  1. vs Spuds, couldn't tell you the year but I was 'stood' on the rocky terracing, so what's that 1991?? god knows, but spent the whole game not being able to see as i was knee high to a grasshopper, and sum copper felt sorry for me so passed some jelly babies through the metal fence for me to munch on  and before anyone says it, (awaits Peter File jokes)

didnt enjoy it anyway because i couldn;t see so didnt go back until we were in what was Div 1 (Championship), actually probably Charlton 1st game of the season when we won 5-2, super Sean Mccarthy brace?? saw a couple of years in that div and then been stuck in this god damn awful division ever since, oh how i'd love a promotion B)

    13/08/94

    Oldham Athletic. . . . . . . 5

    McCarthy 24, 57, Richardson 41, 70, Sharp 68

    Charlton Athletic. . . . . . 2

    Whyte14, Robinson 27

    Attendance: 8,924

  3. An interesting contradiction between your first two posts Barry - Probably summing up the fact that people who dont go will always find an excuse, whether that be the cost, or the fact that we had a useless pile of yorkshire poop in charge last season, or the pies are cold, or the lookers has been knocked down, or Man Yoo are on TV...

As has been said, its all gravy unless there is a decent product on the pitch. I always cringe when these things are announced because you can virtually guarantee the worst game of the season as a result. Lets just hope its a decent performance as that is the only thing that will ensure people come back.

.. and as has been said, this isnt some sort of high-horse competition. If it works, it works, if not, oh-well. Lets just hope it doesnt lead to another toys out of pram moment if no bugger chooses to turn up. I dont live in Oldham so I dont know - but I hope this is also being marketed properly. Shoving a couple of guilt trips on here and on the website isnt enough...

I asked 5 people yesterday who no longer go, 2 ignored me, one said maybe, will see on the day, another said defo, one said depends if they're back from their weekend break, asked 2 of them why they no longer go and what would make them come back, Lookers Stand, and playing in this mook division/stadium, both said they'd come back if we got promoted and or got a new stadium, and these aren't 'part-timers' they'd been long term supporters until 2/3 seasons ago.

  4. vs huddersfield away... the fans should try out the poznan... search into you tube
and see if we can start it for a great atmosphere

pass this round, and see if we can have a great day out, if we get everyone to do it, it'll be famous, the city game did it and see how many cameras there were, lets be that club... lets show how amazing our fans really are

funniest comment of the day so far for me

  5. The answer is to build on the Clegg Street warehouse site, refurbish the warehouse as an hotel and relocate Matalan.

    Perfect for the Metrolink too.

Planning permission there would be no problem I imagine.

Another soloution would be for Rochdale and Latics to build a joint stadium on Kingsway, I know there are Football league rules about clubs playing outside town boundaries, but surely the FL would see the sense is this if it meant both clubs could have a secure future.

Been saying the above 2 for years, the Matalan site would be perfect.

  6. Looking forward to some John Willy's in the Greyhound beforehand and a great game obviously!

i go in the Greyhound pre-match, and whats happened, it used to be rammed before games, now its quite empty, well im gonna answer my own question, its because no one goes to the games anymore

  7. Cheers Alex Balls, think sounds like the best bet to be honest

Looking forward to the game Saturday, should be a good game

    :D

    Your welcome.

yeah i'm looking forward to it, but i can't call which way it's gonna go, you've been top recently, hammered Rotherham tuther night but we're unbeaten at home, heart says we'll get summit, head says we won't, whats everyone else reckon?

  8. I would put it at a good 30-45 mins walk

to be honest pal, id go to a boozer near the ground, have a pint and ask the bar staff to ring you a taxi, take the taxi to Mills Hill Train Station, cost about a £5, then from Mills Hill its a 10-15 minute train journey to Manchester, and as stated earlier, the train station is directly under the MEN, so walk up the steps to the Arena.

The bus isn't a bad shout either, but if you don't know Manc your not gonna know where to get off, where the Arena is etc. But then again, im a fuss pot and wouldnt want to get lost lol
