  1. As has been mentioned on here before Hartlepool did season tickets for £100 this season.

Matchday admission for seating areeas has been increased to £25.

£20 for away fans last season £25 this season.

Think you know how many games I go to in a season. I havent missed a matchday since April 2010.

£25 for a game at Hartlepool is just too much to pay and after a lot of deliberation I have decided not to go to Hartlepool.

Yes money is tight and has been for a while but we have always found a way to afford it but £25 is (in my view) just too much to pay to watch League 1 football.

  2. Three games again for the various teams around Boundary Park next week.

Tuesday sees the first team make their debut at Broadhall Way when they take on Stevenage. KO 19.45.

Saturday morning the youth team try to get over the 6-0 schallacking by Walsall yesterday when they travel to play Macclesfield Town 11.00 KO.

The game is scheduled for Witton Albions stadium at Wincham Park, Chapel Street, Northwich, CW9 6DA (Northwich Victoria's now former stadium is on the same industrial estate so make sure you are at the correct ground)

Directions: Leave the M6 at Junction 19 and take the A556 Chester Road towards Northwich. After 3 miles get into the right hand lane and filter off to the right at the 'triangle' road junction.

At the traffic lights go over to the left which is Manchester Road (still the A556). After 1 mile turn right into the A559 Hall Lane. After 0.5 mile turn left into Wincham Lane (the Black Greyhound Pub is on the opposite side of the road). After 0.5 mile Wincham Lane becomes Chapel Street, you will go over a hump backed bridge over the canal and the turning into the stadium is on the left.

And finally on Saturday afternoon the first team are away at Rochdale (15.00 KO).

    *******************************************************************************************************************

This afternoons Ladies game at Chapel Road 3G against Heyside Angels now kicks off at 13.00.

Next Sunday the Ladies are again at home. This time to Failsworth Athletic KO 14.00.

The next three games for the Ladies sees them with a real chance of finally getting a win. Todays opponents lost last week 19-0 and only have a slightly better goal difference to Latics Ladies (-94 as opposed to -106). One of Heyside's three wins was a 6-5 defeat over Latics. The next two games after that are home and away against Failsworth Athletic who have also lost all their 10 games with a -82 goal difference.

Hey the football isnt great but they put every effort in.

  3. If there are only 7 teams perhaps next season they could play each other home and away twice, and as you say not behind closed doors. I'd like them to play non league teams too - maybe the Manchester Senior and Junior cups could merge ?

IMO reserve matches are essential for bringing on young prospects, they also help to sharpen up first teamers who are returning from injury.

Agree its a retrograde step not to run a reeserve side - though with the way finances are at a lot of clubs it might see the end of reserve teams. Just the hire of a pitch and cost of officials can be over £1000.

The Manchester FA did bring non-league sides into the competition in the mid 70's and the competition died for about 10 years.

Also can you see United and City wanting to put teams out against non-league sides?

  4. What a farcical league that is - as is the fragmented Manchester Senior Cup, Latics need to sort somethinbg out so there are regular fixtures next season.

Taking part in the Central League Cup would have given more fixtures.

So many teams in this area now dont field reserve sides. 7 teams left in the division. I personally like the MSC but fixtures should be made at the start of each season and kept to where possible - and NO behind closed doors game from United or City. Its happening more and more.

  5. Three home games in the next week for the Latics teams.

Tuesday sees game 2 of the Golden Ticket when Scunthorpe United visit BP. KO 19.45.

That is followed up on Saturday with the third game of the promotion when Yeovil Town are the visitors. KO 15.00.

Saturday morning sees Tony Philiskirks youth team take on third placed Walsall. Undefeated all season in the league ten wins, four draws and only nine goals conceded. Third placed Walsall have games in hand on the leaders Burnley and PNE. So a tough ask for a young side ravaged by injuries. One thing a TP side will give is 100% effort. KO 11.00 though with Walsall having a first team home game at 15.00 expect a KO as early as 10.45.

The reserves have no game until 21 March.

The venue for this afternoons Ladies game at Manchester Rovers has changed from Heaton Mersey sports club to Hough End Field on Princess Parkway.

Next Sunday the Ladies are at home to Heyside Angels Youth at Chapel Road. KO 14.00.

  6. Two first team games and a youth game next week.

Tuesday we have the first of ten games in 32 days for the first team when Colchester United come visiting. KO is 19.45.

Saturday afternoon the first team visit high flying Sheffield United KO 15.00.

Saturday morning the youth team are at Wigan Athletic. KO 11.00. Venue is Christopher Park, off Woodrush Road, Standish Lower Ground, Wigan WN6 8LB - M6 J27 and turn left at end of slip road. Turn right at T junction (signposted Shevington). Approx. 1 mile turn into Old Lane (signposted B5375 Standish Lower-Ground). Follow for approx,. 1/12 mile and turn left into Woodrush Road, ground approx. 100 yds on the left.

And finally is you like to see plenty of goals the Ladies team are away at Manchester Rovers (SK4 3AW). in 11 games the Ladies have a -102 goal difference but by god they put their heart into it.

  7. Two first team and a youth game on the schedule for the next week.

Tuesday at 19.45 the first team have a home game against Walsall.

