It's not a warm welcoming indoor space. It's a like converted garage, partially open to the elements. I understand the capitalism/commercial enterprise in renting out floor/office space..... but with so much of it unused, I find it disgraceful that the landlords/owners of the broadway building can't find it within themselves to be benevolent to little ones who deserve better. It could even benefit the OEC Ltd as more folk would use the building and they could generate more revenue/income. It's where business gets in THE way of basic humanity... and I'd like them to have a think about it when they're with their own families.

Let's not also forget however that the VOLUNTEERS who used to run the Junior Latics/Boundary Blues club and lounge facilities etc. have long since been pushed out of the picture by the club itself and the community trust. Volunteers were once a valuable part of the fabric of this club until the little self-important people decided they were no longer required. Hence the reason the tuck shop in the RRE has been closed every time my kids have tried to use it int he last few home matches.

In fairness the pitch lasted much better than the last couple of seasons and was far from the worst we've seen - been told the works planned this time are more extensive than last so we should see a further improvement.

Helped massively by the fact we didn't play on it for the thick end of a month while we had the bad weather / beasts from the east etc.

Based on the still, the correct decision would appear to be free kick and red card.

The still is to simply highlight where the infringement took place. To make a call on the red card decision you need to have seen the build up to the infringement itself and decide whether there was intent and on whose part.

    Yes thanks.

Seems to be a lot of folk on here who just can't accept that what Maddison did is legal, part of the game and Wilson shoved him. I'll grant there's a slight debate on if it's in or out the box. The ball is certainly in the box. He arguably isn't. There will be no appeal though. Rightly so.

It doesn't matter a jot where the ball is, the initial 'offence' takes place outside of the box, no debate, it's right there in front of your eyes. Wilson's arms come as the lad steps across him. If it 'was' a foul it should have been a free kick on the edge of the box, but the red card is laughable!

If you look at the picture Dan has posted, see Maddison's body position, it's totally unnatural.  It would have been totally unnexpected that he would do that, Wilson's arms would have come up instinctively.  Not trying to excuse him here, I just think that's what anyone would do if someone jumped in front of you like that.  Once there's a touch, Maddison plants his feet together too, again it's in that picture, which again, is totally unnatural.  It's a dive.  Just because Wilson touched him on the back it doesn't mean he shoved him to the floor.  It's a contact sport.  Again, the debate for me is whether we appeal his red card, and I think we should do based on all this.

Sadly I fear there is no point appealing the decision as despite evidence to the contrary, the FA won't go against their referees where it's marginal/borderline. The attacker didn't dive as such, he simply stepped across the defender and allowed their momentum to take him down.

Whilst morally we probably should appeal, realistically there's no probably no point.

I have had a closer look. 3 times on replay. From a better angle than I saw it from in the North Stand. To which I thought at the time, definite pen and red card.

The attacker has already stepped across Wilson at this point, halting his run and has got his arms up in the standard "about to be shot by a sniper" stance. The offence is clearly OUTSIDE of the box.

As I say, I can see why the ref gave it in real time but he was mugged off big time by the attacker.

Wow...can't believe some people are trying to say it's not a penalty. No wonder we have fans who think we have a shit ref every week. I must imagine Wilson putting his hands on their lads back then :rolleyes::rolleyes: You give the man a shove....you've got absolutely ZERO defence when the red card comes out.

Any attempt to get the red card rescinded will cost us £1000 (the standard amount to appeal) and get an increase in ban for a frivolous appeal. No thanks!

I can see why the ref gave it but you need to have a closer look at the offence before rubbishing others opinions. Yes Wilson puts his arm up of their players back, but the attacker TOTALLY played for it and had already halted his run to step across Wilson and had his arms outstretched ready for a triple salchow BEFORE he was in the box.

Shez has said we need to score goals, clean sheets won't keep us up now.

If this allows us to bring in two footballing midfielders it could be the right move.

    This.

We could keep a clean sheet in every single game from now until the end of the season and we'd still go down if we don't start scoring.

I'd like us to keep Clarke in an ideal world but we need to start winning regularly and we haven't looked like doing that all season with the current personnel.

  9. When I joined the old JK Latics years ago I was stuck for a username. Staring out of the window while trying to think of one I could see the two Tamar bridges here in Saltash,

Hence the name, I was too bone idle to think of anything else.

Well bugger me, there's a name you don't see very often. Hope all is good with you and her ;-)

  10. HMRC don't issue winding-up orders on a whim. Either the tax was substantially overdue or we're serial offenders.

The most worrying aspect is the timing. It's clear that we've failed to pay a crown debt despite the incoming season ticket money. Proof if ever it was needed that we're plugging holes left, right and centre.

Spot on Johnny. I got flamed on here by some last month for posting what I'd heard re the club being put into admin when all the Shez to Notts County rumours started circulating. Now it seems that actually there WAS a winding up petition/order in place last month! Wonder if the Shez compo offset that particular liability?

It's about time people woke up and realised what's happening to the club. We've been living hand to mouth for months/years, and the next winding up order or unpaid bill won't be far away!

  11. The Notts County link changes things in my opinion because it takes the situation away from the notion that he is just being linked with bigger clubs he has an affinity with, that would be tempting to anyone in his position.

This speaks of a man so desperate to leave that he's willing to take a job where his hands are tied by a transfer embargo at a club that won't be giving him a big budget when they can't pay their existing bills.

It begs the question, what is so bad about his situation at Latics that he wants to jump ship to anyone who'll have him?

This was my train of thought, and then I remembered the admin rumour. What is it about the situation at OAFC that would drive him to accept an offer with a hamstrung division 4 club?

Whatever the reason, it's very worrying in my opinion.

  12. Was just going to post the same thing..... I think the last time it was posted was this time last year as well.

We've not had the Forte's retiring with knee trouble yet though

Fellas, I said I dismissed it as utter bollocks at the time and hadn't given it a second thought until I saw the Shez to Notts County rumours. Leeds or even Bolton I could almost understand from a football perspective, but Notts County?! Really?!

  13. I've not read back through this whole topic - I barely post on here these days, but on the final Sunday of the season I went for a pint after the game and my brother in law told me that he had been told by a solicitor he knows, that the club would be put into administration very shortly (like within a week or two).

I dismissed this as a load of bollocks at the time and haven't really thought about it since, but this Notts County rumour makes it seem far more plausible in my mind.

It wouldn't be a surprise at all if Shez is applying for any/all jobs if he knows the ship is sinking. You could hardly blame the bloke either.

    Hope it's not true though.

  14. -Hard-nose, bollocks-squeezing centre-half

-Reunite the Jones and Kelly partnership. :censored: Fulton off.

-Murphy return. A player with confidence and form.

-Cassidy return. A player who had confidence and form.

-Goalkeeper that can catch a ball.

-Some leadership at the top of the club, in the management and on the pitch

Definitely agree with the bits in bold. And I'd bring Murphy back if possible but there are a number of factors to consider there. Cassidy (and Forte) will be back when ready/fit. Nothing the club/manager can do about that at the minute.

Beyond that we need to look at the full backs. The RB slot has been an issue for a while and Mills is currently as poor an excuse for a player as I've seen for a long time.

And what has happened to Croft? Why has he ballooned? If that's a lack of professionalism take him to Tandle Hill Park and run him til he throws up every day until he shapes up.
