Brendan O'Callaghan did he ever play for us?
Yes,Just before he went on to star in Magnum!
-
Most Oldhamers and Rochdalians talk with (false) Manc-type accents these days.
Noticed that recently when I was in Asdoh!

So whats your prediction for that game Leeds 650 for 6 declared Latics 123 all out. If we can we need to loan warney back for that game hopefully the pitch will turn abit for him
LOL,Are you trying to put a bit of Spin on the Topic??
-
its stupid this talk how can people tell whether your from oldham or rochdale if u dont wear colours
Easy,Different accent-we say Goalkeeper they say Gaulkeeper,we say Milnrow they say Milnrer, we say Whitworth they say Whiterth.
Just staart a conversation about these subjects and you will soon find out!

Got to admire the guy for doing this, can't see many other local businesses making such a large financial commitment in the present economic climate.
I have known Eddy more years than i care to remember,as the official site states,he is a true Latics fan of many years standing.
I would like to congratulate him and hope that his sponsorship is a success.
Indeed a Lifelong Latics fan and unlike a lot of people in the Town,is prepared to put his money where his mouth is,as commented already,in pretty lean times for the Building trade.

Isnt calling them black racist ?
Discuss
I was brought up in the Seventies to say Coloured not to offend People of Afro Carribbean origin ,in the late eighties/early nineties your PC brigade insisted we call the same People Black as Coloured is a patronising term.
Now it seems to have gone full circle.
All my Friends of West Indian Origin dont give a flying Sh1te what people say,its just your Pc do- gooders who make an issue of these things!!!

I remember Stockport away clashing with GB Vs AUS at COMS a few years ago meaning I had too miss the game.
Not sure about that,we left Edgely at full time, got the first train to Picadilly where there was a big line of Taxis taking people to COMS, We got a Taxi to Royton and caught Kick off in the Dog!
-
It's before my time but Alan Groves was before Palmer.
I was going to say this for a laugh,Grovesy wasnt Black, Half caste, mixed race or qiuarter caste!!!!
Car Valentine was the first non white player I can remember.

yeah hats off to you both for what you are doing 25 miles for one day is hard but for 8 days on the spin it takes a lot. We'll give you a big reception on the pitch on August 9th
I Think a Big Foot Trough filled with Soapy Warm Water would be more appreceated!

they used to have members didn't they?
I think 2000 is a fair amount, it's probably just under the number we'll take if there was an unlimited number, we'll be doing the same with Stockport no doubt. Most of my Stockport supporting mates dont think it's fair that they'll only get 1800, but when have they ever take over that number to BP in the past?
Like Crewe,Lucky to get 1000 coming from Stockport.

I was just thinking about it again and remember the sports shops in town.
Schofields on Union St ( I used to play cricket with Pete)
Wilsons Sports on Yorkshire St.
Remember Monkhouses near the Golden Disc?
Famous for selling Bugger all!
Exile, did you ever buy Football or Cricket boots from Domingo street Shoe shop?
The Cricket boots where like Pit Boots with wood nailed to the bottom with spikes glue on!
Also, wasnt the Tangerine Shop where the Himalia Indian was, think its Gruber Garrets now?

My mate came up for the Bristol City 3-3 the other year so I took him to the Tavern after a forced march through Tangs. The finest scenery in Oldham followed by 4 exceptionally quick pints of the finest beer known to Mankind soon showed him what my part of the world is all about.
The Dog on Middleton Road in Royton is a staunch Latics Pub,Only 15 minutes walk from ground, same beer as RR and THT.

Not very often then ?
Can imagine the conversation with Mrs Blumax
Mrs Blumax : Shall with go and visit my mother ?
Blumax : What again ? we only visited her last year !
I DID TELL HER SHE HAS GONE UP IN MY ESTIMATION!!

As much as I love the Cricket Season, the Fixtures day is always one of the big days in the British Summer.

When we visit my Mother in Law in Majorca, often bump into Big Joe who has a Place out there near Santa Ponsa Marina.
Born again Christian Nigel Benn now lives there, perhaps he wanted to be closer to God?

So,all said and done, we wont be getting a midweek tie at Gillingham in February then?
-
Just thinking was it that second leg where a Latics fan got a dart in the head for his trouble, or was that another game over there at the Clorets, or have I imagined that all these years?
I do know that Celtic took Turf Moor apart in the semi final, using the fence railings as spears at one stage. I know this cos my mates Dad refused point blank to take us if we played Celtic in the final!
No,the match Dave "Nutty Hazelhurst got the dart in his head was a saturday League match,a week after Celtic ran riot there.
Nutty said the dart caused no permenent damage but as he later went on to support City I would say that was debatable???

In a seperate post KLatics4Ever talks about journeys to Greenock to watch Latics in the Anglo Scottish Cup, 78ish.
Anybody else travelled to these far- flung places (St. Mirren is another) in what must surely has been a tiny but quality support.
Personally remember Burnley stuffing us in the home leg of the Final, did anybody bother turning up for the return leg which ironically we won.
Very, very interested.
We did in fact take a very good following to Burnley that year, well before the Bandwaggon Jumpers joined us and left us in equal numbers.

Is that the same person who is on loan from Sunderland?
Wouldnt be surprised, the sort of player Keene would like in his squad, perhaps a bit too old for the Premiership?
Perhaps they kept him on the books in case they went down, ideal man for a promotion drive.
-
I think it will be Rochdale if they go up or Stockport if they go up. If not we always have are lanchesire yorkshire derby with Huddersfield. We will see.
Stockport could bring their usual 500 fans to BP!
-
Got a feeling Livermore will be the Kalala-like replacement and Jarrett in for McDonald. A ball playing midfielder as well as those and we'd have a pretty mean looking midfield next season.
If its "mean" you are looking for I wonder if the Wendies are releasing Graham Kavanagh. Natural winner, experienced, just what we are looking for?

muck money is that like a back hander
Comes from the Scottish "Many a Muckle makes a Mickle Phrase"

There would be uproar, they sold out of pies at five past three last week!
