  1. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Oldham_Athletic_A.F.C._managers#Statistics

In the 8 seasons Mark Robins has been in charge at Coventry (at least three in turmoil) they now sit prettily in the championship while we have managed 18 managers and two relegations and turmoil. I have no idea how he plays or what his tatics are but he wasnt always a favorite of the supporters. We have has Shez the messiah, Shez the dinosaur, Shez in Shez out Shez shake it all about. Selim and Mr Big Arms Tunisias finest! They cant all have been as shit as we gave them time for. We need to see what happens when Unsworth learns his trade properly. Personally I think its miles to soon to pull the trigger. We have a team that most are contracted till the end of next season. No one dies if we dont get promoted its really not that important in the grand scheme of things, time is something we have. patience clearly something we need to learn.

  2. I reckon we have forgotten how to support a manager and team, I mean we seem to go through a manager every three months. Worked well hasnt it, lets keep at it, lets sack Unsworth and get a manager in we can ALL be behind despite results .... What there isnt one ?? Surely we would be happy with losing 5-4 every week. What else we can do is blame the scorer of the equaliser for 100 people running on the pitch, Im sure the instruction from hom was clear .... lets push the oppo goalkeeper to the ground and start a fight with the chesterfield fans. Lets wave our arms at the one person who deserves absolutely nothing but hero worship and tell him how to do his job as and owner of a football club. Lets do it on front of the TV cameras so we can proudly be identified as supporters of a football club. I thought it was just Mancherster United fans who think they have a devine right to win every match. We are a division 5 football team and we are there like it or not because we have sacked manager after manager with fans berating them and individual players or both.

I am NOT advocating medeocracy and I am not accepting substandard performances nor do I expect to win every game. There is no excuse for the supporter behavior on Saturday that will ever sit right with me. I feel for you as it appears to be the norm to want to drive people out of the club and its well practised for the las 15 years. Maybe that should change rather than the manager or strikers or Shelton and Sheron.

As for the match ... We had a good first 45 mins and sat back a bit too much in the second but we drew, we got a point. Were we great? nope, were we shit, nope other than on the terraces in the last mins.

  3. Whilst I dont disagree with either of you, we are three games into a season so another 43 to go and who says we wont be there at the end. I expect to be there or there abouts and we have yet to see our strogest team out there. The las year has been one long unsworth in/out debate ,,, Nutall is shite....... Sheron/Shelton ... Norman gete beat by every long range shot. Clamour for Gardner ... creativity there is always something WRONG. We all have eyes and unfortunately whatever target individuals give the club and board will decide on the appropriate action and Im happy with that. The gallows humour I loved about football has proctically been replaced by the boos and scapegoating.... There is obvious passion for the club ... just channel it positively towards the 'team'

  4. No one really knows what happens for the other 40 hours of Unsworths week. Just the 90 or 180 mins on the pitch and Saturday was the benchmark not Tuesday. Unsworth does appear on face value to not be able to adapt to certain situations and occasionallt contradicts himself in the media. We all read the same stuff coming from Everton, we all saw last seasons inability before christmas and improvements after it. Three games in it looks a bit bleak but calling for the managers head and insinuating nepatism is just extreme. Where I think we fall despite his pitch performance Hogan is the least vocal captian I can remenber, he is the one who should be pushing the back line 10 yards up and yelling at the midfield when sideways passing. We have been unlucky with injuries, hopefully we will be up for the fight on Saturday for the world to see. I can easily see why people are disgruntled with the manager and certain players ..... Im tired of sacking managers, I just want to watch football, debate the result, drink and go to bed...... we are going to lose games ... were going to win games and I would love us to get promoted but it isnt the be all and end all for this season.

  5. I WANT David Unsworth to succeed and I WANT to see us regularly playing like we did on Saturday. I WANT a team that work together and to commit to the cause. I WANT to see us play to our stengths and dominate possesion at home. I WANT the players on the pitch to have the ability to find a team mate with a pass. I WANT a team thet will justly reward the Rothwells for the gamble he has taken with us and I WANT the Athleticos and the kids that are coming to matches to feel like I did in the late 80s early 90s.

I also want a three way with Jenifer Lawrence and Hayley Atwell, a fleet of high performance cars, a new house and executive relief every morning before work.

As an alternative keep Unsworth and replace Ebrell with a more progressive coach/assistant and see if that brings any dividend.

  6. I think the 'late' keeper change had a mild effect on the back 4, Freeman and Dickenson wont have played 90m in three days in quite some time so I expected leggy with experience taking over. Both me and my son (who was in a different stand) did not expect to see Tollit start the second half. The referee was abysmal (not to blame) but the challenge on Fondop was a red and a penalty all day every day. On Saturday we hit them with quick precise passing .... last night the idea was there but the execution was not....... Im not commenting about the subs being late and I have no idea why we signed Kurt if we keep him to 5 min cameos when 5-1 up.

After Saturdays Southend shenanigans I shall be hopefully watching from a pub in Belfast prior to the annual homecoming gig by Belfasts finest Stiff Little Fingers if I can find one showing it.

No matter what the result is you are absolutely certain to have a brilliant uplifting  evening unlike Latics SLF never let you down.

  8. I might be wrong ... but it looks to me that these signings (Norwood especially) coupled with the possible RB means we may not stay one dimensional. Imagine what Willoughby and Reid can learn from him. He brought a togetherness at Barnsley (according to TTV) on and off the pitch. Maybe it that kind of mentality that will galvinise thje other players. Last season I was more shocked when we won than when we lost, this will be the most interesting and engaging season since... well a long time. I cant wait for Aldershot, there willl be 9-10k crammed into BP I hope we make it count!!!!

  9. Playing devils advocate here but .... He certainly has the backing of the board, he has said his budget is fair but he has used it to good effect (on paper). We have yet to utilise the loan market and that is good news and we have a core of players locked in to the next two seasons. Thats pretty much how a well run operates, we just have not had it for such a long time. One of my children has never seen even a playoff game live let alone a promotion but he has seen doom and gloom and a relegation or two chucked in. This season he may get to see the team challenge for the the top three, if the season ends and we dont go up, so what, the players will still be here and we wont be rebuilding most of a team and there is an extra place up for grabs (reportedly) next season. We will all still be here having the same debates next season, lets not be our own worst enemies as supporters this season ... not singling out, but suppoerting all the players. Youve seen the FB ost of what the players see on their way out onto the pitch ...... then look at the grounds and surroundings of the other teams, we can make it a fortress again.

  10. From 30 March, we went on a seven match unbeaten run, dropping just one point, culminating in four straight wins over the Easter period (sixteen goals for, one against). After the 6-0 home win against Huddersfield on 20 April

That was my first ever Latics game, my sister took me as an 8 year old. I didnt go again until 11 years later, hardly missed a game then apart from the long haul away games (couldnt afford em) for and age then my best frieng and Latics partner buggered off to the states to work. Two of my 4 boys are season ticket holders now along with my Grandson.

  11. Im looking forward to a busy 7 days as Contracts are up ... I would love a Yarmey U turn (but cant see it) I can see a right back (maybe 2) and another midfielder and two loans (a centre Half and left back). Were only just over a week away from seeing what they can do as team, witness the style of football. The one thing I dont expect this season is being overrun in midfield this should make us harder to beat than last year. Our motto for the coming season is fear no one, play to our stregth and see how that works for us.
