Loads near me the whole game

Whereas by me there were people standing in the aisle all the way up. Really irritating when you'd ordered an aisle seat.

Kinda sums up the issues with the stewarding as at every other ground I've been to including Spotland in the past the aisles have rightly been kept clear.

I doubt there were extras in the stand and while there might have been the odd person who didn't turn up or couldn't get rid of their spare ticket. Every seat was supposed to be taken but it clearly wasn't especially when the allocated seats went out the window the moment I got there "Sit anywhere".

  2. Good listen as always. Got to the point where they talk about Unsworth and Mellon’s ages. It is 18 months difference, Unsworth turned 50 last week and Mellon is 51.

Yeah I was shocked when I first found that out too as like @lookersstandandy said it feels like Mellon is a bit older as he’s been round the block and won a few times, and Unsworth feels a bit younger than that as he has only been managing kids at various teams.

Not a surprise. Standard statement after any away game with pyro and/or a pitch invasion.

I hope as part of their investigation the GMP look in the mirror and at Taurus.

  4. Because this is a bit of tangent I didn't want to add it to my previous post.

But looking back on the footage yesterday, I'm not sure why those looking for trouble don't wear masks as it makes them less identifiable? It is a lot more normalised now thanks to the Rona.

This is despite the fact it would probably cause me significantly more aggro as one of the few people who still wears a mask in crowded situations or enclosed spaces.

from what l saw it appeared they left the Latics section and went over the pitch to engage. l havent seen that for years

the Latics fan gettin mullered at the other end in the standing section landed a top dig early doors.

police were poor and then to top it off tbey took control of a large number of our fans (mosy of whom wanted to go the other way back to their cars) and walked them straigbt into an ambush

There was 3 in the Sandy Lane end who appeared to be holding off their kiddy firm by themselves. The bloke in the light blue/grey jacket gave at least 2 or 3 stiff shots to the head.

The stewarding was woefully inadequate, they seemed to be a lot more complacent than I would expect. I walked straight through the 2 stewards to get in without getting searched or my bag searched (but I was earlier than I would normally be). The standing in the aisles, at the front and in the vomitories was ridiculous. Fans at the front were openly drinking in the stands. Although that's a daft law that needs eliminating, or enforcing at all major events.

The policing when it did finally arrive was overkill and not well organised. 2nd half they had a load of police in riot gear at the Sandy Lane end, as that's where the trouble WAS. However with us kicking the other way it was clear that police might be needed at the other end.

Not sure what happened at the end as I was one of the last leaving the ground. But that didn't seem well organised either. If GMP are going to prevent Oldham fans going one way then they should do the same for Rochdale fans, especially when 50% of the crowd was Oldham. In the future they should also think about it in advance, so Oldham fans should park in one direction and Dale fans should park the other way.

I’m just saying, it just wasn’t myself who heard nothing, many around me was saying the same thing and was quite bemused by what was going on

Oh I believe you, and I think the most likely scenario is he misheard something as being racist.

That being said if an Oldham fan did racially abuse him then I hope the club and GMP throw the book and the kitchen sink at them.

However if the player has made it up, him and everyone else at Dale who has repeated it should publicly apologise and the FA / National League should give serious consideration to banning him for TBD games

I was sat 2 yards from this and never heard nobody say anything, yet 5mins later when booing him,he stuck his tongue out and was laughing at everyone!! 🤷🏻‍♂️

TBH if I'd had been racially abused by a fan at a football game that might be my reaction next time I was in that vicinity too.

Of course as with Adeyemi at Anfield it could be a simple mishearing and he heard Dale (or some other term Oldham associate with Dale) c**t as opposed to something racist.

Until you've been abused in a public setting by complete strangers you don't know how you'd react. As someone who was heavily abused on social media when I had my 15 minutes, the only one I reacted to was the one who identified the fact.

I'd find it incredible if people were castigating Sutton, he's doing his best in a position he shouldn't be playing. It's absolutely ludicrous that he's still playing it though, it's been nearly a year and the problem should have been fixed by the club. If Freeman isn't in the answer for whatever reason, another one needs to be found.

Sutton can be judged as a CB, a position where he has generally always impressed.

His spell at RB should make him a better CB too.

Their 3rd goal was caused by a Kitching error but teams recognise Sutton is our weakness and focus their attacks down that side.

l also found out my recent stoke has left me with epilepsy but that just means l now know what Pregablin is 🤣🤣

@rudemedic   does this all add up or ia my doc jus lookin for excuses fo see me?

pregabs for epilepsy has raiaed some eyebrows..

There are more qualified people on here to advise you but a quick look at the NICE guidance (which they are updating as I type) says pregabalin is fine for epilepsy but there are some issues that probably don't apply, hence why it is not often used.

PS if it gets to 3 weeks for your black eye you need to see your GP.

About 35 minutes. Get to see the main sights of Rochdale (the Aldi and the Asda)

Google maps says 40 minutes, but that does take you past the away end to the main entrance. Google maps often underestimates walking times too. So 35 minutes is probably about right

When you think we had to endure Lois Maynard from St. Kitts & Nevis it's almost criminal!!

Maynard’s from Cheetham Hill. Bit difficult to say no you can’t play football for a team based down the road, just because you happen to play internationally for a crap Caribbean team.

Don't get me wrong, i hated them! In fact it gives me great pleasure that we had that team of theirs by the b***ocks. It was undoubtedly a great side and the fact we were narrowly beaten 3-2 at Old Trafford and were then within a minute of beating them at Wembley 6 days later was a fantastic achievement. You can appreciate good sides whilst not liking them you know.

Oh Yes, you can but not them. Never them.

Irish players were considered overseas players when there was a restriction in European competitions. One of the reasons the United team from the mid 90s didn't win the Champions league imo, because i felt the 94 team was better than the treble winning side but the likes of Irwin and Keane were considered as overseas so they never were able to get their full strength side out. Anyway, scrap my suggestion of Denis!

UEFA considered Welsh players (and Scottish) to be overseas for English clubs for a period.

Quite rightly too, especially as it stopped United winning.

Are you even a proper Oldham fan if you can compliment the 1994 Man United team? Very sus, as the kids say.

Christian Calusso was born 1977 and spent 4 months on loan at Latics in 2002. 13 games and 2 goals one of which was last minute at Bury.

We did have another Argentinian in 1993 I remember seeing him play at Liverpool. Can't remember his name.

Are you thinking of Orpheo Keizerweerd as he was from Suriname.

Ref on Saturday is James Westgate from Sunderland who is taking only his 4th game at this level after being promoted. In his previous 3 games he's booked 15 players.

Surely they could have found a more experienced official for a local derby or did they want a repeat of last year's horrendous performance from a rookie versus Halifax. 👎

Apparently it is his 6th game at this level.

Given quite a few good refs only spend a year at this level I'm less worried about experience in referees than I used to be.

Perhaps this should be in the National League thread but seen as though there was talk of him in here...

Mike Williamson straight in at 1/6 for the MK Dons job after Graham Alexander sacked.

Odd aren't usually that short when the book first opens!

They'll go for Robinson again surely...

    They've gone for Williamson.

Quite a short turnaround given Williamson had a job, perhaps a little bit too short.
