So 30+ goals over a 46-game season? Not sure how that "reasonable expectation" tallies with your earlier contention that a 34yo scoring 30 goals is never going to happen, Rob...
See above

You were asked what a reasonable expectation would have been!
I know. What I think and what the people who sanctioned the deal think probably differs.

In this team?You are deluded!!
You said yourself I was talking bollocks expecting him to score 30+ in this division…make your mind up!!
That would have been the expectation, however unrealistic I may believe it to be.

Okay, so what would a reasonable expectation have been?
2 in 3.

He's got 17 in 37 so far, but apparently hasn't performed and isn't living up to expectations. If it's so unthinkable for a 34yo to score 30 goals, what are these expectations that he apparently isn't living up to?
I can't imagine whoever signed him did so thinking 17 goals would be an acceptable haul.

This summer is going to have to be the best in living memory given how many are pinning their hopes on it...

Why not?….he was on course for 20 odd until his injury in an absolute joke of a team!!
Can you name the last one to do it at this kind of level?

His last 4 years were spent in Division One!!
A 34yo isn't scoring 30 goals.

His 5k a week has probably kept us away from a relegation battle but if he stays we’d better give him better service next season. With decent wide players and a proper midfield I have no doubt he would score 30+ but £500k is a lot of dosh just to stick around in this division!!
He's had one thirty goal season in his career and it was five years ago...

Norwood fanboys can scream and shout all they want, the guy hasn't performed, hasn't lived up to expectations and is probably exhausting to be around.

He isn't a midfielder, end of discussion.

He needs the summer to put his own stamp on the team...
Like many others were for ages with Unsworth, I think we should stick with him, but wouldn't be arsed if he left...
An absolutely frightening prospect

1 win in 11.
On the plus side - we’ve beaten last seasons points tally with 3 games to go- if that isn’t a sign of progress I don’t know what is.
Only 5 defeats in 15 though so absolutely take the positives.

Recruitment was shite, the players are good enough.

Cool.
Bet you have the lube out praying for another Mellon loss today don’t you.
No praying required.

Well yes, I think individually the players are good enough, with some exceptions. But like I said in my post, we have suffered from a poor recruitment strategy and lack of any plan.
Is that okay mush ? Can you get your little head around that concept ?
Bit of a head scratcher given you are also trying to absolve Mellon of any blame, not sure all three points can co-exist.

People are reading way too much into this MM interview. The recruitment has been absolutely shite, majority of which was before he came in. He tried to make signings but it’s clear with the 30+ players we have he has limited resources to change things. He’s signed some absolute dross, or players not fit, due to the budget constraints which isn’t his issue.
The squad is so unbalanced and we can’t play a system which doesn’t result in 3/4 players either being out of position, or simply not good enough.
We are going to have a core of about 15/17 players going into next season. We will have the ability and resources to sign 5/6 quality players.
The majority of these players are good enough, we just need some pace, creativity and a clear system.
The players we have has let him down, along with the board and recruitment strategy, he probably is pissed off.
The recruitment has been shite but the players are good enough?

He could shit in your hands and some of you lot would be thanking him for dinner...

He’s got to be given time next season. He’s been hampered by Thompson and Unsworth spunkijg the budget on crap
Has big Rossy Coyne hacked your account? That's the kind of nonsense he's coming out with.

Nope...personally think the evidence was there from quite early-on, but let's not go down that rabbit-hole.
Get a fee for him over the summer, and it'd work out well all round.
No sensible club is paying a fee for him.

Thought Mellons interview is fair and not surprised he’s fed up. He really can’t be judged until we have a right back, wide players and a creative midfield player.
We must be one of the most predictable teams in the league in terms of how we play.
He signed players in all of those positions...
-
Wow, he's still training with the first team? He can't even exile someone properly...

He said he wouldn’t waste Frank’s money. It’s early days but the permanent signings of Hammond, & Conlon look dubious to say the least and as I’ve said before, IMO the signing of 36 year old Garner who will be on a good wedge was not good business as we’d already brought in Dallas only 7 days earlier!!
Sachdev & especially Walker have been consigned to the bin already…..If he’d wrote off the season why would he have brought that lot in?
It suggests to me that they were proper going for it and it’s sensationally backfired!
It’s either poor management, poor recruitment, or poor players or a combination ….Stones is the only incoming player I can remember who has made any sort of impact apart from perhaps Hobson & Yarney since the Rothwell’s took over.
Don't forget about our top scorer who has been brilliant and inspired all around him.
