I've just renewed for the 33rd year in a row!
I know, I'm so weak . . .
Maybe next season?
Maybe, just maybe . . .

AFC Fylde are keen on Reid.

Conlon is going to take over the captaincy.
We are looking at the Fleetwood winger who was on loan at Rochdale.

We’ve approached Wigan to sign Stones permanently or a season long loan.
I’m hearing big Mike has been offered a one year deal.20 hours ago, mcfluff1985 said:Got told Norwood did something naughty. He's free to leave apparently.
Copied from another thread, and to save @Lukers1 the time.

Selling shares in what though? OAFC 2004 or Grocco? One is worthless with no assets the other isn't.
I presume it would be Groco 510 Ltd selling a proportion of its stake in Oldham Athletic (2004) to any new investor / consortium.
NB: EuroMillions lottery is £130m tonight.

I've been saying that since we got relegated from League 1.

And there's more:
"Kurt Willoughby is also understood to be enjoying his time in the Scottish Championship with Ayr" according to Suzanne Geldard in The Oldham Times.

I played golf this morning and one of my regular playing mates seemed a bit agitated, odd as he's normally a very chilled out kind of guy. Turns out he was at Cheltenham last night as they lost 0-1 to Carlisle (already down) in a crucial relegation match for them. He was apoplectic about Nuttall, who apparently missed a sitter early on. Honestly, I've never heard him swear so much . Among his more repeatable comments about Nuttall were "can't bloody jump", "fucking useless", "sodding donkey", and he said if we don't take Nuttall back at the end of the season if not before, he might just stick my 7 iron where the sun doesn't shine!!
17 minutes ago, Worcester Owl said:As an update, aforementioned golf mate apologised to me yesterday - Nuttall was MOTM in Cheltenham's win over Peterborough and, quote, "terrorised the goalkeeper", "jumped like a salmon" and generally was unplayable!
The following is one comment posted about Nuttall in the Cheltenham Town Robins Nest forum:
"I'd keep him on if we can, but it's been mentioned elsewhere that he's paid more than we can afford at Oldham, so he's probably out of our price range. I think he's looked a real asset last couple of games, with further room to improve you'd expect. If Oldham were willing to get him off their wage bill for nothing and he agrees to a pay cut I'd like to see him stick around, however probably not as our top earner...!"

What's the confusion... Or am I missing something...?
"We would like to thank the players who depart this summer and we wish them well in their future careers."
Seems pretty straightforward to me?
The article is titled '2024 Retained Player List' and then states: "Following the conclusion of the 2023/24 season, Oldham Athletic can confirm the retained player list for the First Team."
In previous years the articles were called 'Retained & Released List' and there was a section that was simply titled 'Released'.
On the other hand . . .

All they need to do, if they are all being released is change the sub-heading "Out of Contract (June 2024)" to "Contract not being renewed (June 2024)".
Everyone's on the same page.
Last year the headings were simply 'in contract', 'released' and 'returned to parent club'.

And now the EFL wants to allow lower ranked clubs freedom to seek a switch of venue when drawn at home to a big club. Yet another nail in the cup's coffin
That reminded me of when my Dad took me to Maine Road in 1977 to watch us play Northwich Victoria in the 4th Round of the FA Cup. The Vics switched it to Maine Road as we were a big Division 2* club then! (We won 3 - 1).
* which is equivalent to the Championship for our younger readers!

Sorry to plug my own poll, but as it's a 'poll only' thread it slips down the list quickly!

Problem is, out of the 18 players contracted, i'm guessing it includes all of the big earners. However, if you offload Norwood that should in theory free up budget to bring in 2/3 decent players. Should be able to offload a couple of more so we should be looking at bringing at least 5/6 players getting only 3 out.
We also need to get Nuttall off the wage bill as well. He's supposed to be the club's 2nd biggest earner! Dickenson is the highest earner who's out of contract according to Salary Sport. Those 3 would 'save' around £6,700 a week if their figures are anywhere near correct!

18 hours ago, spanishfly said:Yes I heard similar a few weeks back and posted same on here. It can only be back him or sack him after what's come out of the woodwork.
As they are both in-contract, would be get (at least half decent) transfer fees?

In August the Oldham Times reported that 3,700 season tickets had been sold, just prior to the opening league fixture.
