I'm getting fucked off with the clubs lack of engagement at a pretty crucial time in the season, it's almost feels like them and us now and I really do fear for our attendances next season if there isn't a shift in mood, of course the clubs not obliged to disclose anything or even share their plans for the future but for me thats piss poor form that harks back to years gone by,

It's been compounded by Mellons disastrous stints in front of the camera recently which have frankly been on a par with his touchline antics and embarrassing for the club.

I'm not holding my breath - this is football after all where all business acumen goes right out of the window but what a shame it would be to start disenfranchising the fan base because they have received some criticism, it's a very dangerous game they are playing and I for one am turned off from it all.

    Good post 👍

Clarke was my absolute first choice too.

Look what he’s done at Cheltenham. Joined them end of September when they were rooted to the bottom of league 1 having got 1 point from the first 9 games and having not scored a single goal all season and a goal difference of -15.

They battered Peterborough tonight (18 shots to 7) and now just 2 points from safety.

Surely we’d have paid more than them, unless he simply wasn’t in the running…

And he is picking Nuttall 😮

Something, though, is rotten - in the mindset of the whole group (including the manager), and in the relationship between the playing staff and the fans.

It’s a collective ‘mental breakdown’ in footballing terms.

It seems that once it started, there was no way to stop it - it was painfully evident that most of the players had simply stopped playing how they could, and were hamstrung and shackled by the tactical approach and positional choices adopted by the management team.

Once it started, it spread throughout the squad and the season was lost.

The fans could quite clearly see this but are powerless to affect any change - this results in a breakdown in the relationship between fans and players and ultimately the manager.

The close-season is the time to reset and excise these demons but given the number who will still be here in August, it does not fill me with any hope that next season will be any better 😞

What galled me yesterday was the group of "supporters" who booed our players during the pre-match activities and at half time.

I don't boo myself, because I can't see the point, but totally respect the right of others if the performances are poor but to begin before the match has started is just stupid. 👎

If that did happen then those ‘supporters’ need to go and find something else to do on match day.

At some point, one of the owners needs to address the fans and ask for more patience and understanding…

at least until after we get thumped 4-0 at Tamworth on the opening day 😉

Sounds to me like someone telling  it as it is . But 5k dumbfucks dont want to listen or dont understand how bad the issues are .

Maybe he is part of the issue?

He played 5 (FIVE) centre backs today…

Where was Sachdev? Does his loan contract stipulate that he can only play one game a month or summat?

If Kitching is injured, then bring Couto back for the final game but don’t play Hogan at left back.

His holding midfielder once again was McGahey - play Sheron/Hammond/Gardner there fer chrissakes.

Why was Lundstram on the bench? He contributes far more than Conlon.

He talks of an imbalanced squad yet he had the opportunity to bring in SIX of his own players - and he started ONE of them today 😮

He has to hold his hand up and take some of the blame surely?

Something we've not really discussed is how the National League will look next season, relegations/promotions have not been very kind to us as it stands we will lose.

    Chesterfield

    Boreham Wood

    Kidderminster

    Dorking

    Oxford

And one from Barnet, Bromley, Altrincham, Solihull, Gateshead and Halifax

    And gaining.

    Forest Green

    Sutton

    Tamworth

    Yeovil

Plus two others, one of which is guaranteed to be a trek.

On the face of it that's horrendous and potentially even more miles to travel.

Not if you live darn sarf…😉

  7. Mellon post match:
    “We looked knackered”
“They’ve all got contracts for another year”
    and the best one…
    “I don’t understand why people don’t understand”
    Plus

    “There’s more going on…”
    “We’re imbalanced”
    “ It’s what I inherited”
    Etc etc
And when the interviewer asked MM why the season had fallen to pieces, he denied it, saying we had played some top teams and accused Alan of “lazy journalism”

I'd be surprised if he walks despite how despondent he sounds since he's sat on a 3yr contract. It's more a case of him backing the board into a corner which given his contract puts him in a position of relative power. Same with some of the players unfortunately. We might be paying the price for sometime.

His post match last night was very revealing imho.

He knows that he is stuck with a high number of the current underperforming squad for next season.

He knows that he needs to bring in a high number of better players next season.

He knows that, in order to bring in more than the budget will allow, he has to move on a number of the contracted players.

  9. It's good to be reminded of how optimistic so many of us were at the start of this season...

Optimism that was severely deflated after the first game and totally wrecked by match nine. There was then a short uplift during the Redfearn/Thompson tenure rising back to previous heights after the victory at Rochdale, only to come back down to earth the very next game... a period of renewed optimism was completely wiped out by our March madness.

We are going to finish 9th or 10th after a previous season finish of 12th.

Excited for this poll next August...

Stats department!! More trendy rubbish, you need a proper scouting network and management who will actually check  out recommendations.

It worked well at Nottingham Forest when I worked for Brian Clough and Peter Taylor, the likes of Gary Birtles wouldn't even be found on any stats database.

Gary Birtles joined Forest in 1982 - that’s 42 years ago!

It was a different time and things in football have changed dramatically since then…

Sadly your argument is outdated and no longer valid

    - time to get real methinks 🤔

^ And Mellon threw away a decent outside chance of a Wembley FA Trophy day out by putting out an understrength side against Hendon.

    Norman

    McGahey

    Raglan

    Hogan

    Sutton

    Ward

    Willoughby

    Lundstram

    Gardner

    Hope

    Walker

with Kitching, Norwood and Conlon coming off the bench.

Having equalised in the 93rd minute, we lost to a 96th minute goal…😮

Understrength? Possibly, but still should have had more than enough.

Nope. But a mate of mine has been advised he needs to take his physical ticket back to the ticket office in order for the refund to be processed. Which is clearly idiotic, given the shambles.

I will wait for my reply. I’m certainly not driving a two hour round trip for the privilege of my money back.

    From the official website:

"Supporters who wish to claim a refund on their match or coach ticket can do so in the following ways,.

If you have ordered online but have not collected your ticket, email supporter.services@oldhamathletic.co.uk by 4pm on Tuesday 23 April and your refund will be processed in 10 working days.

If you have already collected your ticket, please return your complete match ticket to the Latics Ticket Office by 4pm on Tuesday 23 April. The full ticket must be returned as proof of purchase.

Any refund for a coach seat must be claimed by using the email address above or in person by 4pm on Wednesday 17 April."
