  1. You could say that but you'd be wrong in my view. All the big teams took the league cup seriously then. Arsenal played a full strength team against us etc...we made loads of money which along with the FA Cup propelled us to promotion the season after. Winning the FA Trophy wouldn't do that...
  2. He selected a team to prevent our main players getting injured. A sensible decision. We're bad enough without losing key players ..
  3. If that's true then the crowd are out of order... today's result isn't exactly a surprise is it?
  4. Mouldy Old Dough for me too. That and Singing the Blues by Guy Mitchell just evokes memories of going to my first Oldham games in 1981 as a young kid with the smell of cigarettes, Bovril and alcohol in the air. I'd cling onto the fence in the main stand paddock and fell in love with football and Oldham. It might be a bit naff now but Everton, Leeds etc all have their own dodgy tunes that they play every home game.
  5. My failed attempt at irony. I posted the same score last Saturday in reply to Paddy when he posted his usual over optimistic 'we'll stuff them' post.. I actually thought we'd manage a win today...(which we just about did in the end)
  6. He should have more importantly remembered he has a Manager who obviously doesn't like having the piss taken out of him....
  7. Didn't look it to me but even if it was they'd of scored more. They were so much better than us.
  8. I'd be looking to off load next month and spend the money saved on the obvious areas of the team that need strengthening as we should have done in the summer....
  9. Yep. Hanging on for dear life for the majority of the first half and lucky to be 1 up. We got what we deserved 2nd half.
  10. They were a class above us but let's remember we are absolute shite and make every team that comes to Boundary Park look world class..
  11. Yeah he was good that season. Problem was that when he got injured we didn't have enough cover.
  12. and we loaned Peter Clarke to Bury in the January of that season as well. I wonder if that was down to Wellens or Abdallah? That certainly didn't help. When Gerrard got injured it left us with two young kids as our centre halfs (Edmundson and Hamer) who weren't really up to it...
