  1. mediocre? Try fighting relegation.. I've been saying it all pre-season.

and this isn't unfounded doom and gloom; There's a reason we didn't perform after January last season, weak squad... and now an our starting 11 has taken a few big hits.

Gregan and Liddell? Past it. Last should have been their final season.

Not impressed with Shez and his [lack of] ability to bring in talent.

Anyway, we shall see... I really hope I'm wrong and Shez brings something out of the bag. *thinks positive thoughts*

Are you sure it is only owls you fear? That was a pretty fierce post!! :o

  2. I was talking to Tony a few weeks back and he was saying how he loved playing against Wellens, he also didn't rate Porter.

After last few days, there's prob not many of US who rate them two!! :blahblah:

And btw...voted for Wellens. More in his locker.

  3. I've posted earlier regarding players' decisions (Porter) and that it is their right to move on and improve theirself, how i wish i'd not posted that now!!! But i just feel with wellens so piddled off because of where he has gone. Just goes to show, yet another money grabbing, greedy basket, and i suppose we are now feeling just the same as Blackpool did, when he signed for us.

No consolation at the moment though. :disappointed:

  4. I remember the Championship season well and him winning player of the year that season, I thought the Wednesday game was one of his worst games that season and then Shezza dumped him on his arse and rest as they say is history!!!!! :D

Good hard working full back who battled for the cause as he was a local lad, I think he went to Hulme Grammar his younger brother Chris used to go to Hathershaw with a few of my mates!!!

I used to play football with Chris at Bergmans and Chadderton. He was also a good footballer.

Andy though was one of the last in 'proper' footballers, he came across as a chap who lived and breathed football, yet did it in his own way.

    Leg end Andy!!

  5. all i can say for liddle is short corners or a bad cross hes a good squad player but im not sure how long he can last

has the most quality in his feet, than any other member of our current squad and yes i agree that he's not the type to be flying past full backs or flying to track back, but his delivery and quality of ball in the box last year, was imo very underestimated by a lot of 'tics fans - sure he's got a part to play again this year in what is shaping up to be a pretty strong squad. :OWTB1:

  6. I would just like to add my (considerable..ish!) weight to the northeners plight.

With an ass like gregans and ability to match  i shall be putting myself forward for a centre halfs position for the northern boys (sponsored by gravy!!) northern boys love gravy!!!

  7. There isn't usually any, but I'm sure some may be open to persuasion........

Apart from the obvious reason of asking?!?! Just to inform folks that (I'm sure my info is correct) but the clayton arms is closed from this weekend, so obviously on site drinking after the game wouldn't be an option.

But if anybody fancies a cheeky couple after, locally, could bear in mind other options.

  8. Should b able to make this sunday guys(and gals)..(once mi calfs and ankles have calmed down from 2 6-a-side and 20/20 cricket games :) this week!!!

Will def be looking forward to it!! :)

Jus out of curiosity, priorities and all that, where is the post match beer drinking held? :drinking:

  9. looking at the lack of options at the moment up front, bear in mind it could well take Hughes a month or two to get match fit, i think he would def give us a good option.

  10. I can understand their frustration, after bankrolling the club as they have done and seemingly receiving very little of it back yet and i guess as owners of the club i suppose they are more than entitled to moan if and when they wish.

However Bigfin, you are SSOooooo right when you question why would Porter want to got Dundee.

    Possible Answer; AGENT!!

Unlike Plymouth, Stoke and anyone else rumoured to be interested, Dundee wouldn't have to pay a transfer fee and as an agent, where do you think he will be suggesting an improved "signing on "fee goes???

I am sure Porter and the agent would probably receive more in their "sky rockets" with no transfer fee involved!!

  11. It's hardly a loophole, it would be the same if he was to join a French, Spanish or Italian team, you only get compo if he joins a club in your own country.

I think the whole Bosman thing still shows a loophole in the fact that you are entitled to compensation from a club in this country, yet another country can "reap" the benefits of our coaching, league structure etc etc....

Whether we(English clubs) buy players on a Bosman from abroad and pay nowt, or vice versa, i find the system unfair!!

Going back to my initial :rant.sml: it is always those who need the finances more i;e lower league clubs who seem to be penalised by this!!

  12. :censored: Scandalous. Is there any ruling, law or agreement that ever gives lowers league clubs any kind of benefit!!! Lower league clubs always seem to miss the boat financially on so many deals, transfers etc, i've no doubt that if it was some premier greed side then they would have the loophole closed off.

The football Administraion need to get their act together and stop clubs like ourselves continually losing finances due to "loopholes!!!!!":angry:

  13. Although I disagreed with you specifically about Berger you are right in general. Berger was at the club (I believe) probabbly would of signed if all gone as planned BUT Villa appeared to have been unwilling to pay a % expected by latics. [ Reports now suggest Villa didn't even know about it viz NO enquiry????? - porkies!!!!!!!!! from someone.]

I simply would have liked the OS not to build it up too much when even by the first posting 2 hours would have given us the proper tale. You end up a bit/lot/totally disapointed when you could have read the story and think well done for trying without the stress.

Fair enough, and i was also disappointed, but prob like y'self and others after following latics for many years, we know that this calibre of player arrives at ice staion zebra very rarely, so i think it is good that we get to know about it and get a bit (sheff utd) about it, it keeps the pre season wait ticking along nicely!

  14. To me, this guy looks exactly the type of player we should be paying cash for... he is young, has been wanted by bigger clubs than us, is a full international... and although not prolific, has shown enough potential to show he will turn into a cracking player... especially at our level

He looked bang on against us - big, powerful, and banged in two goals - showing at our level, he looks a damn good striker...

We are not a prem team matey! This guy looks spot on for us to shell out a few thou for .... defo worth £50k - £100k IMO....

    :applause1:
