  1. I have to go for Allot over Smalley. Allott hit the ground running from the first minute. Dean took a little time to settle but did have probably his best game for the tic's after the first ten minutes
  2. Just remember, when Everton come in to buy you. I will carry your bags.!
  3. I'll stand in for you if you want Chaddy. I'm very popular on here.... Just need a xxxl outfit. !!!
  4. I think that is where the misunderstanding has started. I know there is a time and a place for swearing. I do not dislike or like it. I am neutral. My point is and always has been, the apparant lack (IMO) of man management skills on the part of Sheridan and Wright. I have posted this before and it led to some good debate. However when the likes of JP start slinging personal insults into the post without ever addressing the issue it does rankle slightly. I accept that I am not party to the training sessions and there could be an excellent morale at the club. It just surprises me that there is no encouragement coming from the bench during the game. Do You think this is right? I also apologise for the way I posted the issue. It is something I feel strongly about for the following reason. I think we have one of the best squads in the 1st Division. One well capable of holding it's own in the championship with a couple of additions. However we are struggling to make the playoffs. The same players go onto the park mostly and yet they put in performances like they did against Hartlepool before a performance like yesterdays. I honestly believe that a little encouragement from the bench last Tuesday night may have helped. However there was none. I also agree that Smalley (after a shaky start) had probably his best game for the club and Lewis played well enough to deserve his goal. Another poster on this issue also said Sheridan had to prompted to shake Lewis' hand when he came off. What would you have done? I know I gave the lad a standing ovation. If that makes me a moaning whinging asshole then so be it.
  5. They're a matter of opinion. This is my opinion. Thats what this forum is for isn't it. we come on here to debate the issues around our club. This to me is a major issue. If you hate people like me you don't have to respond to the posts. I go to every game with optimism in my heart for the club and have done so since 1962ish. I have seen a couple of Managers in that time and watched a lot of football at BP. I am having a pop at Sheridans man management style. I think it makes him a poor manager along with some of the other issues that have been around BP this season. I honestly believe that we are in a good position in this league in spite of the management rather than because of it. I would love us to get into the Championship and will cheer and shout at every opportunity in order to make that a reality. that includes during the game when Chrissy Taylor loses the ball or Eards hoofs it 60 yards. I avoid personal insults as far as I can. I never say I hate other Latics fans just because they don't agree with my view. In fact I encourage the debate. It is not ridiculous to question a management style, its a legitimate question.
  6. I accept what your saying about Sheridan caring. I have never suggested he doesn't. All I am calling into question are his man management skills. These do not seem to be evident when he stands on the touchline. I would also add that when they got a goal back there were several routes he could have taken. Encouragement was one of them but he didn't. We did however go and score again so that could go aganst my argument. We don't know though that if he had been actively encouraging the players they may well have not conceded the goal in the first place. I accept that we have faltered towards the end of games but isn't that a question of fitness rather than man management.
  7. Where have I said that it is all the Managers fault. The players take responsibility on the pitch. Tha Managers job is to prepare them well and motivate them to play to the best of their abilities. It is also to encourage, praise, discipline, roast them and applaud when they score. And if Sheridan is undermined by my comments then he should be up the road for Gods sake. A bit of criticism against the Mighty Shez and everybody leaps down your throat. How do you think you get the best out of your employees then? I am not finding fault with the team at all. They went out and beat one of our fiercest rivals on Satdi. Yippee!!! I just wish our Manager could have joined in with the feel good factor. When Tranmere got one back everybody around me was shouting things like "Come on Oldham" "Keep going Lads" "Lets have another" Pity our manager didn't...... Its our club and we have the right to have a view on issues. I just happen to think this is a major issue for the Tic's
  8. Your use of Brian Clough just goes to the heart of my argument. I am not a moaner as some on here would suggest. Mr Clough was one of the best man managers around. Do you know how he did it? He praised and cajoled and told players that they were better than they actually were. He also gave them roastings in equal measure WHEN they needed them. That is my point. One of the greatest managers of all time, Mr Matt Busby was a quietly spoken man who gave out praise and roastings during the game in equal measure, . Bill Shankly was fiercely protective of his players during, before and after the games. I was at Latics on Saturday and did not hear one positive sentence out of Sheridans mouth. Other supporters around me also heard his comments and held their heads in disbelief. It is not about the use of language either. I can F and blind with the best of them and sometimes do at Latics. You're just ticked off because I don't rate our Manager and his sidekick. Thats fine. It's my opinion as you have yours. What I am saying is that he has no man management skills and I will continue to do so. So lets drop the personal crap and debate the issue. I was a damn sight "happier" than Sheridan yesterday when we were 1-0 up. 2-0 up 2-1 up then 3-1 up. I was in fact jumping up and down applauding my team. Which I will do long after Sheridan is gone (God Willing). I don't expect many to call for Sheridans head but would just ask you to consider this. If you continually call someone CRAP they usually end up just that....CRAP.
  9. Thank you KP. At least you answer the point rather than leaping into the personal crap. It would be an interesting day if he were to try and be positive and negative in equal measure though wouldn't it?

  11. KP. I'm over the moon that we've won. I also think there is a legitimate cause for debate over the way our Manager treats the players whilst they're on the pitch. All I want people to consider is this. Would they be a better team if the Management were a little more positive during the game? I'm not moaning about winning. I'm moaning about a management style.
  12. Now Now. don't put words in my mouth. There has never been a mention of his dress sense. Just his methods.
  13. Its difficult to take you seriously when you don't take part in the debate JP. You seem to enjoy making personal attacks more. I praised and clapped my team for the majority of a game which, by the way, was more than Sheridan did. You are right on one point though. I don't rate Sheridan and have never hidden that fact. I do not dislike him. Just his methods. I'm sorry if my language is to highbrow for you. It's the way I talk. I don't see the Mods jumping in yet by the way.
  14. Are quotes from Ronnie Moore supposed to make it all alright then? Last time I looked no one at BP had a good word for the man. His tactics are crap. His style of play is poor bordering on terrible. It doesn't sound like a recommendation for Sheridan DS
  15. I've read it DS but it doesn't alter the fact that you don't get the best out of your staff by behaving how sheridans does on the touchline. I just want a balanced approach.
  16. Thats fine Kelly's, I believe in debate unlike some others on here. I would just like to add that neither of us know how much better this team could be if the Manager actually praised them occasionally whilst they were trying their nuts off.
  17. Yes. at least they know how to motivate staff.....
  18. The best Managers know how to motivate, encourage and discipline when and if it is necessary. A "Well Done" or "Good pass" would not be out of order. Sheridan does not seem able to do this during the game. It is great that he praises them after the game if they have played well if that IS the case. He should do it during the game as well. You don't get employees to perform better by continually doing them down. Even if they work at McD's JP. You only get the best out of your staff by being fair and honest. Sheridan isn't honest with the lads. He's frankly abusive. Thats a fact!!!
