  1. Now i'm not sure why taylor, lomax and :censored: didn't play today - they could all have swine flu for all i know, but you serisously have to look at what is going on at the moment with players injuries.

If you take out Worthington who injured himself whilst playing - we've got a ridiculous amount of injuries which have happened in training...

Purdie, Taylor and Jacobson all have the same injury without even kicking a ball in anger. Has there been any games where we've had less than 3-4 players out injured?

  2. I agree with Pukka...some people have a real problem on this board....Just because you make a negative comment, doesn't mean your moaning. I think there were more negatives than positives today.

Today was a poor result, Yeovil are the sort of team we should be beating at home, and after a decent performance mid-week, confidence should have been high but we didn't look like. It was a poor result because we had the better chances but threw them away with poor attempts. There was some poor decision making all around the park today. With an eye on Charlton next week, we had to be looking for 3 points today.

We didn't lose, and we got a clean sheet - so those are the positives.

  3. Have to agree - Brill was fecking terrible tonight. Gifted a second goal and was massivly out of position for third only to do the same again 10 mins later. His kicking is woeful and his decision making is the worst i've seen from any goalkeeper ever. By the time he's decided whether to take a quick throw/kick...the ref's about to hurry him up for timewasting!

As for booing and jeering him - i wouldn't do it, but every single member of that crowd must have felt like abusing someone. If you've paid and you choose to then thats your choice.

  4. thought lee was one of our best players first half....second, he faded but then so did everyone else!

Brill - 6 - One fine save and nothing to do about the two goals. He's growing on me but the speed and direction of his distribution is terrible

Holdsworth - 6 - Decent first half pushing forward and fairly steady defensivly. Linked up with Lee quite well. Shame he had to go off.

Hazell - 6 - Coupld of shakey moments but fairly steady. Too many long aimless punts upfield

Gregan - 5 - Pulled all over the place by their forwards, constantly to high up the pitch and hasn't the pace to get back. Some rash tackles and headers too.

Sheehan - 6 - Decent first half, looked comfortable on the ball and linked up well considering he wouldn't have played much with anybody else on the park.

Lee - 6 - Pretty good first half, switched with whittaker on a couple of occasions, some nice link-up play and got into position to have a couple of chances. Second half, as bad as everyone else.

Furman - 5 - Neat little player who impressed me in the pre-season games. Too many passes backwards and not enough forward runs tonight.

:censored: - 6 - Half decent first half (probably a 7!) with some nice play and tackles. Showed in second half why he isn't a full back. Can't count the number of times he let the ball bounce. We all know never to do that!

Whittaker - 6 - Found plenty of space first half and was unlucky not to have two or three by half time. Disappeared second half along with the other 10 and hardley got the ball.

Abbott - 6 - Having to work hard for sod all. Gotta feel sorry for the lad - the only time he gets the ball, it's a long punt so not only does he have to control, he then has to do something with it. We need to get the ball down the line and throw some crosses in!

Blackman - 6 - Again, had to work hard for not much. We don't play balls through the channels which he is good enough to run into. He and abbott did it a few times only to not get the ball.

Summary is - we're ok at defending when the ball is straight down the pitch and high. I'd back hazell and gregan 99.9% of the time. Teams soon find that out and instead put the ball in behind, run at, or come in from angles with crosses. It's so much easier to harm us. We look like a soft touch at the back.

  5. The club whinges about losing money and the apathy in the town, but for minimal effort the turnover could improve ny thousands by just being pro-active. But knowing Latics they order the same amount of catering and proggies that they do for a cold winter's night at home to Bristol Rovers rather than an opening day derby against Stockport where there are double the fans. I despair at times I really do...

Bugs me how we haven't got a scoreboard either - how much advertising revenue has been lost since it broke?

  6. I was pretty annoyed yesterday at half time. The whistle went and i set off to get something to eat. I was served by about 10 to 4 so your talking no more than 5 minutes after the whistle. When I went through there were:

    No Pies (of any variety!)

    No Hot Dogs

    No Burgers

Do I have to miss part of the game to get a pie? They must have needed to serve 40-50 people AFTER me at least, so they've missed out on a few quid there.

    Shambles!

  7. I've had a couple of good looking bets this week..

Main one for me is on the handicap premiership....I've got Sunderland with about 24 points start. I think they'll have a cracking season. - 18/1

For some reason, i've got a massive hunch that Torquay will start with a bang against Chesterfield. A long way to travel to a ground where fans will be roaring on their team back in the football league. Managed to get 5/2 on that one :)

  8. I went to ibiza in the summer a few years back....looking back at my pictures, i'd say the 4 of us who went drank even more! We made a tower on the balcony of all the empties and by the end of the 2 weeks, you couldn't see the balcony! Anyway, when i got back to pre-season training towards the end of the summer, i was nearly a stone overweight and pretty unfit but by the time the season started, i was back to my normal weight and fitter than i had been the season before.

They've worked through the season, and they're on holiday - whose to say they shouldn't enjoy themselves. Maybe they needed that to get away and hopefully they'll come back ready and prepared to push themselves for next season.

Why does somebody need to search through photo's and then post them on here claiming this is why it's all wrong? Nothing better to do? If it had been during the season, or the verge of pre-season, i might be a tad annoyed, but not when their season has finished and it's not even mid-may!

  9. I watched wolfy (and taylor) play as kids being a couple of years older...wolfy always looked like a very decent finisher.....

I disagree with the statement "you're only as good as your strikers". I played as a striker, and I was quite a good finisher and decent enough on the ball. I played for 2 teams with the same strike partner, one decent and one rubbish team. Where did we score more goals? The decent team where chances were created.

If you look at the chances we created on Saturday, there wasn't agreat deal. Allesandra's only real chance was when he scored but had it disallowed and he took that VERY well. There is a distinct lack of quality balls down the channels, over the top and crosses. It's hard to score when this happens. I think both lewis and wolfy (with the right guidance) could score plenty. They may need to work on where to run and their positional game a touch, but thats a hell of a lot EASIER to learn than finishing.

You could say movement from the whole team is poor right now anyway!

  10. Showed what he can do against scunthorpe at home and at that point, him and Hughes were looking pretty good. We had one bad game after that (Yeovil) and Lewis was then dropped (for no reason) and never got another decent chance. Time after time he was left on the bench for anybody and everybody else (Windass, Kabba, Ormerod etc) when he should have been in the side. Is it any wonder that recently, when he has got a few minutes, he's struggled - Can you imagine what it did to a young learning player to score a hat-trick and then be dropped after one bad game where it wasn't even just him who played badly?
