  1. the difference being keanes tackle didnt end haalands career, a fact which haaland himself has pointed out.
  2. "Let me start by saying that I am neither City or Spurs, but I do know a little about what is happening with Corluka due to a 'business' interest. When Spurs first made contact, it was Shinawatra's people that agreed a fee with Spurs and told Corluka he was free to leave. They did that without Mark Hughes' knowledge or consent. Corluka was suprised to say the least. When Hughes took over he told Corluka he was one of the mainstays in his future plan for MCFC. Nevertheless, Corluka travelled to London to meet with Spurs' people. Hughes then found out about the deal, and basically vetoed it - which was something the Thai's people had agreed he could do with any transfer activity when he took over. That's when Corluka was summoned back to Manchester to go up to Glasgow for the Celtic friendly. Behind the scenes a real row started between Hughes and certain elements of the board; Hughes furious that they had gone behind his back to sell Corluka to Spurs, and the board enraged that Hughes had effectively recalled him from London for the Celtic game. Shinawatra's people told Hughes that evening that the deal was 'too good to turn down', largely due to Shinawatra's financial problems. So, immediately after the Celtic game, Corluka flew back to London to resume talks with Spurs. When Spurs' initial offer was accepted, Corluka had no real desire to leave City. That wasn't anything against Spurs, more the vision for the future of MCFC he had been sold by Hughes and Cook. However, after meeting with Spurs and talking with Modric, Corluka was sold on Tottenham and agreed terms. He went through a two-day medical, which he passed without problem. He's been holed up in a London since early Friday morning - hence why he missed the club photo. Spurs agreed the final details for the transfer with City yesterday morning, and Corluka put pen to paper on his player registration. Then City's people accepted the offer from Sunderland for Stephen Ireland, and Hughes went properly mental. Twice in 48 hours he felt he was having players he wanted sold from under him. In a rage, it was Hughes who called Ireland and told him he was expected to report to the CoMS to report for the Milan game. Hughes putting him on for a couple of minutes was a big statement on his part. Here comes the really interesting part. Hughes last night told Cook he was through with City and wants out, the sale of Corluka and Ireland being the straw that broke the camel's back. He said if the Corluka deal went through particularly, he would be on his way out of City too. At that point City have tried to derail the Corluka and Ireland deals. BUT, Spurs claim to have completed the paper work for the transfer which has already been lodged with the FA and signed by someone from City with authorisation to do so. City say they agreed a sale in principle with Spurs, but that no final transfer documents had been signed. As such Corluka, who was expecting to be paraded at White Hart Lane this afternoon, is in limbo. However, he has now set his heart on Spurs and linking up with Modric and has told City he will not return to the CoMS under any circumstances. He has been sold on Tottenham, and become frustrated with the background stuff taking place at City. Spurs and City are maintaining their respective positions, but Spurs have basically told City that they are willing to see the issue go to court. They believe they have signed Corluka, and Corluka wants to play for them. What a mess." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- from an alleged employee of MCFC - "I'm sorry to say this, as a life long fan and - for the last few (for me at least) unforgettable months - employee, MCFC as we know it is finished. Here are the FACTS, for those who really want to know. Thaksin is, as of midlnight 10th August, 2008, an international fugitive. He now has to be found guilty of corruption in Thailand in his absense, offering no defence. Extradition requests will surely follow. The PL will then have to find him short of the fit and proper ownership rules (and believe me, the pressure for that from fellow 'members' has been growing since June). Thaksin is trying to palm off City onto whoever will now take it, an insolvent mess of a business, completely incapable of sustaining itself. The truth is that the only interested party (until recently) - Wardle - is not now able to bail City out now , he cant come close on his own and no partners have been found. The wage bioll and committments due on the last 2 years' transfers have spiralled out of control. The Corluka affair is the last straw - I personally worked on the deal and can assure anyone interested that he has already been transferred to Spurs. Spurs have this evening started legal action, and he will be barred from playing for City following an injunction in the courts tomorrow. Personally I expect Hughes to then resign on principal (he has no choice now, he is on record as saying that he will have final say on all transfers). Many wont believe any of this, but a few will. I am very close to this situation (readers will never know who I am or how close - a few would know my name but it isnt appropriate to for me to come 'out') - trust me, I am close enough to know what has happeneded in the last fortnight, I am pissed off with it (as a fan, and as someone who has worked hard for the club durinig the ast 18 months or so) and it must be said, a little drunk. I am posting this message on a few sites - apologies for those that keep reading it, but I want City fans to know what is happening. The sad truth is we are finished, and that as a result, the PL will be facing its biggest challenge since inception within 2 weeks of now." Had this in my email inbox at work this morning
  3. you do realise its a bit further than walking down Blackshaw lane to Our Ladys with a pie sandwich dont you!
