A key figure during our survivals under Shez but his ability has declined a lot this year (in my opinion). Even if it hadn’t I would’ve still got rid due to his injury record. With Stott, Graham, Clarke, Hamer and Edmundon all available in that position he is clearly surplus to requirements - let’s bring in a decent striker with his wage.
Good luck at Carlisle Anthony and cheers for your service.
Agree with all of this

Ossie Ardiles for me at BP in the FA Cup tie on the old plastic pitch. Ball was pretty much glued to his foot for 90 mins!
Away from home agree with some others Andrei Kanchelskis at Maine Road in the FA Cup semi reply....tore us apart that night
Was that the game ardiles hit the bar and it was still shaking a few minutes later lol, also kanchelski,s dribbled round at least five of of players in a friendly and scored I seem to remember.

Asmir begovic played against us one season for Yeovil, he was excellent, wouldn’t have scored in a. month of Sunday’s.

I'd rather keep Clarke out of the two. But really they both ought to go.
I would keep Clarke out of the two also. Gerrard hasn’t looked fit since he’s been here, also he has the turning circle of a tank.

He seems to get his foot caught in the pitch, one of those injuries where he could have done something quite serious. Already looks doubtful to play again this season, as you can hear his pain.
Fingers crosses he is OK.
For those interested it’s on iPlayer.
I thought in the last 2 games , Ismail at bury, and Naismith for Portsmouth, had him on toast.

One thing that annoys the hell out of me is seeing an otherwise talented footballer using just one foot to the detriment of himself and inveribaly the team.
I am so looking forward to seeing this player for some reason, my brothers - my usual source of info - know nothing about him and I have not seen him in any clips but several sources have mentioned that he was the best player in the Irish league so hopefully in a few weeks of building match fitness we might have a good player.
That annoy,s me also, seeing our full back finding some space down the wing but allowing defenders time to get back because he has to cut back onto the other foot.hopefully Wilfred will be able to keep himself on the Pitch from now on.

Holloway's a massive asset off the bench. From the start he's been woeful time after time. 6 goals in 60 odd appearances is pisspoor, however Wellens gets the best out of him from the bench. Would I have him here next season? Not so sure, but I'd say that about Davies too. Would any of the top 6 want either of them? If as has been suggested he's a bit of a slapped arse, I don't care as long as he's doing a job - perhaps he's got a higher opinion of himself. He has the attributes to be a very good player but there's a reason he's on the bench week in week out. I'd be offloading in the Summer...

He seems to be better on heavier pitches coming on as sub, our pitch condition was a major factor in us staying up last season, and could well be this season in my opinion.with a fit Doyle, davies, nazon, and hollaway, I would start Doyle and davies, with nazon replacing Doyle, and Holloway a replacement for davies , in the last 15 minutes when there tireing. As for next season who knows we may have a foreign strike force.

Holloway's a good player at this level.
He seems to have a better impact coming on as a sub, when opposing centre halves are tireing, he was unlucky on Tuesday due to a bad bobble, my opinion he should have shot earlier, could be a confidence thing. Saying that I would be more worried, if he wasn't getting chances coming on as a sub.

I agree he's gone backwards a bit but he made quite a few decent saves, again, last night. These seem to be ignored.
That said Kean Bryan was Man of the Match by a mile....
Agree with this Bryan was my man of the match also.

So we have lost our 4 best players today, with the possibility of our second leading scorer going as well.

I hope so as we are left with gerrard, who has the turning circle of a tank.

Didnt someone on here, put the original football insider article about this on here yesterday, which the Scottish sun seem to have copied?

A lot of people being very sentimental here. Yes, he was excellent last season. But this season, he has looked like he has never played football before in his life. He should have retired immediately after the Carlisle game at the start of November...
Sentimental no?? Just that a lot of people think he's better than gerrard, as for retiring after the Carlisle game, what a stupid thing to say.

I agree with all of that, but Gerrard will be on decent money as well. I know he’s younger but I just prefer Clarke. Only my opinion but it’s Wellens’ opinion that counts and it looks like he’s being shown the door. It’s a sad way to go though for someone who was so immense for us last season.
I would have Clarke in the side over gerrard any day, better player and better leader.

Just because they've played well for a few months doesn't mean you can't call out their mistakes. Bryan has been pretty much faultless and i'm hopeful he's the one, if any to stay. Doyle would be next preferred one but, i just can't see it happening. Not too fussed about Byrne if i'm honest. The formation is fucked when he plays and without Doyle, i can't see us outscoring the opponents.
Agree with most of this, but Byrne has been our most creative midfielder since wellans.

It now seems that we have seen the last of Doyle. I assume the really funny stunt was before he contracted the virus because if not he looks very well on it. My take on his exclusion is that he is as good as sold and we have been encouraged not to play him.
Wellens created an entertaining side as a care taking manager that was also successful. Once he got the gig he maintained the excitement but was sadly less successful. With the successful completion of his team with the two Pauls we have rather quickly fallen off the rails. I doubt if this sequence of events is just a coincidence.
I stand by my view that having lost all momentum we are once again in for a difficult few months. We could stand losing Byrne and we might survive without Doyle but if we lose Bryan, who on yesterdays showing could play in any position at this level (yes probably even goal keeper), we will struggle.
Byrne has played well for us in patches but he does have issues. Rather than playing two up front Wellens et al could have played Byrne behind a lone Davies or Holloway as a number 10 with no defensive duties. We could then have had Fane and Gardener with two wide men for the four in midfield. Davies and Holloway seem to cancel each other out, both with their backs to goal and plainly nothing came of their efforts even though Davies should have hit the target with his shot and scored from the header.
I can't for the life of me how anyone can call, Bryan,Byrne, or Doyle, they have been our stand out players. Gerrard at the back through lack of pace (no disrespect to him) has been a problem. There centre half yesterday outshone gerrard, and they only had two chances due to our mistakes.

Agree with all of this he,s a leader, I wish the other members of the side would show his commitment.
