  1. In my dreams. Once played on the plastic pitch. Beat a team from Stretford 2:1 in the Wednesday League. Imagined I was Ronnie Blair bombing down the wing from full back. Got took off at half time coz I was crap! Happy days!!
  2. I once stopped using my 4 iron for a month. I had developed a terrible hook!! Is that what you mean?
  3. So was I. Thought he played very steadily and covered well for the back line when required. Gregan is the club captain and has his own column in the programme. He should be allowed to express his thoughts and if we don't like it we can reply through such areas as this forum. I am sure that some of the players read it to see how we are feeling. With regard to Hazell, I heard he hadn't played for over a month prior to Satdi. Is this true? if it is then he played very very well Satdi...
  4. That is precisely what I said. I expect to be entertained. I am a season ticket holder and sit amongst the grumpy old farts in the main stand. I have served my apprenticeship in the open ended RRE singing and chanting with the best of them. I graduated to the Chaddy Road end where I continued the singing and chanting until we became all seating. I now feel that its for the team to enthuse and excite me. I will give them the response they deserve. You don't sit in a restaurant and tip the waitress before she serves you. You wait until he/she has earned it, don't you... I cheer every name as its announced (even Thompson) and expect the team to earn anything above this.
  5. No thats not what I said. I said that the roof in the Chaddy End stops some of the sound, We used to get 11,000 when we were in Div 4 and most of them stood in the Chaddy end. They made some noise, and they used to run football special buses from't town centre The RRE is better for singing and chanting Full stop... Are you really saying that 300 Southend fans were singing louder than all the so called chaddie enders!!! I sit in the main stand and what I meant when I said that it doesn't affect me was that we can hear the RRE loud and clear and the Chaddy end is muted.... We, as a group, sing, (yes even approaching 50 years old and barely computer literate) chant and slag the referee off just as much as you Enders. I say again. It's up to the team to get us old farts excited enough to remember the songs!!!! How does it go, Zigga Zagga ??????
  6. Hello Diego I did hear the singing from the Chaddy Road when I was a lad and it was tremendous. It would have been even better if the slope of the chaddy roof hadn't been there. It is a simple matter of physics. I dont think it is the responsibility of the Chaddy enders to sing and theirs alone. I did say that it was up to the team to inspire us just as much as it is our responsibility to inspire them. However I will repeat that I've paid to watch them and it is therefore their job to entertain me and the 5,000 other fans who turned up on Saturday. This they are not doing. When I'm sat with my head in my hands in frustration it is a little hard to get enthusiastic. We should be burying teams like Southend and Carlisle, home and away. Just you watch, when LUFC come in October we'll probably play them off the park. You'll hear me singing then!!!
  7. Hi Rummy. Already did the above and posted it yesterday..
  8. Here here. This is where we discuss football issues isn't it. If someone wants to ask questions through a poll them leave them to it. It does not make them a prat just because they don't fit around your views. I personally think Sheridan is no more than a journeyman coach. In the last two matches I have seen him slagging Davies off when he made a mistake rather than encouraging the young man who, after all, is just starting to make his way in football really. Davies is the best forward we have and needs to be encouraged not discouraged...
  9. I am new to this board but have been a latics supporter for over 40 years. I go to Boundary Park to be entertained because I love football and I love my home town team. I expect them to do the entertaining, not the crowd... It is as a consequence of their talent and play that the crowd get excited and start to sing and chant. Not the other way round . When you serve up rubbish you get complaints. Simple as that. The fans way of complaining is to fall silent and lose interest. Another problem is the design of the home and away stands. The Rochdale Road end makes for better accoustics so 300 Southend supporters sounded louder than 1000 home fans. CHANGE ENDS. I used to stand in the Rochdale Road end with my Dad when it was for home fans. The club has asked the fans to swap but for their own reasons they have declined the opportunity. I sit in the main stand and have done so for the past 20years so it doesn't affect me. Can you imagine how loud the Leeds fans will sound in October. It will sound as though they are at home. I'm sure the Chaddy Enders try their best but the roof on that stand drowns them out!!!
