  1. Think with Warney we can be in Danger of letting our Hearts rule our Heads.Terrific, Commited Clubman and, having met him a few times,a very nice Guy and a bit of a Character with it.

When my Mate Sponsored Ricky Butchers Kit, the Club put Warney on our Table at the end of season do as Ricky was far too shy to sit on a Table full of Strangers.Warney Revelled in it and as a result got himself a Kit Sponsor for the following Season!

He was sat with us at the end of that Season and was quietly confident he would get a contract going off the amount of awards he won.The rest is History,Think we got him at the right time when he was at a Physical and Mental Peak where he punched above his weight, would have been a hard act to follow the next season.

  2. So to add my own bit (like you want to hear it). Warne is in my top 3 favourite players of the last ten years, along with Gregan (favourite) and Wellens (2nd), and I like to think for good reason. Whether it is for walking off at Gillingham clapping us or every moment he put in more effort than any player I've seen (including Ernie). I think he's great and wish him all the best in the small career that now remains.

NB. I would have released him too, just not in the same manner.

    Last Ten Years???

What about Sheridan, Eyres and the likes of Stretch,Onesize,Clint Hill and Hughsey?

  3. Odd - I thought the second half was more equal. First half I felt that Town completely dominated the game and must have wondered how the hell they were a goal down instead of one up.

That said I think you were still the better team second half - and to get point from the game was more than we deserved.

ONLY ONE MARK ALLOTT ,ONLY ONE MARK ALLOTT

    HES NEVER A WHINGHER

    AND NOW HE IS GINGER.....

  4. Roger palmer!!!!!!!?????

Joking apart,we would never get a FOOTBALLER of his quality for anything like that sort of money.

I stressed FOOTBALLER as there is a lot more too his game tahn being just a striker, I hold him in the same esteem as Ritchie,Eyres and Sheridan.

The one thing that could and probably will see him go is this could be his last chance of a big Earner.

  5. This bloke was Bolton boss when they had that title winning season in the late 70's, Didn't we sign Stevie Taylor from Bolton?

Indeed we did,Greaves had Sam Allardyce,Frank Worthington, Alan Gowling and a young Peter Reid in his side round that time, I always hated Bolton round then but my Dad wouldnt let me say a bad word about Ian Greaves as he was held in very high esteem with my Dad and Mates from the Shaw and Royton Area, Local Lad done Good.

Think he was a fair Cricketer, played for Crompton if I remember rightly.

    R.I.P.

  6. I agree with you 100%.

I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that a lot of football fans are just f*****g goons.

Makes you wonder Dave?I think you are lucky to have a Dad and Uncle who are lifelong fans who have seen a lot of the bad times ,and who dont think we have a divine right to be in the Top two Divisions.

With the exception of Doncaster (Who incidentally have a Wealthy Chairman and a good forward thinking council),who could we honestly say we are a bigger Club than,in the top 2 divisions?

  7. I missed The Redfearn Goal as I was Playing Cricket,as founder member of the Club I was emotionally Blackmailed into playing!

I missed the goal what sent Blackpool down about 8 years ago as my then 3 year old Lad wanted to go for a dump!

Ironically it was the first game I had been to in about a month because My newly born Daughter was in Hospital on Special Care, even more ironic was that the day she was born (10 weeks early) I missed the game but saw Holties goal from a delivery room in the Mat Ward, I could only see a third of the pitch and he scored after about 10 seconds of me going in the room!

  8. whatever he did he wasnt as bad as whittacker today...

I am a Whittaker Fan but he was absolutely Crap yestoday, tried to be far too clever at times instead of sticking to the basics.

Also,as I have said in Previous posts,Hughes is by far the best Footballer we have got, but, the last half hour he looked jaded and a little uninterested, are the Rumours starting to rub off in the Dressing Room?

  9. Possibly a couple of years earlier. '75/'76?

And it may have been the same season they took us apart at Craven Cottage with George Best leading the way in front of the MOTD cameras. 5-0, I think it finished. We played in tangerine shirts and white shorts.

It was 74/75, Our first season in the then Division 2.Played Sunderland at home a few week later then United on Boxing Day a couple of weeks after that.

  10. Its about time the Clubs stood up to the League and got these stupid fixtures stopped,we shouldnt have any nightmatches after the Clocks go back and then none until the Clocks go forward.

On saying that at least we were lucky tonight having two teams who wanted to play Football and a Referee who wanted the game to flow.

    4 Minutes extra time??????

  11. .

although it looked like the Carters on a "teletext fan only night" when the scum are playing, a roaring trade in AIG shirts were in attendance

If I come accross these people I love asking them advice on "how to get from Brian Statham way to the Theatre of Dreams" ,the Dumstruck look on their face is Priceless (You woud think I was asking for directions to Wagga Wagga) and you can always say "Sorry Mate,I thought you was a Man united fan!" to completely deflate them.
