  1. Apart from Irwin, the best full back this club has ever had. He was fearless and would tackle the 59 bus if asked to... Blistering left foot shot which people genuinely tried to get out of the way of.. I too was there when he scored against Man Utd and jumped nearly as high as he did in celebration. An unassuming genuine footballer who never took it for granted and never wore a shin pad.. He didn't actually score first in that game against Man Utd though. Ronnie Blair scored but it wasn't seen by the ref.
  2. This thread would appear to be a moot point now. The drum was stolen at Doncaster by some little scrote in a Doncaster Shirt...
  3. 1. Chasing Cars. Snow Patrol 2. Jesus of Suburbia. Green Day. 3. Don't stop me now. Queen 4. Old Dan Tucker. Bruce Springsteen. 5. Give a little Respect. Erasure. The Springsteen Album is brilliant but for the life of me I can't remember the name of it..... Eclectic enough for you..
  4. Reach For the Sky. An unashamedly patriotic film made about the life of Douglas Bader. RAF Pilot in WW II who lost both legs in a flying accident. Refused to be pensioned off and went on to become an ace during the Battle of Britain until being captured by the Germans after bailing out. They had to take his artificial legs off him to try and stop him repeatedly escaping. My hero above all others.
  5. She worked with the current wife in a Jewellers in Oldham and was there when she got the part in Rita Sue etc.... You've just come second. Well I only win by default coz it was the wife who knew her. So I suppose you win really...
  6. Who's moaning!! All I'm saying is that Latics are a far better side than the opposition was on Satdi... We had them there for the taking in the first half and should have done so. Can you possibly explain that second half performance to me? I want the Latics to be playing in the Premiership within five years like everybody else but I am always going to be honest in my appraisal of their performances. It's more than you're being. My God, One goal against opposition like that and you're happy. You've not set your sights very high this season have you...
  7. [in the battle of arrogance Gregan v Wellens - who will be the first to be sent off? http://www.oldhamathletic.premiumtv.co.uk/...1109989,00.html Sorry, this is What I meant to say..... DAVIES>>>> He cannot let anything go....
  8. What Bright side? We should have buried what was after all a mediocre side at the best. Huddersfield were there for the taking. They offered nothing until we let them back into the game in the second half and isn't Wolfy a first team striker in many peoples eyes, including mine... If we really want promotion this season then we should beat teams like that Home AND Away..
  9. Because when he plays on the left he continually cuts back inside to try and get the ball onto his effective foot. He thens runs straight into the defender who usually knows exactly what Taylor is going to do.
  10. First thing I would like to say is.. Fantastic support from Oldham Fans. The Huddersfield fans were totally anonymous for 70 odd minutes apart from the Cossack dancer in his underpants. He's here all week. The team just didn't come out for the second half. Huddersfield should have been put away in the first 45. Beresford 8. Kept us in it and had a difficult sun to deal with in second half. Couple of brilliant saves. Bertrand 7. Solid but didn't get up and around Taylor as he has been doing. Probably because he has lost confidence in Taylor at the moment. Gregan 9. Won everything in the air and was intimidating in the tackle. Hazell. 8. Easily the most effective defensive partner for Gregan. Won his share of the high stuff and was calm under pressure. Could have distributed it a bit better. Eardley. 8 Wasn't over troubled until the second half when we retreated into our last third. Needs to have more confidence going forward because he is effective when he does. Taylor 3. I'm sorry but this guy's confidence is on the floor and he isn't playing with his head. Spent most of the afternoon running straight into the fullback and losing the ball. I think there are two possible answers for this. Get him in the reserves or ON THE RIGHT... Kalala 7. Solid defensive Midfielder but little imagination going forward. Did his job for most of the game which is all you can ask. Liddel 6. Missed Ricketts in my opinion. Didn't make the runs into the box and didn't try the telling pass. Latics are not a punt it high and hope team. Needs to look for the through pass along the floor better. Kilkenny 6. Not one of his better games. He didn't have much in front of him in the way of opposition so should have been more creative. He is perfectly capable of so being. Davies 5. Headless Chicken. Headless Chicken. Headless Chicken. At this level you make your superiority count. you don't beat a man and then try to beat him again. You don't get the time... Great goal but even then, he just lashed at it and in it went... Wolfenden 7. Fullback gave him little room but he still managed to win his share and hold up the ball. Looks tricky and pacy. Could do well with a run in the team. In conclusion. I went along to the game with a neutral friend who coaches down south. He thought the football was dire and I have to say I agree with him. Where has the slick passing gone. Why do we no longer keep the ball on the deck and play through sides like Huddersfield who were there for the taking.....
  11. I will be going and will compromise and wear my scarf. I don't think that is overstating it too much do You? (Not just my scarf I hasten to add, that would be a bit too much).
  12. Can't see them cancelling scheduled services. Railways arn't in the business of deliberately losing money.
  13. Got a friend coming up from Gloucester next week and will be taking him. Might try to get a pint in before the game.
  14. I agree Rummy. Thats why I go on to say what I say in the post. It is good manners and respectful to consider others when you are expressing your opinion. It is so easy for people to say that profanity has it's place on this board but how many of them would use the kind of language in front of their parents, children etc that they want us to accept on here.. I used to post on other boards but have stopped, partly because of how those boards are run, but mostly because of the lack of control. OWTB is a fantastic site. People are posting from as far away as Taiwan, Hong Kong and Burton on Trent and expressing opinions that I sometimes agree with and sometimes violently disagree with. Yet it is usually done in an intelligent and witty way. Keep up the filtering, censoring and prioritising. Then I can keep on letting my Kids see what i'm reading and typing about our fantastic football club and its fantastic fans Oh my God I was almost Gushing there. Need a hankie for the tear in my eye
  15. Censorship is the last refuge of the control freak. I am all for letting language develop. My daughter speaks a different english to me and her mum. It's been this way since language began or else we'd all still be thee'ing and thou'ing. Deleting profanity however is not the same as censorship.. its about using the proper word and not not being lazy and just effing and jeffing... Moral high ground taken and does that mean I'm winning...
  16. Just thought of another.... Keith Hicks. Centre Half with a chin like Desperate Dan. Think he's at Rochdale working in the community now.
  17. Maurice had the hardest shot I've ever seen. As he started his run up to hit it the crowd would start MMMMMMAAAAUUURRRIIICCCEEE!!!! then wait for the Thwack as it hit the back of the net. What a Man!!! Even harder then Roberto Carlos. So there. ..
  18. You still out there in the Land of the rising Nissan or are you back in GB?

    Reuben Hazell

Sign him for Gods sake or else Thompson will be back in the centre of defence.
  20. OOOHHH Standforths steak and a pint of Timothy Taylor Landlord. Now thats living my friend....
  21. Now everybody. As a Connoisseur (Yes Diego that is the correct spelling) of the BP pies. I can honestly say that the Balti Chicken pie took a lot of beating. However if the board is looking for a replacement supplier I would like to suggest the Pork Pie Establishment of Skipton (Just above the canal). Who's pies are of the highest standard. With particular mention being made of their hot pork pies. You've never tasted gravy like it!!! Come on Oldham get proper pies in... Oh my God, I'm salivating at me desk.
  22. Agree with everything said in this post. I said it last week re Davies and Ricketts. Sheridan needs to get Davies in the reserves to rebuild his confidence, giving Wolfy a chance for 90 minutes alongside Ricketts.......
