  1. Didn't Alex (the Hurricane) Higgins own what is now Tokyo's for a time in the 80's?
  2. What about the Bird Cage in the Cats Whiskers. Used to spend many a happy hour staring up the dancers skirts from the ground floor.....
  3. Montys was the one further down towards the bus station. Or it could have been the Bus Stations club... The Pennine Lounge.... Getting in Dreamers all depended how Tommy Heffron was feeling on any particular night. If he'd had a bad day you could just as well get launched down the stairs!!!
  4. What about the Hill stores at the junction of Rippy Road and Huddersfield Road. My Mum and Dad met there.
  5. I remember it. Saw the Sex Pistols there (Or was it the Clash).... Anyway. The floor used to bounce with the Pogoing.
  6. I hope he didn't use that helmet again. They're no good after a collision you know!!!!
  7. you've got far too much time on your hands!!!!
  8. Ken Naylor if my memory serves me right. Thought he owned the Candlelight. Pulled a gun on a traffic warden on Greaves St (Allegedly) when she tried to issue him a ticket.... Nice Man.....
  9. I had talked our Doris into a trip to swansea on Saturday but when I got out of bed at 6.30 there was four inches of snow on the car outside. I bottled it and went back to bed. I have freed up my weekends now so shoud be able to swell the away numbers by 1. Its not about distance most of the time. It's about having the time due to other commitments (which have been impossible to get out of)
  10. He's a professional Footballer. He should get fit, get back to BP . Pull his bottom lip in and fight (not literally) to get back in the team.....
  11. I think that as loan signings both Bertrand and Kilkenny were successful, particularly Berty. He was never going to sign a permanent deal with us even though he said he had enjoyed it up here. Kilkenny is a decent player who should be able to ply his trade in the championship so I can see why he went for Leeds at the time. That might just backfire on him this season though. Wouldn't that be nice?
  12. If thats true then providing his head is on right we could have got ouselves a gem of a player......
  13. Agreed to a point. We are a small squad now so averyone would be in the frame for a game. It would depend on whether Sheridan comes up with a plan B.
  14. Could it be anything to do with the surface around the edge of the pitch. I've seen several players slip on the blue stuff around the pitch. It looks like blue tarmac but i don't think it is. I know its a long shot but as a previous poster said. even our better passers of the ball seem to have problems with corners. It might be an unconscious thing on Taylors part. If you think you're going to slip you arn't set up properly.
  15. its nice to have options though isn't it. Ricketts was a big un who could hold up the ball when required.
  16. Saw him in the Sheffield derby. He only got a 10 minute spell and seemed a bit gangly. Wouldn't say NO though
  17. Loan signings are a win win situation to my mind. They give (usually) a young player the chance to improve their game. The club they are loaned to a chance to have a look without committing and to get a good player in (e.g.Bertrand) for a period of time to help out etc.
  18. do you know owt about him previously to coming here. Mate said on Tuesday that he had been round a few clubs and hadn't done too well. Looked a decent player to me!
  19. Can you let me know what sizes are left in both please?
  20. Agree about Allott... He was running at the defence at pace. Good to see....
  21. Do you know why they were bad..... Because the Tics didn't give them a bloody minute. The closing down from front to back was immense with players twoing up most of the time in defence and playing quick ball into feet in attack. Forwards held the ball up brilliantly for midfield to come on at speed, hence McD's two goals from midfield. Carlisle did not have an answer last night and it feels good.......
  22. What Thompson needs is competition for his place. That usually bucks a players ideas up. Sadly trotman going reduces that competition. On a better note. Lomas' attitude and application have introduced more competition back to the team.
