  1. I’m not in the Mellon Out camp yet but this continues til end of the season and he could be in trouble.

The drop off has been startling. We were never brilliant but we were solid and relatively efficient for a period. It’s gone to absolute shit this last few months.

But what I will say, the players need to take some responsibility. Their attitude from Unsy and now under Mellon is disgraceful.

Hobson & Kitching have been diabolical of late. Conlon - he’s been here long enough to stand out, which he doesn’t. Hammond just runs about, no quality whatsoever.

This is a squad of players that just have no belief whatsoever.

It's gone very quiet on that front. Can't see it being in place any time soon

Didn’t Dale bring the 3 up topic up in their announcement that they’d been taken over?

As for the topic, I think we need 7 players, and largely to compete for starting spot and not squad fillers.

    RB

    CB

    LB

    CM

    CM

    LW

    RW

Players like Hogan, Sheron, Fondop, Garner should be squad players. Possibly even Kitching.

I actually believe there’s a player in Lundstram. We need another quality midfielder in there with him if we play a 3, and he needs options out wide because that’s what none of our midfielders have had all season.

So devoid of width and pace this season it’s incredible.

  3. Mellon needs to let the leash off now. We’re getting cut adrift. Be more expansive, if we’re more open and we concede so be it. At least fail trying than attempting to scrape thru.

We absolutely need 7/9 out of the next 3 games. Problem is I think it’ll be 6 and we’ll get brushed aside at Alty. Solihull are the ones to catch for me. They’re running out of players.

So my statement of not selling out was correct then? Everyone who wanted to go was able to do so, and I reckon even if they don’t give us more than the initial 2400 it’ll be the same for Halifax. Definitely agree that results of our next 5 could determine that, but I’ll maintain 2400 will be enough.

Tbh I think the official wasn’t very clear on this. So many times it was rumoured to have been sold out, then some were available, then sold out. People tried buying some of the apparent remaining tickets and had trouble doing so.

all the time. do you drink a lot before matches?

    Behave.

A couple of passages of play don’t account to playing it on the deck as such. We’re a lot more direct and tbh, I’m not arsed if gets us out of the division.

Well that wasn’t very good was it? Honestly I just can’t believe how poor we are at playing football, we seem incapable of passing the ball at any kind of pace on the ground to our teammates. I guess it’s just this division and we are still capable of scraping 07th spot.

Er, Barnet were away to Aldershot who went above us with the win and Alty lost at Hartlepool who are now making a late push for 7th, frankly I would have preferred they had both won as we are really battling the likes of Halifax, Aldershot and maybe Pools for the last playoff spot, not a chance we are consistent enough to get anywhere close the the top 5

    Not consistent enough?

    23 points from the last 11 league games (W7 D2 L2).

Ill take that again right now til the end of the season.

With all Kewell's attacking players in a 7 at the back I doubt it.

Your opinions on Mellon are bizarre.

A multiple promotion/title winning manager in the lower leagues, yet because he doesn’t play 442 you harp on about the Kewell days.

I agree those games were entertaining (80+ goals in a season was it?), but we also conceded 70+ didn’t we?

Give me pragmatism and 3 points every day of the week.

And please please please, stop harping on as though there’s no hope unless we adopt a 442 formation. Jesus.

I like Green, he’s one of the very few players who takes the man on. Scares the shit out of defenders at this level.

Interesting you say that, because that’s the one thing I criticise him for. I genuinely think he’s pretty shit, but due to his pace, he should look to run at the full back every time. I don’t think he does that anywhere near enough.

Even a shit cross can cause a little havoc.

  9. Far from me to defend City as I don’t like them (they’re turning more and more into why we despise(d) United with each passing day), I’m struggling to criticise them for this.

If it makes it easier for fans to get to games, without Oldham blue tinted glasses on it’s a positive move.

I also don’t think it will affect our attendances all that much either. With City’s growing popularity, tickets will be harder to get as the years go by. Away days are difficult to get tickets for for a number of my big city supporting mates, and it won’t get any easier.

I’m also of the opinion that lower league football - League One downwards - is becoming more attractive to younger people. More affordable, more attainable tickets, and there’s more media and social media coverage of lower league football than there ever has been.

The only way we continue increasing our support base is winning games consistently, showing ambition and - at times - playing decent football. It doesn’t have to be Pep ball does it?

Speaking to my City mates, games are largely just a procession now. How boring is it to rock up to a game and wondering whether you’ll win 4 or 5 nil. Some have even welcomed potential relegation to the lower leagues. Bring back an element of the unknown on a match day. I mean fuck me, I honestly cannot remember the last time I watched Latics genuinely thinking we’d win. I’ve made predictions pre match that I fancy us, but that’s mainly optimism and blind faith as opposed to a genuine belief we will win. And when we do win, it makes it all the more enjoyable irrespective of whether we played well or not.

And as for City and these 115 charges, it’s nothing like the Everton case as they admitted their breach, City are denying it.

Im also absolutely convinced they’ll get away Scot free too. Abu Dhabi has too much involvement in UK business. Their fingers are in so many pies and if they threatened to remove all promise investment in the country and Manchester specifically, the government would shit a brick.

    (They’re definitely guilty BTW).

You can't blame the supporters for that home form, we probably have the loudest and most passionate fans in this League home and away and if I were a player I'd be all over that. Fans will get frustrated because we have players who just aren't brave enough, each week there's half a dozen who don't leave it all out there and that's unforgivable from a fans perspective, it's cup final week every home game but some of our players still think they can cruise through the game and that's why many of them are limited, it's the mentality of the group at the minute that's stopping us from becoming the team we all want.

    Totally agree.

We also still don’t have the players.

    Lundstram is too safe

    Sheron is extremely limited

    Ward is crap

Hammond doesn’t look good enough for me but granted it’s early days.

    Gardner is finished

We only have Conlon and he can’t do it all.

Weve made plenty of signings starting with the Unsworth reign but all of Unsys are largely duds with the jury out on Lundstram and at least Mellon has identified we need footballers in the middle with Conlon. We’re still a few short.

We will never control games when we have to select two from Sheron, Ward and Lundstram.

We don’t need to fit in Reid or Green but I get your points otherwise. I’d be surprised if both featured much at all for the rest of the season.

I got slaughtered on here for saying Green is shit. Granted he’d just scored a worldie away to Kidderminster, but my point stood.

Hes fast and that’s it. Doesn’t have a footballers brain. May as well stick a pet greyhound on the wing.