  4. is it just me who doesnt feel sorry for gretna? isnt it a bit hypocritical to moan about Abramovich at Chelsea pumping his money in to try and "buy" trophies left right and centre, then say its a shame its happened because its a club with a smaller profile. it was still the same principle, loads of money thrown at it to get the club up the divisions, he pulls out, it goes belly up. serves them right surely?
  5. "Nothing but speculation." maybe, but i can only speculate on what i have been told, by what i deem a very reliable source. on a wider point, i can see why the rest of the board get so angry with you corporal, and it isnt because you are some great harbinger of truth. its because you ADD nothing to a debate and just try to kill it with a stream of childish, pithy posts, reminding me of a child who sits there with arms folded after being told off, replying with one word answers, mimicing everything that is said to you. the idea of a board like this is to offer opinions on whatever the thread is about.
  6. but he doesnt actually have much, if any real money to his name (and dont take that in the literal sense of the word, i mean compared to the crap being spouted about spending £18million on that lad from CSKA etc) he still hasnt paid for at least 2 of the bonds he was supposed to have bought when he took over the club, and still hasnt even paid the solicitors who handled the transfer of ownership etc. plus i have heard at least 3 times the same rumour that they had to take a loan out back in October just to make sure the admin staff et al got paid. imo hes looking to sell as many for as much as possible, diverting the money back to himself, before doing one. if his cronies back in Thailand were really going to sort him out with his assets (as was much reported when he returned home a couple of months ago), they would have done it by now, City would have a new manager in place by now, knowing he would xxxmillion to spend. as i have previously stated, they only paid for something in the region of 40% of last summers transfers, as well as haggling Benjanis price down in january from 4mil upfront to 2 up front because they are that hard up. they will plummet like the proverbial stone next season. oh well, never mind!
  7. got to agree, walked through town yesterday morning, there were a fair few from the tuesday night stumbling about, and being generally pished up but harmless. went out on me lunch and although a large number were having a laugh, there was, as already stated, a sense of inevitability about the whole thing. then when i walked down to victoria from piccadilly (after the arseholes had already caused the trams to be cancelled in town centre), i turned up oldham street and left past fridays to cut through. as i was walking down this side street (cant remember the name of it, think it might be back piccadilly or summat like that), there was a young girl (19-20 maybe), walking up on her way home from work/college/uni whatever i would assume. on the other side of the street were approx 50-60 rangers "fans" who were nothing short of bladdered (one of whom had decided to use the street as a toilet, and i dont mean having a whizz), this girl walks past and one, who had a can of tennants super strength (you couldnt make this stuff up) and loads of tattoos runs alongside her and rather then have a bit of banter, which im sure we all have done, decided he would grope her and tried to kiss her, then tried to lick her face, i carried on walking in a straight line to make sure i walked right between them, which thankfully appeared to give this girl a chance to get some space and get onto oldham street where there were plenty of police. by the time i got to victoria, isaw this scenario repeated at least 5 or 6 times to varying degrees of ill-taste, as well as the 2 lots of wonderful 'gers i saw and, more unfortunately, heard, making monkey noises and other racist comments at passing asians and blacks. rangers fans - class personified. and one last thing, this arguement that Manchester wasnt prepared, what were these arseholes without tickets doing going to manchester knowing they had no chance of getting a ticket? dicks. end of.
  8. strike me from that list as well, piccadilly gardens and albert square is like the muppet show at the minute!
