  1. Ah the bloody league getting in the way of our fun!

It's very true though - I'm not expecting anything at Charlton (apart from a drunken party atmosphere) but we've still got to go for it as there's no pressure on us at all. Then the next three games will be where we've got to take something. The players should have it rammed down their throat that whoever plays the best in the games running up to Liverpool will get to play at Anfield.

I think Dickov has got a great bunch of lads together though - in previous seasons we'd collapse against Southend and Bradford but this season is different. We've got winners in our team and they don't like losing. I reckon we've got an outside chance of play offs but I won't be taking us seriously in the league until March time and if we're up there then - after our cup campaign then let's hope the buzz at Boundary Park can get us into the top 6!

  2. The buzz is defiantly coming back. Even on here OWTB had its own record beaten : Online At Once Record 291 Yesterday, 11:08 PM.

I hope the fans will come back but it won't happen overnight. It's great for the younger generation as these cup games against Liverpool are what winning the Premiership is like for United. I don’t care if we get stuffed at Anfield – the job has been done in getting there. The next big challenge is getting to Wembley and after that it’s winning the clubs first ever competitive cup competition!

    Good times :OWTB1:

  3. I know what you mean - I was there at Scunthorpe in the JPT 2nd round and if we get to Wembley there will be 20k compared to the 190 die hards at Glanford Park. However, it's still a freedom of choice and if someone wants to jump on the bandwagon - good for them. They won't get the same satisfaction as use 190 at Scunny but we'll all have a good day out together.

Our club needs these fans desperatly now and more than ever before to survive. They might annoy you but shout over them with the knowledge you've picked up over the years.

Let's get the buzz back at Boundary Park, albeit with a few 'gloryhunters'. It's better than a sinking ship.

  4. It'll be a weird match on Saturday. After tonights fantastic result we will no doubt automatically look at the Southend game as the next big task. Obviously I don't want to lose but if it were to prevent injuries/suspensions for the FA Cup game then I wouldn't mind taking it slightly easy. I'd rather the yellows Wes and Clarke got were for Saturday because we need them two for the Tuesday.

  5. Now, a leaflet on the turnstiles marketing half-season tickets for Crimbo pressies.

Yes! This is a perfect opportunity for the club to get the lost fans back for the latter half of the season. The past times where we've not jumped on games like the ones coming up is so frustrating. It might be that the majority just throw the leaflet on the floor but it we can get 10% of the say 4000 extra fans coming back it'll boost our chances of that play off place.

  6. With Furman out presumably Adeyemi goes central with Wes. Who goes right side...Morais or possibly Parker??

Incidentally, jusy had a look on Bradford's forum, in the words of one of their fans..they are down to the bare bones.... http://bcafc.livewwware.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=67913&sid=76409106f8094c2f28cf4033e3b7b3d1

I'd go with Morais down the left because I doubt Parker is fit enough to slot in for a big match like this.

I saw on their board that they think we've took our eye off this game with the lure of Anfield over us. I think that's a fair point and I hope Dickov will be going over the importance of this match. I know a few lads who heard about the Southend replay game due to us getting Liverpool but didn't know about us being in the Semi's! I reckon if people know that it's only a tenner for what will be a big game - we should get 4000 home fans? They reckon they're bringing 3000 so it'll be a top atmosphere for what some call a pointless cup.

  7. A lot of people would see his mistake on the replays and think he's cost us a guarenteed place in the 3rd round against Liverpool. Yet some of the saves he pulled off to keep us in it were truely amazing!

He's been a solid keeper and not a liability like Brill. He's made a couple of mistakes but so have every player so far. I can see why Stanley fans were dissapointed to see him leave.

  8. Replays:

Dagenham & Redbridge or Walsall v Millwall

Fleetwood Town or Yeovil Town v Blackpool

Chelmsford City or Macclesfield Town v Bolton Wanderers

Sheffield United v Salisbury City or Grimsby Town

Liverpool v Southend United or Oldham Athletic

Also maybe this game due to late Sunday kick off:

Doncaster Rovers v Sutton United or Notts County

The FA Cup Prize Fund for the Second Round stage is £27,000 while The FA Live broadcast fee is £72,000 per club.

ESPN are only showing one game on Tuesday 13th December - it's got to be us surely?!

That'd mean £99k for us if we get through. I hope this would get reinvested in the team and help us keep the likes of Kuqi, Simpson etc.

As for the vote in the title - I didn't vote as they're both equally as important to the survival of our club. Let's win both!

  9. Tottenham will be playing .... number 62 Oldham Athletic... errr 52 Cheltenham

Fulham will be playing.... number 62 Oldham Athletic... errr 64 that mate Charlton Athletic

After this I was convinced we were going to draw Gillingham away!

Cautiously buzzing for the potential clash with Liverpool. The replay will be tough game - especially with Bradford game then the Sheffield game before it! I hope its cheap like the Southend prices - fill Boundary Park and have a good bash at knocking the Essex boys out. It should be on TV as well which is more much needed money coming in.

  10. I didn't go to that game but he's not far off what our players are like. The thing is, if we play like we have done against the likes of MK Dons then Southend (no matter how good they are in League 2) will not be able to stop us. Our risk on Saturday will be the lads thinking that it will be an easy game because it won't. The third round is appealing for both sides and them being on form and being the under-dog will be a tough combo to break down away from home.

It was nice to see us getting a clean sheet on Saturday but what we now need to see is mixing our attacking flare with a solid defensive performance.

  11. I'm not saying we can't push for the play offs BUT lets not get carried away after beating one of the worst teams to play at Boundary Park. We've just won 3 games on a trot for the first time in 2 years and they've all been league 2 standard teams. The real test will come against the likes of Charlton and Huddersfield away. It is nice to see some great football back at home though.

It should have been more goals for us today and less for them but 5-2 we can't complain can we! When was the last time we scored 5? My first game was 5-2 against Charlton in 1994 and I can't recall any since.

  12. He's been the best player recently in our team and his efforts haven't gone unnoticed, I think most people have stated how good he's been. I think we should extend his loan till the end of the season and if possible in January, get him signed on a 1 & half year contract.

Also, Hudds are out of the FA Cup - will they now let us have Clark for the rest of our cup campaign?

  13. I was at Scunthorpe in the first round because it was made clear that we want to win this trophy this season. I witnessed a great game at Glanford and tonight I saw some fantastic football and for half the price of what dross i saw against Bury in the league!

I fully understand that most seasons it is classed as a shocking cup but for some reason i really believe we can get to Wembley - which would give the club a massive boost. Next round draw is on Saturday, i'm not bothered who we get - home or away we can beat anyone left in this competition.
