  1. No-one can blame the fans, but I can’t believe the attitude of people has gone so negative. 24 hours ago it was so positive. Then again I suppose thats the world we live in. We weren’t that good 24hours ago. And we aren’t that bad now.
  2. Rose tinted? Erm - I do make a point of mentioning his greediness and how frustrating he is. Putting him in the reserves is one solution. I personally wouldn't. Thats just me. As for his problem with Hughes. I've never asked him. What did he say to you when you asked him?
  3. We are a lower league team with players who at times play some good stuff and at times play some tripe. (Like all lower league teams). The home record is definitely playing on the players minds – confidence is something which plays a massive part in sport and its the easiest thing to lose and hardest to gain. There are no excuses, I think the players need to feel free to play with more freedom at home. Whether that’s the fact they feel under more pressure at home / they are expected to win or what, but some of the absolute drivel that is spouted by some Latics fans is embarrassing and I’ve had many an argument it BP (and some away games – anyone who was at Crewe near me last season will have seen it!) with some of our fans. Before the Everton game we knew the problems. They did not go away after that and new ones appear. This barracking of Davies is disgraceful. Its the first time we have had a striker with genuine pace who pulls defenders around, creating space for someone in years. YES he is greedy, YES he is raw and YES he is frustrating at times, but there is so much to work with. Anyone who can’t see that needs to actually watch the game. Brian Clough said man -management was all about telling off one player and putting an arm around a different player for doing the same thing. I think Davies personally is the latter. There is certainly no holier than thou attitude with me. I have had a go at times, but its the singling out of players that really gets to me and its that which I am really talking about. I remember a home game earlier this season and the abuse Smalley got was really bad. The only time I’ve ever been ashamed to be a Latics fan was at Barnsley away. Not at getting beat 4-0, but what Mr. Butcher was subjected to. It was appalling. There are a lot of good things coming out of this season, more than I expected to be honest.
  4. Well said. There is plenty to work with. He is raw, sometimes needs telling off, ut lots of strikers need that. He will be a good striker. I'm sick of laticxs fans getting on some players backs. Hughes never ever gets stick. A perfect example was Donny. When davies missed his chance through on on one he was slated. In the lat minute hughes missed one on one.. "HUGHESY HUGHESY HUGHESY" Rang around the place. Why, surely he should have been barracked? I am not having a go at hughes, I'm saying this favourtism culture that latics fans have really gets to me and I can see myself being thrown out one day as I have a go at one of our own "supporters".
  5. I cant believe when I am reading here. I remember saying two years ago that Porter had something about him. So does Davies. He's raw, but there is plenty to work with.
  6. I dont like Tranmere, but ronnie was given a very rough deal here. I for one hope he does well... just after he's left the trannies.
  7. Anything is better than that yellow one
  8. Everyone over a certain age will always say that the younger ones only know about the more recent signings but - I suppose it depends on how well we do under his mnagement. He was a great player, helped us through 2 relegation battles, stuck around under the darkest days the club have possibly ever had and is now managing. Not many signings (especially freebies) have been at BP for 10 years. I do conceede though he may not be "the best". It does depend on how we do under him. A promotion and he could well be. The nominations: Roger Palmer - Definately in the running Andy Ritchie - Would be stupid not to put him in it Bobby Johnstone - Wasn't alive to appreciate his significance, but bow down to peoples age and wisdom. John Sheridan -See above Whilst others make claims for others, I can't see how anyone comes close.
  9. Could it be John Sheridan? Free transfer in 1998 (nearly been with us for 10 years, me time flies)
  10. Clarke would be an excellent signing, but IMO £200k is too much. We don't know how much money the club has so I'm not going to comment on whether we can afford him, but it is IMO too much. (we might be paying less though?)
  11. I hate this away kit we have now. I wanted the red away kit. Late 80's early 90's style. Rather stay in the orange mess we have now though than that "yellow" one.
  12. Pogs, let go crossley, keep as no 2 Stam, keep Trotman, Keep - WE MUST KEEP!! Lomax, keep Liddell, Let go, been a good servant, but he will be on a decent wage and pass MacDonald, keep Smalley, keep Kelly, 1 year deal Alessandra, keep Wolfenden. Let go
  13. Shez obviously wants him. If we get him Hughes Davies and Clarke as a front 3 or rotating would scare me if I was a defender of a league one side. And the key player is Davies. Pace kills people. A big reason we were able to beat everton was his pace and moving defenders. Perfect with Clarke. Clarke also drops deep. IMO would be a good signing. Hughes would also benefit from flick ons and the lke.
  14. I meant Steve Brooker! Paul was at Brentford I think? Thomas Cywka would also be good. Brooker has had some really bad injuries - he's got class though. I think Kenny Lunt would be my first choice IF we can get him. A top lower league midfielder. Would be a great replacement for Kilkenny.
  15. Right I know we beat a premiership team, bt one or two (in my opinion 3) additions are needed to the squad. A left back - but I think Lomax is more than capable, a striker (we only have 2 really) and a creative midfielder. Wouldn't mind seeing a left winger too. If we can. Options - Alan Goodall (left back) and Matt Spring (central midfield) (Both luton) - Aparently there maybe a fire sale @ luton. The only thing is I can see them wanting to play at anfield. Spring is a player I rate highly. Colin Nish (striker - Kilmarnock) Dont know much about him except he's 6ft 3 and a striker! Paul Brooker (Striker - Bristol city) 20 clubs have enquired about taking him on loan. Wouldn't be surprised if we are one of them. Kenny Lunt (Sheff Wed - Central Midfield) - On the fringes at Wednesday. A player I rate highly. Picks a pass and good from free kicks. Leon Clarke (Sheff wed - Stiker) We know all about him John Spicer (Dingles) - Always rated him. Not seen anything saying he is injured, but not featuring for them. Tidy player Picks a pass. Scott Vernon (Lashers) - See Leon Clarke Also I do think this side has a good chance of going up. Maybe not this season, but if we can keep most of it. Add 3 or so more to the squad and it can. We need a summer where we don't have a massive overhaul, we just make a few additions and let 1/2 go. The kids will come on too.
  16. We are 22 in the draw. My mum (an everton fan) said to me after we beat crewe she thought we'd get Everton. So I've asked her again. She has said we'll get Preston. If she's right I'll be going to that game by helicopter as she will have also given me saturdays lottery numbers.
  17. I found them to be very welcoming. Except when I got home. My mum is an evertonian and she wasn't as pleased. £8 to park? We parked for free on a sidestreet on the otherside of the cemetary. My mum did mention parking round there is easy and free. If we get liverpool. I think we'd park there again.
  18. Spring or goodall for me would be perfect. I agree we need another striker, but would rather see it go on fleetwood from Forest Green or someone on loan.
  19. Do we want him? Reading some papers he might be about to sign. We do need another central midfielder and a left back. Goodall from Luton - if they need the money?
  20. Name? Ryan Hamer Location? Rochdale How Long Supporting the Tics? Since 1988 Best away match you've been to? Leeds away 1/1/08, most solid performance All Time Greatest Player? A toss up between, Lord Kangana Ndiawa and Rick Holden. Tricky Ricky just gets it Biggest Rivals (in your eyes)? I hate Man U, Man U, Man U and Leeds.
