  1. A recurring theme in this thread is fthe loyal Latics fan who now sits there not bothered.about what is happening on the pitch. The opposition score so what. I think the Chesterfield defeat knocked the stuffing out of a lot of the remaining die ard fans probably more so than knocking down the lookers. we have lost so many loyal fans as a result of the lookers being knocked down.Friendships are formed a football club/stand is much more than bricks and mortar and part of the heart of the club was ripped out. I don't t think to be fair anyone realised at the time how much of the heart was ripped out.We are on a downward spiral financial damage limitation exercise pervades every decision,we are in controlled administration by TTA,who can blame them.Simon is not the onlyTTA left standing he is their Aministrator, make no bones about it.We are in administration.Paul and his team are doing their best in the circumstances the problems run far deeper.Basically TTA got into something that was too big for their pockets.

  2. No chance unfortunately the economic situation and the BP matchday experience is against us and once they get out of the habit of going week in week out it is doubly difficult to get them back.To be fair didn't hear the usual moans from the occasional fans, although the gutsy footballing performance gave even the most diehard pessemist little room for complaint.

  3. Like you say perhaps there was a legitamate reason for not being able to sell the product there and then. However, did the the salesperson use some people skills and 'come back in 30 minutes and we'll be set to sell', or take the customers number to let them know when stock is available so that he/she feels loved haha. The trouble is most shop workers are paid little over minimun wage so hardly a motivation to be pro-active. I guess it really boils down to the person dealing with your request.

Could be down to the person. but ultimately the lack of customer service comes from the top executive, you find that is where the agenda comes from. Probably has no discretion and thought if I sell this I will get a bollocking

  4. I really hope that it makes someone think again when they're about to unleash a vile tirade of abuse at one of our own players for the terrible crime of merely not be too good of a footballer. Life is far too short to have a misplaced pass raise the blood pressure to uncomfortable levels. By all means, bitch, moan and curse the lack of concentration, but let's never see the ugly fingerpointing and nasty abuse we saw at Barnsley ever again.

I agree, the Barnsley incident sprung to my mind when I heard the news. Life is too short for such abuse. To be fair tonight the players were generally treated with respect, perhaps the boo boys have given up going.

    RIP Richard

  5. At a recent Business Breakfast meeting hosted by the Chron, attended by AH, the Editor explained how the Chron were trying to put a positive spin on the Oldham news. He was also upbeat how they had reported on Latics over the last 12 months. Perhaps they did put a negative spin on postponements etc, but aren't these the words of AH , he hasn't retracted them. Indeed tonight the chron have gone overboard with a very positive slant on the recent Charity Commission ruling. In my opinion this is a very small step not "clearing a major hurdle" as reported in the Chron. At least we are now getting on the front page of the Chron and as any good PR agent knows "there isn't such a thing as bad news"

  6. In all business situations time is the key. At the moment this is the situation with Latics. If, and it is a big if, Failsworth is to be the saviour, time is burning a big hole in the pockets. As every month of delay goes by the financial black hole gets bigger and something needs to be done. I would support a meeting involving the council, not just someone in the Failsworth ward, but someone in Cabinet with real executive influence. At the end of the day many clubs have had support from their local council using public money and I know the structure is local, but public money whicever way you look at it is our money. The Oldham Council has much to answer for in the decline and almost total absence of leisure and sporting facilities in the town and they aren't getting any better at it. Latics is almost the last man standing and I imagine the Directors are punch drunk with it all. So maybe we do need to step in and generate some action. The delays, obstacles and lack of support over the last 15 years have led to this crippling situation and unfortunately we need support when the economy is on its knees. With all the job losses Oldham Council will have other priorities.

What makes the situation sadder is that we have better performances on the pitch which given some outside investment/help could re-kindle things.

  7. Club can't have a ground in Rochdale due to FA rules whether that is right or wrong it is a fact.

Fortunately the way the team are playing and the youth set up are the most positive things happening within the club at the moment. Lets hope that his encourages some hard core football investment that can put the Football Club and its infrastructure on a sound footing. The rest of the club:Ground;communication at an adult level with fans;new ground plans; funding and marketing are a joke.
