Went to the Curzon Fylde game tonight with Latics not playing, so got a chance to see Haughton in a competitive game.

Arrived a couple of mins late so missed his goal

Definitely brings some quality on the ball, decent dribbler and looks for a pass

We would definitely have to completely change the way we play though if we signed him. His defensive work rate didn't look too high, and he had a bit of a free role to move between a classic 10 position, LM, and LW. We've been quite rigid under DU with everyone sticking to positions, so wouldn't really suit his game currently.

    He's been scoring for fun,

Some league 1 or 2 club will no doubts already be thinking about prising him away

Why would you get rid of someone who is producing top 3 PPG this year?

With Wrexham and hopefully Notts both gone,

Dave can continue this good form, stuff Dale both home and away and guide us back to the promised land.

Yes, it's only right he gets the opportunity

We shall see. Its the form we are currently showing  not sure why you think it won't continue

Think he's overspent his budget and I have a feeling he won't be getting anywhere near as much in his 2nd season.

Ofcourse, I hope you're right and I'm way off the mark

Some embarrassing positions being taken. New years day I was ready for him to go. I said it was time he was sacked. Since then I've changed my mind with the results we have got

We shall see at the start of the new season

I still maintain with Unsworth,  we'll be having the exact same debate halfway through it

Is it not time now to ease back on the Unsworth debate?

I think we have established that:

    1. He is not going anywhere
    2. He has the backing of the board
    3. He has a decent support infrastructure with his assistants John Ebbrell and Francis Jeffers plus a head of recruitment in Steve Thompson
    4. He will be allowed to bring in a number of new (better) players for next season
    5. There will be a significant number of players moving on from the club
    6. He will have a B team set up to assist with giving squad players competitive game time

With the above in mind, surely the debate should now be parked until early next season? We all have our opinions on the relative merits of the manager (with one exception in @Dave_Og) and all have by now expressed that opinion - so maybe lets park it for a while?

I'll say no more on the subject but woe betide he doesn't have us challenging next season

Could be a bloody expensive experiment if you chuck time and resources and someone and they turn out not to be successful..

I couldn't be more in favour of consistency, but while instant success is unreasonable, something - anything - to suggest a manager is worth time and resources is important.  I think the infrastructure that's been put in place at the club might be masking how well Unsworth is doing.  Would a Darren Kelly, Keith Curle or even Selim done any worse this season?

I'm happy to take the risk of him being successful elsewhere!

Unsworth has been given free reign here and has obviously cost Frank and co a mint with all his sidekicks and signing's

Trouble is, we're still way off in terms of matching most of the smaller club's where it matters most.

If he can hit the ground running from the very start of the new season, all well and good but he's already used up 8 of his 9 lives as far as I'm concerned and a decision would have to be made sooner rather than later, in order that we're not marooned here any longer than is necessary.

No worries, it's almost like who's your favourite James Bond based on who you grew up with or favourite Star Wars movies. If anyone is interested it's Roger Moore and Empire Strikes Back.

I have another one,  the term Club Legend is used far too loosely.

Roger Moore was too old to play Bond,

Creepy if you ask me, although I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for 'The spy who loved me'

Have to say that The last Bond has turned out to be the best of all and he's a short arse,

Loved all the original star wars.

Back to kits, we could just say sod it and go Green Bovis for old times sake 🤢