Saturday morning at 11am Tony Philiskirks youth team have a home game against bottom of the table Morecambe. Morecambe have only two wins in 14 games. One of those was back on 20 August when the beat Latics 2-1. A bit of revenge called for methinks :goggle:

Saturday afternoon the first team are at MK Dons 15.00

The Ladies team are at home today at 13.00 against Manchester Rovers and next week against Curzon Ashton (14.00)

  8. From back in the day can anyone tell me the strongest reserve side we ever put out at Bower Fold?

  9. Hey all,

Just wondering how i go about contacting the club to see if they are willing to donate maybe a signed football or shirt (or similar) towards a charity event my friend (a vet nurse) is hosting at her work.

The charity event is to help raise money to train guide dogs for the visually impaired, the local vet is having a garden party with all the usual trimmings (cakes, tombola, challenges) and something from the club would make a fantastic prize. I have all the official letters and proof of the event to send whomever i might need to get in touch with.

Any help/feedback from someone who has contacted the club properly before would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

    Matthew :)

    From the clubs contacts page:

    CHARITY DONATIONS

Commercial assistant Lois Best deals with all charity requests on a strict case-by-case basis. Any applications can be submitted in writing to the club marked for her attention, or made to lois.best@oldhamathletic.co.uk.

Please note that the club cannot grant charity requests in every instance.

Though I wouldnt expect a quick reply from Lois :ranting:

  10. On Tuesday the first team make a quick return to Chesterfield in the JPT northern final. 19.45 KO.

Wednesday afternoon 14.00 KO Dux's reserves are at the Moss Rose to tackle Macclesfield Town.

Next Saturday at Noon the youth team have a re-arranged Youth Alliance League game at Carlisle United. The venue is Creighton Rugby Club. Set the Sat Nav for CA1 3SR.

At 15.00 the first team are at home to Exeter City.

Had originally thought I wouldnt be going to Carlisle but Mrs D put her foot down. Leave Carlisle at 13.30 and we should be at BP for 15.30 (dependant on traffic :-))

Todays Ladies game at Urmston Meadowside has again fallen victim to the weather so they will try again next Sunday in the Open Age League Cup at AFC Oldham. Venue is Tate Street OL8 2DD. 14.00 KO.

  11. IIRC when we played Blackpool in the playoffs there were already ticketing arrangements made with Ticketmaster published in the programme ready for the in the event of us getting to Wembley.

Yes - we where going to use ticketmaster as there would not be enough time.

    Blackpool handled the sale themselves.

  12. I agree on that also i'll vote for him.

Im honoured if you guys think I deserve this.

  13. Let me start this thread by saying:

I've been a fan for over 30 years. And a season ticket holder for most of them. I (when younger) attended lots of away games, but cost and time (mainly time) affect my ability to go to most away games but I usually go to the MK Dongs away game as I work here.

OK, so now you know I'm a decent fan. I even sponsored Chaddy's kit - I love my club - shimples.

So get to the point I hear you cry....

So there we are, my 3 mates, my wife and our son (who, unfortunately is a Liverpool fan), my mate's son (who's 5) and one "extra". 3 of us and a young lad who go to all the home games and 3 who don't go to many games. I'm rambling - anyway you get the picture.

So here's the scene. We're all lined up watching the game. Two rows in front, there's 8 people who just WON'T sit down. We're being told by stewards to sit down constantly, yet these fans just won't. So they're asked - as nicely as possible at first - to sit - after all, anyone behind had to stand to see the game if they wouldn't sit - they don't AND they get abusive. Some of the vitriol directed at the opponents fans was shocking too! (By the way, I wouldnt have expected everyone to stay sat down for the whole game but these guys stood for 80% of it). The problem is there are kids and women about. They've obviously had alot to drink and their attitude is almost that of wanting the fracas.

Their reaction was "Where were you at Chestrefield, Bournemouth, Charlton etc etc etc yawn). Does attending an away game give someone God given right to abuse their OWN fans - the sheer number of people intimidated by them was massive. They were constantly having a go to the point my wife just wanted to leave and gave up on watching the game completely. I doubt she'll bother attending again, and she was really looking forward to it.

The stewards eventually took a couple of them away for a "stern" word, but they soon, inexplicably, were allowed back, to carry on their selfish exploits.

So is this how it should be ? Do these "fans" enjoy feeling "special" so much that the don't actually WANT any more fans to join our club ? YES, many of the people who attended don't go to all or many of the games, but they were there then - they'd PAID to support OUR club - they had every right to be there and to be able to see the game, regardless of the number of games previously attended. If they have to suffer the indignities I and my friends did, why would they want to come back?

I enjoyed the game, I'm proud of our performance and MY club, but I was ashamed of these idiots - did anyone else have similar problems ?

    RANT OVER :(

    One final aside....

A couple of these fans "disappeared" just before half time - obviously to get the beer in - They all then disappeared at H/T - Then for 10 blissful 2nd half minutes there was no sign of them. These fans who love their club so much had to finish their pints before coming back to watch them - Hmmmmm

    Spot on sir.

  14. With the holidays over all three Latics teams get back in the groove this week.

On Tuesday evening at 19.00 Dux's reserves travel to the Crown Grown to take on Accrington Stanley in the Quarter Finals of the Lancashire Senior Cup. The winners are at home to Wigan Athletic in the semi-finals.

Saturday morning the U-18's play their first game since the FAYC defeat at Norwich City on 13 December.

Their opponents are Morecambe at Chapel Road. KO is 11-ish.

In the afternoon the first team make the short jaunt over to Huddersfield Town 15.00 KO

Next Sunday the Ladies team play only their 3rd game since the end of October. They are due to play at Urmston Meadowside at 13.00. The venue is Woodsend Road, Urmston M41 8QA.
