  1. I'll back the decision made by the people who know the detailed financial and planning issues surrounding the proposed development. Ultimately I'm just a fan, interested in the football, who knows little if anything of the issue, in spite of how much I'd like to know or may believe I know. The size of ground and the way it looks is really not that important to me. I'll go with it, and reserve judgement until it's built, we play there and I experience it. Bring on 09/10 at BP.

  2. I'd rather look at it that we've got rid of a player in his thirties who is a very average player in this division and replaced him with someone five years younger who is certainly no worse a player, probably saving ourselves a few quid in the process that can be spent elsewhere.

Great to know we've got a player who can be average for us for the next 6/7 years then, as opposed to one who could have been for 1/2. And he can probabaly be a bit quicker around the field so he can have a even more average impact on the game. I'm getting excited about August now.

  3. Why????

Who says he has been told he has to make the playoffs?

The fact the board have sacked two managers who've contributed 4 consecutive top ten finishes suggests that that isn't acceptable. The day after we dropped out of the play-off places this year Shez was gone. Either the board are clueless and just respond to the general feeling in the stands or on the internet to keep themselves in favour (in which case you could be right), or they have a plan and Moore and Sheridan didn't provide the goods. The other possibility is that next year is going to be transitional in which case I can't see anywhere near 4500 turning up regularly never mind buying season tickets!!

I'm just trying to look at the most positive of those scenarios. Time and signings will tell.

  4. TTA are as guilty as anyone when it comes to impatience.

They've appointed 3 managers who they've then sacked which doesn't reflect well upon their own judgement and recruitment skills.

As yet, there's is no concrete evidence of decent financial backing for the new manager.

However, in spite of all that, I'm keen to see what Penney will do over the summer and hopefully I'll feel inspired enough to get to BP by the start of the season. Having sacked 2 managers who have contirbuted 4 consecutive top 10 finishes, I presume only the playoffs will do for TTA or Dave will be looking for a new job not long after he's finished finding a new squad for them.

  5. Always liked Stammy. Not the greatest player we'll ever see but a very honest, solid professional.

If the above reports are true it's very disappointing and Stammy deserves an apology.

Worst thing is, this stuff doesn't surprise me anymore.

All the best to Stefan, hope he gets sorted at a club sooner rather than later.

  6. He didn't change it at half-time he changed it with 20 minutes to go after we'd gone 3-1 down and you tell me when else during his 3 years in charge Sheridan's :censored: like for like substitutions worked?

Always makes me laugh when the tactical decisions of a guy who played over 600 professional league games are derided as ":censored:" by a fan. Pathetic.

  7. So you've decided Penney won't be able to find a defender who can jump higher than 6 inches and who can actually SPRINT and maybe win an attacking header!!!

As I posted before, if he was that good, how come he didn't feature in the division team of the year picked by his peers. Rose tinted glasses methinks!!!

He's gone! Time will tell if Penney has got it right. So start removing your black armbands and wipe away your tears for the last time and take the view that Penney knows his own mind and has more experience than we mortal fans.

Sheridan had far "more experience than we mortal fans", but it didn't stop you calling for him to "hang his head in shame" for his team selection at Milton Keynes.

As for team of the year, do you think Gregan is a popular character amongst opposition dressing rooms? And even if that's irrelevant, not being one of the best 2 centre-halves in the league doesn't make him one of the worst.

  8. After this season

give me a team consisting of hungry players who have stepped up from league two or lower, as opposed to the half arsed football from the team of 'billy big bolloxes' anyday

Just don't buy this argument, sorry. Cheltenham, Hereford, Crewe and Northampton were full of hungry but limited players this year.

If he can find players in League 2 or below who really have fallen through the net and are worthy of League 1 football, or even higher, then great. However, if you buy League 2 players, that's where you'll end up.

The manager deserves a chance, that's why I invite him to 'surprise me'.

But it raises the question - after Joe spent most of his time praising Gregan during his 9 game spell, was he saying different things behind his back to Penney, or has Penney thrown Joe's report on the squad out the window and made up his own mind.

Either way, it's not a problem but it's interesting to note.

  9. In yesterday's poll I said I wouldn't buy a season ticket but would attend home games.

Well, this decision means I will not pay 20 quid a fortnight unless players who are as good as Gregan and Hughes are brought in to replace them.

Best player and leading scorer gone and our own fans linking us with League 2 players is not making for an inspiring summer.

    Surprise me, Dave.
