  1. I think Northern/Midland teams next season will be...

    Us

    Sheffield Wednesday

    Sheffield United

    Chesterfield

    Bury

    Rochdale

    Preston North End

    Shrewsbury Town

    Scunthorpe United

    Tranmere Rovers

    Walsall

    Huddersfield Town

    Carlisle United

    Hartlepool United

    Notts County

I carnt see dagenham staying up, even though notts county are a very poor side, i think allen could keep them up !

looking much better, will take the edge off another season in this division

  2. 1.) IIRC It wasn't his stomach more like his gentleman's area it was a bit too low for it to be stomach/solar plexus.

2.) There wasn't long left and that's the sort of injury which takes at least 5 minutes to recover from, if he had subbed himself off with 30 minutes to go that would have been bad but whilst it meant we had 10 men whilst he was off (and I think he came back on) I don't think he could have contributed much in that time.

He was a big fairy puff tart and can't believe anybody is arguing this!! He kept looking over to the bench while theactrically holding his noodle area a good 5 mins after the incident. There was at least a good 15 mins left in the game too! The factthat Taggarts head nearly blew off and he didn't start the next game go to confirm this.

Evina pulls out of challenges all the time and he definately wanted out rather than playing out the game able to come off with a bit of dignity.

Yes the run for the second goal does earn him a bit of a repreive but so far for me he has flattered to deceive. Yeah he is pacy and can go on a good run every now and then but we look much more assured and solid with black in the team and his forward play isn't too far behind that of Cedric. I am struggling to find too many positives, the 'rocket' shot which the keeper should have saved and having a storming second half against (I forget some help please) where the balls he was getting into the box were 1st class. If he could toughene up a bit he would improve his game no end. that said it is great to have some compettition at left back.

  3. Hmm perhaps the manner in which the cooksey point has been made was a touch insensitive I agree to a certain extent.

I would say that Cooksey was more a cult hero just like Tonk will probably be. He was certainly a shining light in some dark days.

As for Chris Taylor he is a definately a legend of recent years with nobody coming close unfortunately. few players stay at clubs long enough now to attain such status and for clubs like us which experience mid table mediocrity more often than not legends are certainly few and far between. Naturally your Ritchies, Bunns, Palmers of this world will be held in such high esteem and rightly so for obvious reasons.

As for Chris it is all relative and whilst I'd love to give him a slap for his whining and rolling about at times I imagine if I was a 9 year old on the terrace he would be one of my favourite players and that is what it is about.

  4. Hello latics, just popping in to see if there was any news on our two lads you've got on loan? How are they performing? Do you think they'd ever make it in the Premier League?

I've seen M'voto a few times, and he doesn't get me that excited. Whereas Tounkara is a bit of an unknown quantity.

Are both looking to like they will be playing this evening against Tranmere?

    Cheers.

    Hello,

I would say that neither of the 2 lads would really end up playing in the Prem. Big Jean has been a great signing so far although needed a few matches to warm up he since looked the business being very dominant in the air and even chipping in with a couple of gaols with Dickov preferring a big man in the box in the dying moments of games rather than pulling on a striker. His lay off coincided with our run of bad form although a number of factors (footballing and non footballing perhaps) seem to have contributed to this his absence has certainly been felt. 8/10 for me and certainly capable at Championship level.

Oumare has perhaps flattered to deceive at times. At first he also struggled but with more games his awareness and touch improved along with his hold up play and although getting a reasonable return has never really carried any momentum. Our lack of a natural goalscorer and perhaps a partner for Oumare has been our downfall and perhaps reflected in his own game which coinciding with the teams lack of form and inability to score goals has stuttered. The standout performance was vs Huddersfield with him being described as the 'Human Wrecking Ball' but recent perfomances have been lacklustre at best. Still a young lad though and would surely consider his 1st full season a success. I'd give hime a 6/10 which would have been closer to 7-7.5 if earlier form had continued. Would no doubt have benefitted from a more settled strike partner. I see him being league 1/lower champs perhaps

  5. Not to mention his poor passing and dozy moments. And he can't say a sentance without using the word "really", which is of course of paramount importance.

I'd hang fire on M'Voto. Unless results across the 5th, 8th and 12th seriously go in our favour then we're out of the play-off hunt. If there's nowt to play for there's no point in bringing him in? Unless it's with a view to getting our hands on him next season which would be good - best centre half we've had since last season.

I'd agree with this. I've been very underwhelmed with Trotters but I suppose he had already raised expectation from before we had sold him on. As has been mentioned it would appear that injuries have taken there toll as he struggles for pace and mobility and often relying on last ditch tackles. I was hoping that he would have chipped in with one by now but our corner taking abilities are eclipsed only by the movement which we offer at throw ins! As for Mvoto he seemed shaky at the start but then grew into the role and has the ability to chip in with a couple also. We have definately missed Ruubes despite his odd bollock dropping here and there and would like to see the pairing of him and Mvoto again but if we are out of contention it might not be worth while...then again nothing wrong with pushing as far up that table as possible

  6. If we're going to be top 6 at the end of the season, we should be looking to take 6 points from these next two games.

True focus and that's what we'll get.

I've managed to persuade a few neutrals to come and take advantage of the £2 offer. So a decent crown coupled with a good chance to bag 3 points usally means....well you can guess the rest eh!

  7. Thought hes been playing really well personally. However, its already been said, he is a way off the finished article, i think he could do with more discipline about coming off his line. He showed this at Huddersfield and to our cost against Dagenham.

Improving steadily since his introduction with a few crucialsaves in the mix too. From what I have seen, could be better off his line and needs work on his kicking but bravery is better than Brills and shot-stopping on a par if not better. Also more assured at claiming crosses.

On the whole I would say the recent stats speak for themselves and we have improved ourselves in the goalkeeping depatment.

  8. sorry mate but the site your on about the old tip is now the new tip and in the process of being built is a state of the art recycling centre....

however the other side of the street, which backs onto middleton road is full of the old platts buildings and some other mish mash of smaller units and is quite a large site...wether that is worth investigating i dont know...but it is deemed as industrial area so not sure how you would go about that...

just had a thought (cue pisstakes) the land opposite to lancaster club on the other side of broadway is council owned i think,no allotments on it and not trustee land...from what i remember of it going back,it used to be just derelict and full of sand hills and that, where we used to go bmxing and others used scrambler bikes...runs right up the canal and train track other side...now that might be worth a shout....think you can get to it the other side of morrisons....or the other one is where ferrantis used to be on wickentree lane

if you go from opposite the Lancaster club you hit what we called 'the white stuff' that goes across to Hale Lane on the New Moston border then across from there again you have land which takes you to the canal and then up to Morrisons. Not sure how feasable the land on the opposite side of broadway is though and I would imagine that there would be enough room however it may run into Manchester territory?

  9. So did my Dad, served as an apprentice there, then carried on and worked for them until a couple of months before it finally went belly up.

He told me once that the site was so big in its pomp that it had it's own railway line to carry machinery / parts & people around the site.....

I know there are business units on parts of the site now, but surely there is some 'wiggle room' on an area so large for re-locating etc.....

Would you not have learnt about the railway on your history project?
