This is where the Trust hopefully comes in and evidences whatever he states confirming that it’s genuine.  Surely in the age of clarity for fans, the EFLs FFP should be visible for us to understand how he passed the test and on what measures i.e. sufficient funds to clear or manage debt but also demonstrate funds for running the club securely for X period (ideally beyond two seasons)

    Can't argue with that

At least Corney came forward with an interview or two when the shit was hitting the fan.

And lied through his teeth whilst at it.... North Stand 24/7 income, Sports Direct = challenging at top of League 1.  Whilst I wouldn't mind hearing from AL I don' just want to hear a load of bollocks and if (I don't have a clue) he's just concentrating on his job then fair enough

This is total bollocks. These lads are on £2k a week on at best 23 month contracts. They are not on the sort of money where they can afford to have wages late month after month.

Salt of the earth proper bloody good blokes like your Brian Wilson's etc won't their mortgages paying on time. I agree we have some cunts but please don't think people like Gardner Clarke and Hunt won't be fucked off with the wages shambles.

Yet Gerrard can afford to be unemployed for 6 months a season waiting for Real Madrid to come in for him...

Wasn't a fan of Luke publicly embarrassing Gary Davies who I'm now told has disassociated himself with the football club. Cancelled his trip to Portugal to follow the youth team and will reportedly never support us again.

    Shame if true.

To be fair, he embarrassed himself publicly blaming the club for adverts that get generated based on what you're looking at on the internet...

He was that dire that he totally ran rings round them single handedly most of the time.

If someone can get his head in the right place and loyal to the cause, we're going straight back up this season

You can lead a horse to water.... How many clubs have tried to "get his head in the right place" now?  The guy is a weapons grade prick

For anybody who never got around to reading it, as I know some people don't visit the non Latics forums.

Here's the thread that Dave made when he was diagnosed.

It's a sad read, but also demonstrates Dave's positivity and strength that many of the tributes on here mention.

Just read the thread and blog and although as someone has already said it would probably make him cringe, what an absolute inspiration! The bravery and positivity in the face of that bastard of a disease is nothing short of incredible and reading those posts brought a lump to my throat

I have no problems putting my hand up and say i would absolutely go to pieces and sadly probably spend my remaining time wallowing in self pity

so glad he got to do some amazing things and hes already inspired me  wanted to do an American road trip for 20 years but life alway s gets in the way.  Well life is too bloody short so planning it as i type.

rip and lets all remember, when Forest Green Rovers twat us 5-0 and Kusunga is being his usual little sun beam - theres bigger things out there

Not EVERYONE wanted Corney out. I’d be the first to admit that I know very little about the stadium wrangling, Brassbank et al, and I can understand people being totally brassed off - pardon the pun - with Corney.

Sometimes though you have to be careful what you wish for. Corney for all his faults did manage to keep us in the League 1 for 20 odd seasons, then as soon as the club changes hands we go down.

What with AL obviously bringing in his own players whether the manager wants them or not, calling meetings and reportedly humiliating players at said meetings, going into the dressing room at half time and no doubt doing the same.

All these things add to the unrest at the club and do the manager(s) no favours whatsoever.

I hope it isn’t the case, but we might have jumped out of the frying pan into the fire. Time will tell.

I know that a lot of people on here will say that they are just happy that Corney has gone. I’ll only be happy if AL improves the clubs league position, but he MUST learn to stay away from meddling with the first team and he needs to let the manager(s) do their job.

As i have said, i was one of staunchest defenders  (erroneously) but anyone who hadnt reached the point of wanting him out needs a fucking lobotomy

The data rated us as better than that so you'd think there were contributory factors that determined our finishing position.

It is my belief that the biggest contributory factor was the foreign players and their remuneration causing resentment and divisions in the dressing room.

"The data rated us as better than that"??? Jesus best email the football league and tell them they've made a mistake and put us back up. Promotion without kicking a ball you'll be a hero!!

We were relegated because we were complete dog shit since Christmas, no one said a thing about the foreign lads when Wellens was doing so well at the start

    You understand the scepticism, though?

AL is continuing with a recruitment strategy that contributed to our first relegation in 21 years, in spite of claiming to have learnt from his mistakes (not a direct quote - there have been very few direct quotes!).

The strategy has also yet to produce any player that has really convinced us it's the way forward and begs the question why we are continuing to go down this route when there's very little evidence to suggest it's going to benefit the club.

Hopefully it'll all work out for the club, though - but to label anyone who's a little concerned as negative is silly..

Placide and Nepo out of all his signings made the most appearances... I think you can blame the rest and an incompetent manager for our relegation more

I will beat him when I feel he is taking the piss at of the club I support in the same way I did when I thought Corney was, unless your happy to do an Orient.

Where have I said I’m happy to do an orient?? I have supported this club since I was 6 years old in 1990 and have been as pissed off as anyone recently.

the trust have said we were close to the abyss and AL has put in nearly 4 million to avoid that. For that alone I think he deserves time and support to go the other way. People supporting the previous owner after wanting him out for years I don’t get

You would also think that a successful businessman would smell rat after rat in his purchase of the club.

Thinking more about the scenario, maybe being from another part of the world AL wouldn't know the value of the club ,ground ,land, etc etc bu.t surely to god one of his advisors would have an idea on the valuation.

For Simon Brooke to have to put him straight is farcical.

    Absolutely agree.

I have to say though, Corney is nothing if not a very massive Del Boy. He has the gift of the gab and that has shown from his “come and see me videos” and meetings during his tenure.

i defended him to the hilt but the evidence recently (and things I was made aware of before) show him to be a complete charlatan who literally chatted his way from one disaster to the next.

AL has been incredibly naive in his purchase of the club I agree but he has pumped in nearly 4 million pounds to try to correct the errors of Corney.

Personally, I’d have said “fuck this” and walked away