  9. i work near piccadilly station and am just glad that when i went out for my lunch a short while ago, none of these muppets were doing anything stupid like singing munich songs, as i believe they have been doing outside old trafford this morning. both rangers and celtic fans are, quite simply, arseholes for bringing in religion to football. its like a bleedin scottish version of shameless in piccadilly gardens. oh and one last thing... 150000 rangers fans in and around manchester = no nice women out for their lunch/sunbathing/drinking during the day. i am not impressed!
  10. yeah and as terrible as it sounds, i really dont think royton would ever elect an asian councillor, which is bang out of order obv. As a labour man (im assuming you guessed!) it was obviously an awful night. with steve, after phil's defeat, im not sure it is a safe seat anymore, although phil didnt help himself with being branded an official bully (which i think cost him more than the latics saga) and his "style" will always make as many enemies as friends (or near enough to cost him his seat anyway!) i think steve is a lot more, how do you put it, "customer" friendly, if you like, and also i think between now and his next defence, a lot of people will hopefully realise he was stiched up a lot over the ground development. i can honestly say you couldnt meet as honest a bloke as Steve, and someone who genuinely does his job for the betterment of his ward/town, unlike some i could mention (and i mean both sides). it may surprise you for me to say this but it would arguably have been better for oldham if the lib dems had made an overall majority, as it would allow them to imprint their own definate agenda and the people of oldham to then judge them on that, whereas i can see a lot of fun and games over the next year, as when the tories side with labour, it will be 30 each, and the mayor is labour for the next 12 months, so i cant actually see a lot getting done again until either side has a workable majority
  11. got to take issue with you on that one garcon, the retain in royton north was down to a lot of hard work by the labour team in royton, surprisingly the lib dem (who i was talking to and is quite a sound lass) took votes off the bnp/independent and the ukip, and the tory vote fell about 100 from last year. royton north is one area that is relatively safe compared to every other labour seat in oldham. as for the rest of it, got to agree, labour got the slap it had coming, the only saving grace being they have 2 years til the next general to try and turn it round, cos as beag teets says, christ above help us if that snake cameron gets in. and a last point to latics and england, im fully aware of the rules and regs of an election. if you ask anybody who was there last night, it was squeaky bum time over the bnp seat until about half1, quarter to 2, and i didnt have the energy to stay there that long!
  12. not scaremongering at all. when i left the count at 1.15 this morning, they were just about to hand the returning officer a list of results stating the bnp had won, until john hudson, the tory, challenged it and said he had been looking at the piles as they grew and his was quite clearly more than the bnp's, they re-tallied and realised the tory had won, so it was hardly scare mongering. im glad i was wrong though.
  13. yep, fantastic news, the entire bleeding country's gone mad and we heading for a tory government. forgive me if i dont crack the champagne out just yet..... as for royton south, i was their last night, phil harrison got a bit of a tonking to be fair, however the big news im afraid is that the BNP were elected in Chadderton, which made a crap night even worse!
  14. i dont think any supporter should ever complain about players giving it back to them, if your big enough to give it out, take it as well!
  15. couple of thoughts - firstly, good on you chaddy, you teach kids a lesson by punishing them where it hurst most, ie if he wants a game for his computer, take his money off him, like you say, its just like the fine he would receive to be bound over fro breach of the peace. secondly, in general terms, bit of an over reaction to the whole pitch invasion thing, especially if its coming from older ones - christ did you not go in the 70's and 80's? (and before anyone gets all sanctimonious any disaster from then had other contributing factors) as has been stated on here, if it gets kids hooked, good stuff, keep 'em coming back for more, and it is ENTERTAINMENT at the end of the day, dont know who posted it but the middle class comment earlier on was spot on. thirdly, the club wont be fined, will get a warning/suspended fine pending next season (which could be a problem if promotions secured on the last day!) Finally, may get slaughtered for this but hey ho, cant really complain about kids breaking the law and punishing kids for their wrongs etc etc and then state that you hit someone back and appear to revel in it a little bit.
  16. in what sense has it been hijacked? people are just debating the merits of living in the country (and this bloody weather aint one of 'em!!!)
  17. dunno, facist was just the first insult that came to mind without swearing or owt. staying on topic, wasnt St George the patron saint of syphilis (cant spell it, cant be arsed looking it up) sufferers?
  18. i also hate people who repeat themselves apologies, having some technical difficulties, can a mod/admin type person prevent me from going all gareth gates. ta very much
