while i am in semi agreement with the boycott idea, surely it would benefit our players playing in front of 3 n half thousend tics creatin a great atmos than an empty stand.

I have made a couple of changes based on suggestions here.

You should have gone to the game or should read the post match thread; it was nothing like the Latics of last season. They had effort, commitment and skill. None of that was shown last season!

exactly, we were on the edge of our seats throughout, the substitutions made sense, Brill coming up for corners, each player played with their heart on their sleeve. the latics of old would of been convincingly hammered last night. THIS IS THE NEW LATICS, a new era! stop talking sh** FFS!

I never cared for what Lee Hughes did. Not my role to pass judgement, rightly or wrongly. Highly paid people wearing silly wigs decide on whether or not someone should be in prison, and how long they spend there. What I saw from lee was that he was repentant, and really willing to make the best of what was left of his career. I am also fully aware of Lee's totally alleged actions around Oldham...

 

However - I fully believe Lee Hughes is the reason I still support this football club (along with a few Oasis drinking partners... ). In the 8-10 games Bournemouth away and following (espeicially the away games) after Hughes banged in his first two goals, were some of the most exciting I have ever seen watching Latics (well, since the glory days obviously). We had a striker who terrified defences, and scored goals out of absolutely nowt. Something which we havent had since the 90's (bar fleeting glimpses from Wijnhard IMO), and probaby with the state of the club - and mediocrity of the football moving forward, wont have again. I turned up for the first time in bloody ages, expecting to win, as we had Hughes in the team. I know people didnt like it/him... but I havent seen a 'togetherness' in the crowd like that for ages... anyone who was at a game like Millwall away will know what I mean. Just a fantastic half a season or so...

 

Yep, it all fell to pieces, and Lee 'seemed' to be fishing around. However he was frigging great for us. He's moved on (rightly for many reasons) however if he decided to walk into latics on saturday and pull on an Oldham shirt - he would still be the best striker we have got.

 

I cant be there on saturday, if I was I'd cheer him to the rafters. I hope he scores a hat-trick to show how good he is.... but we win 4-3.. obviously...

 

Anyway....

How about this season we hold a flag day at latics, anyone fetching a flag thru the turnies gets a ticket to go into a draw for a signed shirt or summat, the flags are designated n area and the big ones can go on display in one o the stands an the small uns can be flown from yer seat (not during play) I love my flags and am very proud to display em, i'm sure others are the same, and wouldn't it bring a bit o colour n cheer in to the ground, I for 1 would love a photo of a stand full o latics flags.......or is it just me?

Think it was 589, really cant fault that performance tonight full of effort, we actually had a go at them and made them look second best, well done to penney for trying a new formation and putting players in there correct position!!!! I can accept defeat when we put in 90 minutes of graft, just wish we had been doing that every game this season.
