  1. Well as the bugger who started this thread I thought i'd chip back in. Last night at cheltenham we had both versions and I reckn the Joe Ryle version won. Mind you it was very small numbers!!
  2. Sorry but don't get your hopes up with the lad. He looked full of energy but as Smalley proved last night with another Forest Gump impression running isn't the only quality you need. Felt a bit sorry for Ferreira as apart frpm a header he then went 10 minutes without touching it. He was trying a bit hard but gave us all the best laugh of the evening when he was running around in the box even though their physio was traeting a player. Fair play he's got some (dance) moves, and he obviously models himself on that overpaid arraogant actor who wears No 7 at that team in Trafford. He'll provide some entrtainment but lets not make him our saviour just yet please. One other comment - Martin Allen is still a cock.
  3. With regard to Hill & Gannon I just reckon that TTA will want someone higher profile if it's not Joe. A Manager with his pedigree is now the benchmark I reckon.
  4. As for our team - I reckon he'll pick: Supple Eardley Hazell Gregan Golbourne Liddell Allott Maher Jones Hughes Kabba Not necc my choice but what I think he might do
  5. For years it was never BFJ - I was there. Nothing to do with being PC - just read for a fact that he doesn't like it. Showing respect is not being PC. Anything else you need explaining?
  6. Bollox. seems you're the only one who thinks that. Perhaps your memory is clouded by being tiddley after some shandies and wine gums in your teenage years.
  7. It wasn't whinging, it was very loud foul mouthed abuse which given where I was sat would be heard by the player. It's obvious his confidence is low and these idiots seem hell bent on forcing him out.
  8. It's an interesting question isn't it. I witnessed 2 things yesterday in the RRE that pissed me off. It took 15 minutes for a guy to start loudly abusing Eardley, after about an hour I told him to give it a rest as it got louder and more pathetic. His response was " I was at MK Dons. I've paid my money, I'll have my say" Secondly at the end watching the game die out I was stood at the top when Eardley went down with Savage. A different guy altogether gave an outburst to the tune of "Kick him in the head Eardley, the black ba......, then went on to shout the N word repeatedly while laughing. His mates just laughed, i asked him if he would say the same to Kabba and he said "Yes, I hate him too." So my question is what does your £20 entitle you to legally & morally? And where should I go next time to avoid racists and serial abusers?
  9. Is my memory playing tricks or wasn't it "Joe Royle's Blue & White army?" when he was last here? That took over from Jimmy Frizzel's and went through other managers right up to "Sheridan's Blue & White army" recently. So why Big Fat Joe's barmy army? He doesn't like it, it's not funny and it's a bit disrespectful. Hopefully the core at Cheltenham on Tuesday will put it right, I'll have a go myself! Rant over.
  10. It's not surprising to see that with all the 80's nostalgia going on that comments like "she belongs to me" and "great cans" are being spoken. It's like we're in a time warp. Bet she's dead chuffed.
  11. Maybe mate yeah! I always try to get my point across in a reasonable way and I modestly reckon that I've made some good calls on the latics, even on here. But you've got to be honest and admit when you're wrong, you learn more from mistakes. I was also pissed off wit the billy big bollocks attitude of some of the smart arses on here saying "I told you so" It just shows you, that when asked why he came back Joe said, "I was asked." Everyone likes to feel wanted I guess.
  12. Some of you guys would have an argument in a phone box on your own. I'm aware of the frustrations, you're not exclusive to it all. However I was stating that it hasn't been ALL bad, we've had some decent results and some decent individual performances. The way it was described made us look like a bottom 3 club.
  13. Thanks H Just one more thing, people need to stop calling him Big FAT Joe. it's bloody disrepectful!! And there are a lot fatter than him in the seats. Big , in every way, yes - but fat no! Now as for Big Gordon, well............................................................
  14. Bit harsh, it's not been that bad has it? We're still up there and you don't win at Millwall without doing somethings right.
  15. Yep - have dug out my shadow stripe number sponsored by JD sports. Also found a leisure jacket that still fits with the club badge on the back, its a blue fleck bad taste object - came with tracksuit type bottoms too originally. anyone else got one?? Also remember we used to sing Royle, Royle ( as in roy-al to amazing grace) a lot as well as "walking down sheepfoot lane" Lets go RETRO!!!
  16. Last week after the Col U game emotions were hgh. Harry started a thread whch called for the return of Bg Joe. I replied as follows: Harry I'm surprised at you, I thought you were one of the voices of reason on here so before replying I've had a good think about things. And i still reckon that this is an over-reaction for the following reasons: 1. This decision goes against the priciples that Joe stands for, in a nutshell he wouldn,t come. Remember how long he had learning the trade before success came? 2. TTA know that we would be the laughing stock of football. In the 2 live games this season both analysts have commented on the excellent job Shez has done with the money available. 3. The poll is meaningless. There is a massive silent majority who do not use this or other boards to vent their feelings. Trust me if it came to a proper test of all the fans then it would be a no brainer - Shez to stay, 4. The real debate should be if we don't go up does Shez deserve another contract, I reckon that wiuld be 50/50 Stay positive! Well what the hell do i know!! I totally mis read the situation and I'm not ashamed to say I got it totally wrong. a little bit of head ruling my heart with Shez I guess but having heard him on GMR I reckon he knew he was on his bike. I think you timed the thread well again Harry in your usual modest way Much better than the "I told you so" and "you heard it here first" big heads on here. I said i wasn't gonna post again until the end of the season and in one respect I haven't, cos this is now a new season in itself. I'm right behind the big fella
  17. I understand what you're saying but given our crowds I just think our expectations are too bloody high. We're over achieving as it is. I'm getting more and more pessimistic, I really do think that this is as good as it's gonna get and looking at some of the comments on here probably what we deserve! Now some idiot will tell me I'm a happy clapper!!
  18. Whereas of course you do? More than Beagrie & Birtles who have spent their working lives in football??
  19. I reckon long term he might make it as a striker
  20. Here are the facts - quite interesting! Andy Ritchie Team From To Record G W L D Win % Oldham Athletic May 7, 1998 October 31, 2001 179 59 75 45 32.96 Barnsley March 4, 2005 November 21, 2006 88 29 28 31 32.95 Huddersfield Town April 11, 2007 April 1, 2008 51 22 24 5 43.14 John Sheridan Oldham Athletic 1 June 2006 Present 144 59 44 41 40.97 Most agree that he was unlucky at Latics where he had a similar record as at Barnsley. But still not as good as Shez until he went to Huddesfield! Apparently at Barnsley he was accused of not spending money! In fairness probably not a lot to choose between them although I firmly believe in giving a Manager time.
  21. You've confused me there pal! You're talking about year 1 at the top level? What about all the 80's??
  22. And just what has Andy Ritchie achieved as a gaffer? Be careful, someone last night pointed out on here that Shez has the 4th most succesful Latics record ever. And Saint Andy (nice guy though he is) isn't above him! Don't mistake him being a good player for a good gaffer.
  23. Harry I'm surprised at you, I thought you were one of the voices of reason on here so before replying I've had a good think about things.
