You know the one thing that annoys me in all this is the players attitude . We have probaly have around a dozen players who will be quite content to sit around on their backsides doing cock all and probably not play for another season . I know they are within their rights . But some of these are young enough to move on and make a name elsewhere and play football which is what they want to do isnt it ?  Or has football created a culture of lazy dont give a fck attention seeking players . Football is a short career why waste so much of it not playing . I actually wonder if some of these players actually want to play . They talk a good fight , some of them need to grow some and get on with it or get out.

Players shouldn't be forced into moves they may not want to make just because one manager doesn't fancy them.

Sorry to repeat myself again as is my habit, but MM had chances to play wingers Atherton and Walker in the same team, but never did. Both will go on to play a far higher level than us IMO.

He stuck with his failed turgid 7 at the back hoofball and that's what annoys me more that anything.

Walker isn't going to play at a far higher level, you really need to admit defeat on that one.

Being told you aren't performing well enough should be good motivation, yes. Would you argue against that assessment?

What should he be doing, rubbing their heads and tell them they're doing a great job?

Coaching them, trying to develop them maybe? Where's his accountability? A few token words seems to be the most of it.

Well no, we will finish in the same position as we were in when he came into the job. Not getting better is a lot different to getting worse.

The team is where it is because of its limited capability. we started shit, looked ok for 22 games in the middle and looked shit again towards the end.  Mellon couldn’t change the trajectory.

and I don’t know what ‘we are getting into only certain results matter territory’ means. I am the one taking a whole season perspective here

The form table lads were jumping up and down in delight when the results were there and they were measuring the manager up for his statue.

Now they've turned it is all on the players and whoever signed them and nobody could possibly get a tune out of them anyway.

Surely any professional would want to prove that they are good enough,  because they certainly haven’t this season. The ones who aren't prepared to do that can fuck off for the easy life somewhere like Kings Lynn.

It isn't realistic to expect a load of players on the best contracts they'll ever have at the biggest club they'll ever be at to give it up easily.

That's why his outburst was utterly ridiculous and petulant.

So you automatically judge the quality of the team and it’s mentality based on the purple patch of the season and conclude that because of said purple patch they must be good enough?

We are getting into only certain results matter territory there, it is a fact that things have got worse the longer he has been in situ, which is supposed to be the opposite of one of Mellon's stated strengths...

What do you expect. A ten point strategy?

the guys has said the players are not good enough and he knows what we need. Thank god he sees it the same way as us.

He has every right to say ‘trust me’ as he is the football man within the club enTRUSTED to manage that side of this project based on his knowledge and experience. He doesn’t have to explain himself at every turn.

Results suggest the players were fine when he started in the job, they've got worse the longer he has had time to implement his 'plans'.

Seems unlikely that he'll be able to move vast swathes of under contract players out and bring a load in.

it’s not a difficult decision. A new manager will still inherit the same problems next season.

We have to stick to a plan and see that plan through. Offer MM the chance to make sweeping changes and hope that it’s enough to turn a squad (that still won’t quite be there, it must be said) from play-off fringes to where Bromley and Barney are; two teams which have evolved to where they are over 3-4 seasons.

Sacking MM, as much as a growing number of fans want to do, simply puts us at bigger risk of a repeat season.

Mellon's plan seems to be turn over 20 players and a big dollop of Trust me bro, hardly inspiring stuff.

He’s largely managing Unsworth’s squad of shite. I honestly don’t think there’s many managers that will get a tune out if a squad of players like ours. One without a reliable and fit central midfield, without any really pace and width, without a decent proper full back all season and with nobody who can seemingly get their foot on the ball and control a game.

On the latter above, I feel that’s why he opted for Conlon. An element of panic behind it, but he clearly saw straight away our midfield is embarrassing.

I don’t understand the Garner signing.

I do understand those arguing against giving him the summer and us potentially being in the same situation by October next season, but I’d trust Mellon and Brabin to identify what’s wrong, what we need, and how we can improve, over that fraud Unsworth who was only brought in because he was Royle’s mate.

And I don’t blame him for looking disheartened in the interviews he does, look at the shit he has to manage.

Like I said earlier, Mellon can’t be absolved of any blame, but for me, previous recruitment and an environment that was allowed to build up that’s resulted in mentally weak, uninterested players looking for a pay cheque is the bigger problem.

Why do you trust them Ste? Because of historical events? It has been suggested that Mike Jackson was a big factor in the Tranmere success, he isn't riding to the rescue.

I remember Mellon saying he wouldn’t be wasting Frank’s money.
Well….we got 6 players in who’ve hardly featured and who haven’t even hit the ground never mind started running, and have made no difference whatsoever.

No problem, he gets to bring another 10 in this summer, what could possibly go wrong...?
