I take it the votes for banks are for the goal, as he did little else
-
agree Erwin was bad, can't hold the ball up , his touch was also not the best, when you can't hold the ball up it just going to keep coming back at you putting our defence under pressure. Ngoo did better once he came on.Erwin was dreadful...but it can be partly blamed in the distance between him and any other player in a blue shirt
-
i think NGOs is a better option than Erwin even half fitAssuming Holloway is out does the big lad get a start after his cameo on Saturday? Erwin back into the frame? Or Osei?
I do expect to see Green start in place of Flynn.

plastic scouse the lot of them, they just dip in slightly fancier bins that's all.Hoylake, not Birkenhead. They'd be fewmin if you accused them of being from Birkenhead, it'd be like saying someone from Uppermill was from Limeside.

I thought Tudgay was excellent for them ,held to ball up well, and nearly all of his touches/ passes came off.Coventry will go away thinking how they lost, but the 25 minutes between 50 and 75 are the reason they are where they are.
I thought they were quicker to the ball generally and certainly rotated the ball better and more quickly through the top two thirds.
BUT as soon as we started to press in the game they went missing. Mclaughlin, Green and Taylor started to drive at their back 4 and they just retreated and capitulated. It was only when we stopped doing what had served us so well that they came back into the game.
We have to work on our defensive shape when we lose the ball. For all the stick SR got for the posession quote I can see what he is getting at. Our fullbacks are so exposed its frightening and we don't seem to recognise or sense where we should be dropping back into to alleviate the pressure.
For all the talk of Ngoo, Mclaughlin was terrific through that period of dominance in the second half. His goal was the culmination of his positive movement and commiting defenders that created space elsewhere. His goal was the difference between the sides and thank god it was!!
A massive three points from a tough game and certainly three we wouldn't have picked up a month ago.
-
I said that we would win ,after they didn't put there chances away, for there second goal I was surprised there play beat both Clarke and gerrard in the air.Maybe dodged a bullet was abit excessive but Cov could of had us dead and buried, yes the team put a shift in second half but we didnt defend as well as we could of done either.

you could argue that the transport links are better than the arena in Manchester, bp is virtually on the motorway, metro link goes straight into town, plenty of buses from surrounding towns,.honestly dont think it would work heres your choice watch some old band at a wind swept cold possibley raining boundary park or goto the manchester arena dry warm good transport links etc who woud want to promote a gig at our place against that ?
they trid something similar years ago at leigh rugby and lost alot of money iirc
-
I agree harry I don't think it matters who plays, I don't think the council would have many objections to a few thousand people spending money in the town beforehand either.Isn't whether or not you enjoy it the bit that matters?
-
I would like to see Sean gregan as assistant to shez, I don't think we would have any problems with the work rate and motivation of the players.Locally?
-
maybe why any new investors are so difficult to find,It was confirmed by nnn and fellow supporters at the recent meeting that OAFC 2004 Ltd only get match day revenues (notes 24/01/2017)
Brass Bank Ltd and Oldham Event Centre Ltd get 'non match day' revenues
I would hope that OAFC 2004 Ltd would resist any attempt to use Boundary Park for any such events to ensure the playing surface is not put at risk of deteriorating further.
-
I'm sure Jenny said a few seasons back that we were going to have gigs at bp, never materialised though.15,000 is a typical pitch capacity.
Not sure the neighbour's would fancy it.
Sad Cafe vocalist is dead btw.
-
Are playing a gig at Prenton park ( tranmere rovers) in may, why are we not doing things like this to bring in much needed revenue? Sc is always crying hard up .
-
yeh what a shame rip, I often saw him in upsteps before a game.Knew the face of course but actually met him in the Upsteps a few weeks ago on a Friday evening. Sad news.
-
good news that gaz I think, his experience at the back can only help the relegation fight.Scunthorpe business finished, no Clarke deal.
-
good, we need our captain in this relegation battle. A couple of mid fielders and a decent partner for hollaway, fingers crossed.Scunthorpe putting in a bid for beevers CB from Bolton. Might be that Oldham are holding out for a decent fee
-
Is anyone parked outside BP or living across the road got their binoculars focussed onto the boardroom windows? I would have. Him back decent player
I'm busy for a few hours tonight so will be off here and social media. Could do with a signing or three before I'm away.
It's not like windows of the past when we have people reporting as they're at the gym or loitering outside or in Costa or in Nandos
-
they reckon there signing lavery as well.Sounds like Doyle to Portsmouth is done now. Really wouldn't be surprised at all if Main ends up back here.
-
wasn't there player asking him for the ball, and the ballboy threw the ball past him on to the pitch, and the player gave the kid a mouthful, that's what I saw from the other side of the pitch. What actually happened ?
-
probably will, not bad business for £30k is it? And we lose a stand out player.Probably not thinking that far ahead, might just help them win promotion though.
-
oh I see they want to sign him to lock up there defence and gain promotion, and play a 36yo c/b in the championship? The guess is that at 35 and contract runs out at the end of the year you are motivated by what is best for your career.
Option (1) Stay at a club that is fighting relegation, that has signed another centre half on a 2 1/2 year deal, and are strapped for cash and unlikely to offer either any deal, or a good one for next season
Option (2) Move to a club with a chance of promotion, that is likely to offer at least an 18 month contract and probably on better wages.
Not a hard decision is it.
-
that's a different question. A national news paper said on Sunday, that Taylor is on £4K a week at Bolton, we come into money?Taylor or Clarke, who would you prefer in our current situation?
-
agree with you on the goals bit, all our strikers have been awful this season, with the exception of hollaway ,who won more headers in the posh game than Erwin has all season. But don't agree on Clarke, we would be cut adrift now but for him and ripley.Defence will cope, Dunne should be back im a few weeks time and we can also recall Jamie Scott who has been doing well for Curzon Ashton? It's goals we need more than anything.
-
hope this doesn't come off, if he went now would he still be able to get his player of the season awards?Scunthorpe want Clarke - disagreement over a fee...
-
more chance of finding a huggy bear as a owner than a glazerWas he Starskey, or Hutch?
