I’m in the Paddock towards the Chaddy End and it won’t let me renew. When you look at the seating map when selecting ‘buying new’ the whole block is greyed out.

Hopefully the club will be in contact soon as they haven’t yet.

That's strange, others in that area have been contacted.

That section will host away supporters against smaller clubs next season.

Are you trying to create an ex-County XI?! It's my time to shine!

Another one that has divided the County fanbase, started brightly then rapidly faded, and could be hit or miss for you.

When he first joined he was electric for half a season (20/21) averaging better than 1 in 2. He's got pace and knack for popping up in the right spot in the box. BUT that was very much reliant on a big man (Richie Bennett) doing his dirty work. He occupied the CBs letting Reid play off the shoulder or feed off flick ons. It was a very good partnership. However, our DoF in his infinite wisdom sacked club legend Gannon when we were 4th and his replacement (Rusk) in his infinite wisdom broke up the partnership (and later shipped Bennett out on loan to our PO rival, Hartlepool, where he scored 5 in 4 games to cement their PO spot before returning to us and missing a sitter in our PO semi final that we lost to them - but that's a different story!).

Rusk tried Reid as the middle of a front 3 or off the left and it just didn't work. He doesn't press and he can't hold up the ball. Despite his size (he's not 6ft 4 btw! County fans still laugh about that being on WIki!) he's not that good in the air and lightweight. The goals dried up - though he still just about finished our top scorer in the league and he was out of favour by the time Rusk was sacked. Challinor gave him a couple of gos but he plays a high press, high tempo style so it never going to work. He looked terrible and disinterested too.

We then tried to get rid but couldn't as he's another that was on big wages for us after a renewed contract mid-purple patch. Rumours (hinted at by the manager too) are that he turned down local loan moves (Alty etc.) however preferring to enjoy a cushy life and paypacket which didn't go down with County fans. We finally got him off the books with a loan move to Solihull this season and then you'll know about as much as me. Started very brightly then has faded.

Overall, you could do a lot worse at that level. He's got some good attributes - pace and good movement. But I'm not sure he's the man you want in a relegation dogfight unless you've got a bigman he can play off. He's not stuck around at any club for long... You never know - you could catch one of his purple patches though (he does seem to start well at new clubs)!

Richie Bennett started in our youth and is a Latics fan, get him in! 😉

Don't care if it's home or away but I do hope it's local.
Last thing we need is another trip to the arse end of nowhere like Havent or Hornchuch or somewhere.

Click in to the tweet and you can see which are classed as Northern teams l, which we can draw.  Like, erm, King's Lynn and St Ives...

  4. Aye, it's a Bolton player of 8 and a half year, talking to a Bolton journalist about the circumstances of him leaving Bolton. He's an uncomplicated lad is Wheats, if he didn't want to sign for us, he wouldn't have.

Edit: At the risk of becoming a full on fanboy, I can't help but note we continually conceded early in pre-season, and then again tonight. Saturday we were alright, and one David Wheater was playing. Please don't get injured/suspended/other.

  5. Perfect use of this comp. 19-year-old homegrown captain. Game time for players who won't be getting much. 3 points in a potential money earning tournament. One more win from the remaining two games should see us through.

Iacovitti getting a game is probably bad news for him, funnily. I expect, barring any superb performances this evening, the plan was for nearly everyone who played tonight to miss out on Saturday,. Except Ash Smith-Brown, who LB will have wanted to see in action, and probs Sylla. I think Mills will revert to right back as we hopefully go more attacking against Crewe.

Duffus scored the only goal of the game after 2 minutes for Yeovil tonight

This after spending most of pre-season training with the youth team. Paging Christopher O'Grady...

And of course Matt Smith should have started both Everton games, he was The Man at the time, must have felt superhuman when he took to the field after that Liverpool game. Dense not to go with him.

I've never put a bet on a game of football, and have not seen us pre-season, but...

I'm considering putting a few on for Saturday:

£10 on Forest Green to win
£10 double FGR & Exeter (vs Macc)
£10 treble FGR & Exeter & Wycombe (vs Bolton)

Is that any good, or would you change any of the games?

    At least this came in.

    How was it:
    a) compared to expectations?
    b) compared to FGR away last season?

I think the reduced funding for the team might have helped. Especially when the money raised by the team was put towards the stand instead.

I think we would do better with 4 stands open though.

The first bold line is when the old Broadway stand was demolished. The second, dotted bold line is the season in which the new stand was opened part-way through. While it's negligible, the data seems to point to us doing slightly better at home when 4 stands are in operation.

    Hi everyone! I run a wee blog about special football shirts and covered an old Latics away top worn by Neal Eardley this week. Thought it might be interesting to the history buffs among you, so figured I'd share it;

As I am just a casual observer of the club, rather than a fan, I'm quite keen to hear whether I made any mistakes regarding Oldham while writing! I'm also very interested in hearing your thoughts about the club's kits in general, how the current ones are, which tops were the best and the worst, etc.

To think THAT won the fan kit vote!

Imagine if we'd had this gorgeous Barca-style one instead?
