  1. Tsk! Can that man not multi-task?

I was talking to a long time suffering Forest fan, who said Crossley was always a cracking shot stopper, but was reluctant to leave his line very much. Though at his age i guess it'll take him a while to get back to the line now  Though i think we at bp are used to keepers being a bit shy coming for crosses now....(thinks back to the days of Peter Mcdonnell!!)

  2. Milly was a great latics servant and probably an absolute get to play against.

I even have a signed blackpool shirt  that Milly wore, whilst playing for the lashers.

Definately an unsung player by some of the fans, but i'm sure all the players who played with him recognised his worth to the side.

    Original Yard Dog!!!

  3. The Specials' version is definitely more match-friendly.

    I reckon:

Full Time, win or lose: The Boys In Blue, re-recorded by Slayer (Surely they could be persuaded?)

I'm liking it!!! Though not so sure a version from slayer will be for the grown ups

  4. Voted for mouldy old, but it's not exactly a foot stomper i know!

After a goal though you could play owt really, as long as the ball is in the back of whoevers net, i'm not bothered what's coming out of the speakers (The thought of mistletoe and wine by cliff richard ringing out after a Ricketts goal though probably would piddle me off i guess!!)

  5. That rings a bell. Where did he lurk?

    Harold Wilson :D

I used to go to St anselms, and when we used to sneak out at dinner time and go to the chippy, we used to see him 'lurking' around the coppice area!

    He was dead funny!!!!

He used to chase you down the street, i even remember him 'scoffing' a big handful of what looked like ham before trying to throw it 500yards down the road at us....quality

  6. I'm not sure Pogs will be good backup TBH. I think a lot of his problem is that he's very critical of himself (you can see it on his face if he lets a bad one in). It's anyone's guess what frame of mind he'll be in when he is called upon. I'm still puzzled as to why we let two promising youngsters go when they might have benefited from Crossley's coaching

Good points LL especiall regarding the kids - Terry Smith!??

I think if Pogs is called upon, he'll be fine - also due to Crossleys influence, i am sure he can also improve Pogs, with his experience etc.

  7. Not to stae the blindingly obvious... but has anyone made sure there isnt a match taking place anyway... ?? I really have no idea how clayton works...

As for the Cold showers, fine - aslong as all the Northerners are not hogging them washing the mud off thier whippets.

Technically, we are supposed to let the council know thatwe will be playing on there. I'm not sure if any of the organisers want to look into that - but Saturday morning can be quite busy on Clayton - with kids football taking place sat am. However, if pitches are busy, an alternative(if posts are up) could be the nearby red barn, and i'm quite sure all 6 pitches are not busy sat morning.

  8. think it will be crossley, but by the end of the season, pogs will be back to number one, gut feeling

Have to agree, i do hope Pogs stays, as he would be a cracking back up, and i do get the feeling that Crossley may just struggle to complete a season, possibly due to injuries sustained through the year.

Either way, Crossley/Pogs are pretty good No1 options at this level.

  9. Used to play 5-a-side there every thursday for 2 years, but in May we moved as we found out it was being shut/knocked down in July due to the stadium expansion, not sure if this has gone ahead though.

It has closed, but i would doubt that it will be knocked down for the short term.

There are a couple of functions that Lees have to honour, then after around the 21st July, it's up to Latics what they plan to do with it.

  10. Any chance of a 12 start...shortened(ish) game..then.if the clayton re-opens by then, i will see if we can use their changing facilities, then time also for a couple of light ales (shandys for our southerly friends!) afterwards, before we see Ricketts bag his first hat trick of the season!!!
