Gaw, we'd have a really naff summer if we couldn't have a right gud over potential signings.

As to Ricardos question of the club 'suddenly' finding money. I think you'll find that even going back to the forum last season, the board have stated on a number of occasions that they would fund Shez for players.

We FINALLY have a board with money, who are more than prepared to pay decent players' salaries and even the odd transfer fee, and yet stiil the odd fan have a whine!!

On Davies (finally) he looked very useful last year against us, IMO would be a cracking signing

As for Allott its been handled as you would expect reasonably quietly with nothing further to add at the moment.

Why should this be a major issue though, the fact that Oldham Athletic are sending a message out to sign quality players! in order to either attract attention or keep players here!! Is that not what we all want come the first game of the season.

I don't understand fans who criticise the club for announcing that they are trying to sign quality, whether it comes off or not.

I can see why it's a disappointment, as of course i am very disappointed, but is that not all part and parcel of following the club you love and raising the interest of us the fans.

There have been times in the past when i have thought i was going to die myself after running round like im an 18 year old.

 

Thats why i will be back on my fitness regime next week until lthe start of the season, but this time im going to keep it going after the season starts as well.

Agree completely. If we failed so what can't change it but to go public yet again is pure spin to support the quality statement. Very disapointed with PR. Surely you can discuss a deal, agree a deal , sign a deal then anounce a discussion- deal- signing delayed to build up anticipation but only delayed a couple of hours in the safety you got it right. Very poor.

I think criticizing this approach is only because it was a high profile signing. If the Mark Allot deal doesn't come off will you be as critical of the PR?

Disagree with that footy. I think the fact that the club are going for that calibre of player shows their ambition and they IMO are definately entitled to be excited to tell the fans what is going on.

U'd be a bit miffed if it was Guy Branston or Rob Scott or a similar player they were pushing a deal for!!

The real 'traitor' test came when Latics played Shamrock Rovers in the Isle of Man and Burton Albion in the F.A. Cup. Then there was no contest - naturally it was Latics 100%, although I didn't go OTT in celebrating our victories. Actually, I nearly died when we almost went out of the Cup in both games against the Brewers - another good reason to support them with a nickname like that!

I have to say i really did "dislike" messrs RM and Branston ( I actually thought he was one of the worst footballers to play for us) and i know we've been through the list of 'bad uns' but that's how much i didn't rate him.

But if the trannies turned up to bp next year with Branston in the side, the paddock will certainly be full of HOOF HOOF HOOF shouts!!! and probably the Whit Hart after!!

Yes, but they wouldn't show those dropped by players unheard of would they, i guess. So prob like most keepers, when he drops a clanger, they look shocking, but because he has played at the top level it is highlghted more.

After a cracking trip in Brighton last year..looks like it'll have to be our "weekend away"(now that the lashers are no longer with us!) trip this year on Feb 23rd, but not to worry, we can then watch the boys in the carling cup final the day after!!!

I didn't think i was suggesting to ask 4000 season ticket holders, but maybe a way that would allow everyone to bid, not just those who can afford it! Possibly everyone bids £20 and all those names go into a hat (A very big one at that price!!) I can't really think of another way tbh, but an opportunity for those who cannot afford £100 plus might be fairer.

Besides, it's the only way, if i played i'd be able to go past anyone these days
