  1. At times Dowie and Sheridan.

Results were good enough for me not to have to bother listening to b******t for a pick-me-up.

I wish the same could be said now and I hope it soon will be. I've never read so much garbage on here as I have in the last 18 hours or so. Christ, it's a football club. We need players, skill, passes, dribbles, tackles, headers, saves, goals, results, points. Words count for nowt come 5pm on 27th April. Over time Dickov was unmasked by the hard cold facts of results and the league table.

I'm delighted there's a game so soon (weather permitting) to give us something more tangible than sh*t-chat to debate.

  2. Ultimately any appointment is a gamble. I think we're heading down as I think Dickov generally signed crap players that anyone would struggle to mould in 6 weeks. We probably need 15 points from 10 games. If we do it, I'll congratulate him. If not I hope he instills a little confidence for next year at the very least. I couldn't give a :censored: what he's said to anyone tonight. I turn up on a Saturday and the odd Tuesday, and I'll judge him on performances and results and nothing else. So far, I have no opinion other than to say we've got the same :censored:e squad we had yesterday.

  3. Bit of a taboo in football isn't it, accepting that a manager or player may "go on to better things".

Thing is, if he is to be a long term success at a higher level then I think he needs to have lower level success early on, and that means tangible progress over a few seasons. If he does that then good for him, and more importantly, good for us.

You make a very valid, fair point garcon. I just wish Simon didn't use the unveiling of a new manager to talk about said manager leaving us!

  4. SC: "my gut feeling is that we have made the right choice."

    Phew!

SC: "I would like to think we are the stepping stone for Lee to go on to greater things which I believe he will."

What about the club Simon? What about us? OAFC? In the space of a week we're told Furman deserves his opportunity and now the new manager will go on to better things. I couldn't care less about better things, Simon. Let's better ourselves.

  5. Last time we were in a similar position with a manager taking over from a TP caretaker stint and in the :censored: was when Moore was appointed.

At the time it gave us some hope - he had a track record with little money at Rotherham, had a style which we knew would be ugly but would give us a chance of results and then we got Beckett in on loan.

This time, Johnson has no track record and we don't know his style, but will there be a Luke-esque signing this time around? Answers on a postcard from NYC please, with a cheque or white flag enclosed.

  6. As I've already commented, without response, although I'm sure Barry's inbox is filling up quickly, a meeting with the owner and board should happen. If not now, at the end of the season or when our league status is confirmed. And preferably when as many as possible will be able to attend. We might not be the majority shareholders and therefore not able to make the decisions, but we are the majority stakeholders in the club and there are significant worries growing about its future and direction. The fans will back the manager, he's not the reason we're where we are. He also doesn't have any questions to answer about his performance just yet. The owner and board do. Let me know your thoughts in your own time Barry.

  7. Sufficient coaching staff to get us through it all.

A Chairman who wants to take the club forward.

    A massive fan base.

FA Cup funds that the Chairman will lavish on great signings.

    Top class executive boxes.

    A superb TV gantry.

    A well tarmaced car park.

A young centre back who never gets turned in his own box.

A right back with great distribution.

    The next Rooney.
