Oh dear the apologist has turned up, as a 'club' they've performed piss poor in this regard since Frank walked in the door two years ago, you want to give them another summer without anybody asking a question or receiving any answers?. Something is fundamentally wrong with the recruitment of players yet we appear to be just ploughing down the same route again and again, what's changing this summer then?.
We've got the guy who knows what good looks like.

So you are the manager, what approach do you take. You have a contracted player who you know you will not pick in your match day squad.
Things may have changed but my understanding was that you are, or were, only obliged to provide adequate training facilities.

Actually I used to complain it was bullying. The old regime used to try to make life hell so people would leave or behave in a way which could be used to sack them.
You don't exile someone and then leave them training in the place you have removed them from...

Which makes Mellon post Oxford a strange one, surely when he took the job he knew the state of the squad, it's okay him exiling half of them but they are still entitled to draw their wages.
Still training with the first team is the bewildering bit for me.

I'll be in the minority here and the sidelining is out of order but I don't think the arguments for keeping them are all that strong, you enter a competition to compete in it, not to be financially rewarded by virtue of the luck of the draw.
Be interesting to see what the reaction would be if they said you can have them back for Round 1 & 2...

This is exactly why he should be addressing the fan base as a whole via official channels. We should and are entitled to some kind of update next week once the season is finished especially as they are asking people to part with their hard earned. If we don't get anything in terms of accepting mistakes or some kind of plan and whether the budget will remain the same or has to be cut (which I think most people expect) then I can see renewals being significantly down.
I agree. I think they'll probably put something out.

And yet we never hear from him.
I spend a lot of money on this club. Bought tat from the club shop - extortionate pricing for kids tops - and yet I hear zip from him.
Well we do but you have to pay for the privilege, which apparently is absolutely fine and normal.

I'm not sure that he has proved anything this season...
Big "You wouldn't know them, they go to a different school" vibes.

The biggest problem isn't the use of stats or perceived attitudes of players, it is repeatedly employing managers who are scared stiff of letting a football match break out.
-
Things aren't completely broken, we wouldn't have been in and around the top seven if they were.
Unfortunately they've just picked the wrong guy with the wrong personality and mindset to manage the football team. That is easily fixed if you are prepared to admit you made the mistake in the first place.
Bite the bullet, move him on and get someone in who is interested in improving and developing players and an attractive attacking style of play and it will come good in time.

Could it be that the manager has also been recruited on stats basis?

Telling players they are shit had a negative effect, who could have imagined that.
Allowing Reid to continue training with the first team after exiling him needs further explanation because it seems utterly bizarre on the surface.
We really do need someone who can breathe some positivity and tactical innovation into the place, get rid of the energy vacuum and things will start moving in the right direction.
-
We thank Mick for securing a second consecutive top half finish and look forward to him continuing the fantastic work he has done so far next season and beyond.
-
Has he gone yet?

Entitlement is nothing without booing and abuse.

Rule 101 - fans are never responsible for any matters that may be considered remotely negative.

Some suggested that the managers dour personality may not necessarily be the right fit for this club but were told such things didn't matter.

Some improve some don't. I closely watched his performance and is determination wasn't in question, with the right manager he could well eventually finish up at a club higher than us.
He's already ahead of Sachdev IMO.
How much of his loan spell had you seen prior to last night BP?

You okay Monty ?
Just off the top of my head, Nuttall, Kurt, Reid, Shelton and Ward are 5 players under contract which Mellon will certainly not play or give a chance to next season.
Why is it such ridiculous statement to say shift them on ? Never mentioned pay offs. Sell them or loan them out for all I care, don’t care how it gets done.
I think we can all agree we need rid of players. Or I am misunderstanding your post.
The point is about how easy some people seem to think it is to move players on, there's a bit more to it than just 'binning them off'.

I'll just stick to POTD thanks.

Every time I listen to one of his interviews, I become more convinced that he's going to resign after the Wealdstone game...
God willing

The idea that he gets to dictate anything given the absolute horror show he has presided over the past three months

Players have no problem forcing moves when it suits them, they can’t whinge if manager doesn’t fancy them and it’s move on or just train. It’s the nature of football, and works both ways. Most managers never far away from the sack these days, makes sense to stick around and see if the next one likes you rather than going somewhere you don't really want to.
Let the inquest begin.

The Aldershot result on Wednesday virtually ended any hope, you'd look a bit of a wally charging about celebrating in a stadium that was like one sixth full.
