  1. I say live and let live, if Windass helps us get promoted, then who cares if he's said he wants to go back to the team he has supported his entire life. He's wiith us to the end of this season, so we should be backing him just like the rest of the lads. (braces myself for instant flaming).

I do however have one issue with his latest blog, "Help us in to the play offs", we are only 4 points from 2nd place...since when had we given up on the automatic spot?

  2. I've went to a Barcalona v Malaga match a number of years back, at the time if I had been staying a week longer, then I would have been abe to see Leeds get thumped in the chumps league. I occaisonally go to Munich 1860 games, football is pretty dire, but it's a decent crowd. Also went to see Bayern play Celtic in the chumps league, didnt have to pay for that as a mate of mine had won tickets. Also went to see Ivory Coast v Serbia in the last World Cup.

  3. As far as I can see, there is no money to spend and there never will be any money to spend(Especially now). This is the limitation that Shez has had to work with this past three years. No decent manager in his right mind would touch this job with a 10ft bargepole and those that would would want 2-3 years to mould their own team.

Shez deserves time in this job, what exactly did Royle achieve after 3 years?

We're still top 6, we are no way near out of it yet.

  4. Good idea. I'm home in a couple of weeks, I had intended to arrive a week earlier but checked the fixture schedule and saw that we have Swindon and Brostol Rovers at home in the same week so scheduled my flight for those games instead. I reckon we should have a decent turn out for the Stockport game anyway, plus get to see two Latics games instead of one.

Anways, what I wanted to say was that a similar promotion was done here with the local hockey team EHC Munich and in one of their recent home games they broke their home attendance record and had 6012 people show up. The advertising was pushed in partnership by the club and local press also. They're average tends to be around the 2K mark, so it was a success.

  5. My understanding was that it was his agent who ultimately screwed us, there had been talks with clubs within England, but then the Scottish clubs joined in at the eleventh hour, by which time it was too late to do anything about it.

We did ourselves screw Bury over by trying to get Porter on the cheap, yes it went to tribunal and I'm sure that it didnt meet Bury's value.

  6. I once left a game at half time, we were playing Tranmere(IIRC) when Sharp was manager. It was a Sunday and live on ITV also, but went to the game cos I had a season ticket at the time. It was your typical freezing crappy day at ISZ and the football was dire beyond belief, so I gave up. I got home, changed, made myself a Bovril and just as I sat to watch the rest of the second half, Tranmere scored and we in fact lost the game 1-0 that day. So I felt the leaving the game was somewhat justified.

    Sharp...useless tosser!

  7. A few hundered fans leaving early is hardly going to demoralise the players. We should be happy that we had an increase in the number of people at the game, if we're going to start singling out people who leave early for abuse*, they may just not bother coming back.

*Reminds me of when I first started following Latics during the 89/90 season and leaving the ground to chants of "Part-time supporters!"

  8. I say different, checking through a list of numbers would lead to an unecessary delay at the turnstiles. How happy would a ST holder be to wait in the freezing cold outside BP whilst all the serial numbers are checked, meanwhile watching all the pay on the day fans wander in without a problem.

Do we have any idea on how many tickets are lost/stolen each season?

  9. one word of note, one of the lads had his coat nicked last year with his wallet, phone and season ticket in it. he rang the club to ask for a replacement and was told that they couldnt do it (spoke to a guy called neil joy) bearing in mind this lad had a season ticket for 20 years and all the club could do was stick 2 fingers up at him, needless to say he hasnt been back since and instead sits in the pub watching soccer saturday

Did he also contact his mobile phone provider and ask them for a replacement, cos I'd reckon that would be a no too.

He shouldnt blame the club, he should be blaming the gypsy thieving swine that nicked his stuff.
