There shouldn't be any kind of exodus, from what I see of the fixtures whenever we're at home, City are away or not playing that day and vice versa.
-
3 c's, 2b's and an a.
Still I consider myself to be a normal normal fan with a hint of never giving up.
-
I'll be home over Christmas as per normal, I'll pop in to the ship and try to pick up something for an American friend of mine who I've roped in to supporting Latics (I support Chicago Bears in return) and to be honest I'm running out of stuff to buy, his last present was the coffee mug and club oven gloves for his missus!!
-
Event though I don't go to that many games to make a difference, I always plan trips back around home games. I'd go to Latics regardless of the location.

Even over the past crap decade we've filled BP to its (former) near-14,000 capacity several times. Is even that modest ambition to be a thing of the past?)
We've played 300+ league games at BP since being relegated from the Premiership. How many of these games have we actually filled, or near filled capacity?
-
I'm ok to admit I'm one of the 32. I grew up in Middleton and cannot stand Rochdale (council), been to Spotland once, not for a game...cannot remember why the hell I was there?
If we could fill BP 80-90% week in week out, then I'd vote against the idea, but we don't and except for a few years in the late 80's, early 90's we never have and likely never will. City, United and apathy will allways be our biggest crowd killers. I can't go for good reason. I don't understand some of the persistent stay away fans? If I still lived in the area, I'd be going week in week out regardless of what league we are in or how badly we play.
I personally see one day that League 1 & League 2 will be cut off from the top two tiers, with no chance of promotion. This will literally kill off a lot of lower league clubs, if the Milan clubs can do it, then why can't we? I also think this is something that a ot of lower league clubs should seriously consider. I laready know that at one Premier league chairman has suggested the idea of a two tier premiership, with no relegation from the 2nd tier.
It just comes down to this to me, maybe I'm over simplifying the idea? - Two clubs futures secured, one new ground, both sets of fans benefit.
-
I'd like to see him re-sign, but we shouldn't get in to a bidding war for him. He should have accepted the offer we made back in January.
Notts Co - Decent wage, chance of League 1 football if promoted?
Latics - Same/similar wage as he was originally on(I don't know what we've offered?), chance of Championship football if promoted?
Either way, I see this as his last contract at this level.

Barcelona does have standing areas behind the goal.
If the stadium at Bradford had been all seater, then a lot more than 56 people would have died. I don't believe that in an disaster you can safely evacuate an all seater stadium quickly enough and I hope we never have to find out. The arguments against standing always seem to refer to the old days, when clearly safe standing areas are nothing of the sort.
I remember way back when we were bidding for the 2006 WC, Bobby Charlton at the time cited that all stadia had to be all seater otherwise we would not be successful. Ironically we lost out to Germany, which has standing areas??
Safe standing could work, but it would have to be heavily regulated. I'd make them season ticket only, that way you cut out/reduce the chance that it can be overcrowded. Even if they did relax the laws, I highly doubt we would see it back at BP as areas of the Chaddy/RRE would have to be redeveloped to accomodate them.

Setanta hold crunch SPL talks.
Setanta also has a much larger outstanding payment due to the Premier League in England - about £40m.The Scottish FA paid up the missing £3M payment, I somehow cannot see the English FA doing the same.
-
I'm surprised that Charlton haven't gone in to administration yet.
-
If I can get a cheap enough flight, I'll probably go.
-
Personally I'd go for Dowie or Royle for the remaining 9 games(If they'd come) and let the club decide over the summer who to appoint, rather than rushing a possible wrong un in. Even though Gannon is a favourite amongst people here, Stockport are still within a shout of a play off spot and he might just want to see this season through to the end.
I've been a happy clapper and behind Shez all season, but I feel that with 9 games to go we will not even finish 7th at our current rate.

I'm sure that the TTA would have accepted a sensible increase on the fee they have to pay, but a 600% increase is anything but that, the PRS are taking the preverbial p*#s out of us.

What do people want to read in the annoucement?
Not read the posts about the incident in question - only picked up stuff from the BBC site - but it sounds as though people want players/staff to get sacked?
Personally I hope no one is fired and the end result of the investigation is a simple "We regret the incidents from the other night, blah, blah, blah. Those involved have been disciplined and dealt with internally by the club, blah blah, blah. We consider the matter closed and now look forward to a big game away this weekend."
But when the club themselves say they arent ruling out sackings, it kind of makes you worry.

On the question of bringing back Royle, should the TTA decide on a change in management. The nostalgia in me says absolutely, if he is willing. The pro's being
1. It's only 10 games...13 maximum.
2. I reckon he'd command more respect from the senior players who know his pedigree.
3. Younger lads who've come through the ranks and have supported the club will respect him(Taylor will likely faint).
4. He has no transfer or loan funds, what he has is what he has.
5. The TTA have plenty of time to decide on a new manager for next season.
6. It will easily add 2K on to the gate. Another bonus for the TTA.
Cons
1. If it doesn't add 2K to the gate, then if Joe Royle coming back to the club cannt entice fans, then nothing will.
2. We still don't go up, but the way I see it, people will still blame Shez.
3. We don't go up, meaning we have to sell our best squad player, thus putting us back another 5 years in this division.
4. The players play as badly as they did against Colchester and fans amongst us realise that Shez is not as bad as some people first thought and it really is the players not pulling their weight.

I wish to god the club would hurry up and draw a line under all this, if the next board of directors meeting is Thursday, then bring it forward to tomorrow. Rumours & what if's are bugging us all...well for me at least. Waiting till Thursday only gives the team 24 hours to prepare for a big game at plastic FC and if we are going to be losing personel before this game, then it needs doing now. If no one is going, then please put us out of our inquisitive misery.

The 3-2 win at Wolves in the 90-91 season sticks out in my mind. It was my first ever Oldham league game away. Ian Marshall hitting a superb hattrick.
-
Whatever the outcome of the internal investigation, I think one positive step forward would be a club wide ban on any drinking between now and the end of the season. We now have 10 cup finals in which to secure either 2nd place(long shot) or at least a play off place.
-
The only thing I see reading between the lines from the OS, was the "further information coming to light", which says to me that the whole truth wasn't told to the club in the first place.
Sacking a player for fighting? it rarely happens, disciplining for sure, sacking no.
The statement does give the impression that someone could go?
-
I've always felt that Ritchie has been hard done by this club at times, he was wrongly overlooked when Sharp got the job and then unfairly sacked when he'd been doing a decent job for us, the then tosspot chairman we had had his own plans for the club that didn't include Ritchie and was looking for the first opportunity to get rid.
I'd leave Philliskirk where he is now, he's doing a fantastic job with the clubs youth set up and it should stay that way. Besides, I don't think he's ever shown a desire to be part of the 1st team set up...has he?
-
Bearing in mind that we'd likely lose Hughes, Taylor and possibly Eardley to other clubs in the summer, so the question should be, will we be good enough to go up?
I think the club would employ from within again...my vote would be for Crossley.
There again, I think we should stick with Shez.
-
The Sun reports that Windass was involved in the Spat with Greegan & Taylor. I didn't think he was there?
-
Two days to come up with this? It might have been more convincing if this had been dealt with yesterday.
-
But I would also like to see him reprimanded in someway.
Not paying him another penny and letting him sit on his backside for the rest of the season is punishment enough in my books.
Should the club move to Failsworth?

If the Prem was still like it was in it's infancy, then I wouldn't be adverse to going to an odd game. I refuse to watch it as it is now.
I think thats more to pander to the people fretting about having a Manc postcode. If we want to be really pedantic about this, Oldham is part of Greater Manchester, not Lancashire.
