Did anyone else notice that Windass was warming up in just socks? My take on it is that he had his pink boots ready to go but as he didnt get on till the dying moments spat his dummy and put his usual ones on.
and Phil Brown in the crowd as well..........oh how he must have been laughing all the way back on the M62. Highly embarassing for Mr Windass.

We are at the 'run-in' stage of the season now.
Tneet we play a lower table team that will bring a handful of fans.
It has 'we can't even beat lower table teams' written all over it.
There are not that many games left of the season.
Time for us all to rally round and mekk some noiz and really back the lads.
Let's get it going tonight lads eh - woddya reck?
You're flogging a dead horse trying to get some enthusiasm on here Leezy.
Its much easier and a lot more fun to some to constantly have a go at players/tactics/managers/other fans/drummers/chief exec/chairman/lack of atmosphere/stewards/heat of pies than actually agree to turn up and give some unconditional support to the club.
-
I've seen some of them, they make our youth look hard
Impossible
-
Oh I dont know...he got you a clean sheet at Leicester...
Not bad.....but at the suspected wages....could do better. No doubt he will sharpen up with games under his belt. Might be useful as the season gets to the business end. Experience could count for a lot

according to my mate the Millwall fans just spent a lot of the game singing about how much they hated Lee Hughes
a tasty encounter coming up methinks

I agree, with Hughes and Windass upfront we miss speed so to have Smalley helping out makes sense. I thought Smalley had a pretty good game however he went missing a bit in the 2nd half. I think Latics need to be more ruthless and not to take their foot off the pedal when we have them on the back foot. Northampton were a very poor side and we should of scored 3/4 past them but It's still an improvement on previous games.
I prefer to state that we made Northampton look poor.

I was very impressed with him yesterday. Quick, tall, strong and always played a neat pass and he took players on from a defensive position when the time was right. Hope we can sign him til May. IMO looked class.
I sometimes wonder whether I go to the same game. Don't get me wrong, he wasn't woeful, but I thought he certainly showed signs of rustiness.
Class? Wow, thats a strong word. Maybe its just another example of the OTT nature of some comments from fans.
I wish him well, but would prefer to see him in a few more games before casting judgement.

Frank Ashton
Frank has been missing since November. Has been going for 40+ years , many of you will know him.
Back in the 60s/early 70s was known as "Mad Frank" , in the Glodwick Mob.
Anyone with information should contact:
Oldham Police
Tel: 0161 856 9075.
Hope he is found safe and well.
Do you think we should set up a search for the other 8,000 or so Latics fans that have been missing for the last 20 years?
-
You know what, I don't see much moaning there, just a fair assumption of the game from stuck up in the corner.
Some people need to take off the happy clappys and see it for what it was - very winnable even with ten men. It wasn't like we lacked chances on the night.
Derek.
Whatever....yawn....
Attention seeking by any chance? Sad get.

Like the way he 'said it as it is' when he walked out of the planning metting saying TTA were pulling out? Didnt happen did it?
I am ashamed to be associated with you.
You are the kind of idiot which no doubt gets under TTA skin on a daily basis.
Why the hell do you persist in coming to BP if you dont intend to support the club?
FOOLISH in the extreme

good signing if fit
tbh my friend, whether you think he is a good signing or not is of no consequence to me.
I'd prefer to ask Gary Glitter for childminder advice rather than Ask you for your opinion re football.
-
According to the OS Shez and the Yorkshire set went sledging and didn't make it to BP.
Did we miss out on anything ( Killkenny ??)
Another troublemaker!
Yes...its good enough.
-
It isn't my money so it's easy for me to say and I'm not talking about anything on the Chris Moore scale, but I think we need to gamble a little to get ourselves out of this division. It looks like TTA are of the same thinking as well, they've given Hughes the best contract offer they could and have said players will only leave if the money is right.
Agreed. V happy with TTA from day one to be honest. If anyone deserves their day out at Wembley that Windass eludes to, its them.
-
Both.
Regarding whether Hughes will stay, i still think it's our decsion to make rather than being forced by money constraints. I think the departures of JP, Thompson and Byfield will have funded the Windass deal. I can't see 2 squad players leaving as being purely coincidental.
Losing Hughes wouldn't hurt quite as much now though. Dont get me wrong, I'd love to see Taylor and Hughes both stay, but the realist in me thinks that TTA have to balance the books at some stage.
I keep thinking back to what SC said in his interview on LW. He was calculating the worth of Hughes for the rest of the season. After tomorrow, 21 games left. If Hughes picks up 3 more bookings (a given) then that totals 10, automatic 3 game ban. That leaves 18 games left. As he goes for free at the end of the season, a £400,000 offer works out to him potentially costing us £22,000 a game....plus his wages.
It's a tough one to call.
-
Don't want to be picky, but on the OS the deal was done in Bradford and not at BP as mr/mrs ford indicates
Advice......if you dont want to be picky....then dont be

Dean Windass has signed until the end of the season, he will make his debut tomorrow against Hartlepool.
Just seen him leaving BP with who looked like John Hendrie who could be his agent.
I have also heard that the Hughes to Doncaster deal is all but done and that Chris Taylor will be signing for Sheffield United for £650,000 before the end of the transfer window.
Personally think Windass is a great signing!
Ktf
Great scoop fordstandreject, well done for not rising to the knock downs from some of the posters on here.
On the basis you got the Windass signing spot on, did the CT rumour come from the same party?
-
to the tune "oh pretty baby"
We love you Hughesy
sign on the dotted line
we love you Hughesy
sign on the dotted line
we love you hughesy
we'll even lend you a pen
-
Surely special mention has to be made of the glorious attempt at half time.
Franny could barely control himself!
That corner flag is such a long way away.....no disgrace in not reaching it!
(great limbering up btw!!!)
-
Pleasant, saying they would like to keep my details for future v. work.
Yes, I can imagine where they may have filed it...........
-
Didn't get too good a view of it cos i was at the other end but looked very similar to the 1st pen last week - if it was a foul then shouldn't it have been a red card?
No....the ball was moving away from goal, therefore not a clear goalscoring opportunity.
-
im bored now anyway hopefully he will leave!!
Aw bless.
Have you been out for a couple of pints today and got yourself a bit hot and bothered love? Blimey, it seemed for a while there you found an opinion in the bottom of one of your shandy glasses.
Shame you haven't got the gumption to argue the point further.

When we loaned him out, no-one really counted Stockport as a rival!
When we loaned him out, no-one really wanted him here!
Well said.
It's great that Davies is showing again. The break from here has done him good. Lets hope he brings the form with him.
Nobody is mentioning the fact he was booed of the pitch by the County fans last week then?
Bring back Royle

I spoke with Royle late last year.
It's a no I'm afraid. We're far too small for him. If he was to have one last crack it'd "have to be the right club"
