Warhurst was quick though..nothing between them IMO

It was because of the pace of barrett & Warhurst that big Joe was able to play the 1-2-8 system .

Its 20 years ago to the day that Neil Redferan wrote himself into Oldham Athletic folklore with that penalty

 

Now I wasn't at this game as I was still going to games on occasions and being only 8 it depended on dependence taking me down still. 1990 was year 0 in my footballing life as Latics cup runs had reignited by dads enthusiasm for Latics and ofcourse after that came Italia 90.

 

The 90-91 season I was asking my dad to take me pretty often and got to plenty of games sat on a crush barrier in the Chaddy end terrace I loved the atmosphere. Back then the Chaddy held 6000 and was pretty much 90% full every week. With the prospect of this, the boundary park climate, having to adapt to a plastic pitch and facing a team who feared knowone and would go after you from the 1st whistle Boundary Park must have had the intimidation factor of a bear pit for any opposition player, manager, or even supporter stuck in the open ended RRE, and this showed in the home results that season P23 W17 D5 L1.

 

So anyone got any stories of that day/season? were you part of the pitch invasion. I do like reading the stories people come out with on here. particularly the more random ones.

Stood behind the goal at the Chaddy End.......As NR put the ball on the spot the scoreboard displayed the final score West Ham 1 Notts Cty 2

which as we all know meant he scores we win the title.......could not have made it up

I was at the Grimsby gane that brought out the lambs of sheepfoot lane thing, Just did not turn up.

Well done boys, confidence back into the team, hopefully play football with the extra spring in their step like at start of the season.

..or just another reminder of the perilous nature of football finance. Here it's Rangers, yesterday I read about the possibilkity of Coventry going into administration. If Simon Corney can keep us afloat, no matter how perilously, then fair play to him. But I'll remind everyone of the not wholly popular view that people who stay away are doing nothing to help the club by such action.

Really down about this result in particular. As terrible as our run of form has been, the last 6 games have been against form sides (bar Sheff Wed who have an expensively assembled squad) who we've been expected to lose to. Tonight was different, both teams have been in very bad form recently and we can't take advantage and at least get a point.

 

Tranmere has now become a relegation 6-pointer...how did it come to this?!

The start of this debacle coincided with the Failsworth No Go announcement and Corneys subsequent rant..followed by the late wages fiasco..... morale must be at

a very low ebb throughout the club no matter what Dickov says. The blame is squarely with Corney

Bullcote Lane is crying out for a widening....I remember it as a one cart track..its tarmac now but still a one cart track although they have traffic lights on it now.

Its a busy road these days esp at rush hour. Widen the thing and stick the new stadium where the non existent golf course should have been

Disappointed Dickov persevered with Taylor in centre-mid, the lad's wasted there and takes away our attacking link meaning the forwards were isolated all night. Reid needs games simple as and maybe White needs to drop to the bench on Saturday so Taylor can play in his roving role and we can use an actual midfielder. Disappointed tonight but not surprised….I think we will lose money on that tonight, not due to the crowd but due to the free for all!!!! Klitschko v Taggart anyone??? Highlight of the night!

My take on tonight is its Division 3...these players are not world beaters. They are inconsistent thats why they are in Div 3. Tounkare is a lump...Wrecking ball my arse. On tonights showing he just does not have a clue about where a centre forward should be or where to go. Beckett was short of skill but knew where to go...

Reid a stone too much weight...pace ? naah. The other "kids" are lightweight at times..... Taylor..made him captain.....oh please..he was running around like a headless chicken. Trotman head and shoulders above the rest.. Evina should play up front in my opinion..he has the pace and a fair shot on him..I dont think he is a defender. Amos..what a save that was in the first half? Carlisle midfield was sharp and got stuck in...ours had no control..Stephens would have given us that.

tounkare you are a big lad..its perfectly ok to jump for the ball at set pieces....
