally i'm glad the board has blocked this deal because there would certainly be no resale value on Smith.
  7. https://www.theoldhamtimes.co.uk/sport/23125519.oldham-athletic-market-new-signings/ He says he will never stop wanting to bring in new players, surely at some point we need to think about getting some out even it means paying them up. He's no chance of keeping them happy and I remember a former manager, it might have been Wellens or Dino saying something about training was impossible because we had too many players on the training ground. I think we should maybe add 1 or 2 more if they are much better than what we have got and in the right positions but then he needs to get improvement out of the squad before being allowed anymore in. Feels a bit like if he throws enough mud some will stick.
  8. Only a 5 game swing - that's 15 points and its November! by the time its February it will be 30 points at this rate. And whilst you are pointing it out it's only a 5 game swing, it might be worth noting we've only 4 all season and Unsworth has only won 1!
  9. Speaking of DR and the board, it would be nice to hear from them with an update or a plan, be nice if they could address the whole fan base via the official outlets as well rather than doing a pre-recorded interview with the pod.
  10. It's ok for the podcast, Andy is zen about it all and has reassured us we are in a better place and it will come good so doubt DR has been grilled.
  11. Clarke could help us keep 5 clean sheets and we might still not win
  12. If we don't win any of the next 5 the rumblings will get louder and now there will be cries for Clarke so it wouldn't surprise me. Let's hope results pick up and it doesn't come to that but very rarely do owners ignore the fans once they start shouting for a managers head regardless of contract or if they are mates.
  13. It's a good signing. I don't think the fact his legs might have gone will be an issue if we sit deep, he will organise, put his head in where it hurts and rally everyone in the dressing room. I would be slightly concerned if I was Unsworth though, because if results don't pick up there's a ready made caretaker manager in there now.
  14. I know that but one person still had to fund playing the whole season behind closed doors and 4 months of the previous season with little funding. Plus, we actually had a pretty decent strikeforce that wasn't the cheapest albeit we did have the worst defence ever (until this season that is)
  15. They didn't try to kill the club, and i'm only defending the nonesense that we were days from going under. It's bollox that.
  16. Liquidating the club would actually have helped Blitz to finish off the asset stripping. It wasn't in their interest to see the club go under and we had sold more than 1k season tickets so that's not true either. Remember they kept the club going through Covid with no gates at all and i know there was some grants but it wasn't much, think it totalled about £500k
  17. Were we days from oblivion? I must have missed all the winding up petitions and Court orders.
  18. Tbf according to the Oldham Times, Unsworth said we can keep on extending it month by month, not sure how that works if he does really well and an EFL club comes sniffing though.
  19. I wonder how much Dorking offered for Norman? It's ok everyone saying we should have took the offer but unless we can get someone else in, it's the correct thing to do to turn it down. We can't rely of Leutweiller and a kid as back up. We should have got Renshaw back from Curzon when we had the chance a year ago.
  20. We can't get rid of the deadwood if we only bring in players for a month.
