  1. i mentioned this on an earlier thread. hughes can read a game far better than davies and will take a chance on one of ricketts knockdowns.

davies plays for himself and trys to beat every man on the field, he always has his head down.his first touch is a disgrace and when he does pass it is always 5 mins after he should have released it in the first place.

i know davies has 6 or 7 goals this season, but does he actually fill anyone with confidence when shooting at goal.the one on one was a joke at weekend ( ricketts would have scored as would wolfy or hughes )

as a team i think performances would improve, if maybe he was used in the last 20 mins from the bench. the ball would certainly stay in the final third for longer for a sustained attack. we might even work the opposing keeper once in a while.

just an opinion.... but the more i watch davies the more i lose faith in the team to score enough goals to keep us up, not to mention push for the playoffs.

Maybe so, but Davies is our only consistent threat going forward, and seem's the one most likely to score at the moment.

  2. The team raised their performance against DS Leeds, no reason why the won't do the same away at Forest. We've only been fairly poor the games I've seen so far this season rather than the really crap ones the rest of you have had, so I'm still quite chirpy :)

Raised their performance and managed 1 shot on goal all game <_<

One point from 9 for me.

    Hopefully be proved wrong!

  3. Well if you ask me you're right shez thought we were to soft especially in midfield and decided aka Rockin Ron style that the way out of this league was by force not guile. So now we have personel in JP and Allot who Shez thought could add steel as well as play passing football, sadly if you ask me again, he got that dead wrong cos niether can with any cutting edge malice to the oppo. Allied to that centre piece of the spine Gregan started like a 'I am a prima donna' bundled together with an abject Thompson (every manager can get a couple of signings completely wrong) with an aging stiff stuck to the line keeper at the base of the spine, whilst at the top end we had an unfit Rico and absent Hughes. Plus Taylor who as been well and truely useless. That's way to many passengers for any bus.

This is the reason why we look decidedly below average in the footballing stakes and very shaky indeed. I fear for this season cos the budgets gone and the current players (most) have all got contracts beyond this season. Moving players on in big enough quantities will be a tough ask to allow better players in to improve things this season during the window. I honestly think Sheridan as got his mix wrong and further I believe Sheridan knows it too now.

Very well said. Couldn't agree more.

JP and Allott are no better than Rocastle in my opinion.

OAFCShuck, the performance at Forest last season had been coming for a while, from the start of the season we were playing attractive decent football, creating chances but with no one to put the ball in the net, wasn't Forest Porters first game back?

This season we look disjointed, barely thread 3 passes together, and because of the lack of support our midfield offer the strikers we have no or little threat going forward. Say's it all we couldn't break down a very poor Cheltenham side when they had 10 men.

  4. Anyone listen to the interview on LW

Stu Vose "Thomopson came on and had quite a decent game" Shez just doesnt speak and blames him for two of the goals later on.

Gary Mac [McDonald] trains like a trojan and is dying for a game -- lots of people are available now and it's up to me. If I see people not doing it then I will leave them out because we need results."

    Get him in.

Bloody hell things are bad if we're calling for out of form Gary McDonald to be recalled to the team.

  5. Sums it up when we need a goal, all we have to bring on is Downing and Crouch. Not good enough.

We looked like a underdog in a FA Cup 3rd round tie defending for our lives whilst trying to hold out for a draw/snatch a goal! Bloody pathetic.

Russia wanted it more, which is being said all too often with regards to England.

  6. Not a fan of Tony Carss then eh? Not surprised really.

I dread to think where we'd have ended up without the signing of Carss and Eyres that season.

As someone has already said, extend Hazell's deal or it'll mean having Thompson back in defence... much like having Richard Butcher at centre half!!!

  7. The whole stadium ... :censored: i looked around and there was afew near me. People boo him off and get slagged off ..

Anyway everyone has a different opinion and thats what these things are for.

I know I feel afraid to post a comment which isn't in praise of anything to do with Oldham Athletic.

I was praising Ricketts after the games against Walsall and Crewe.

Tonight he wasn't great.. not helped by crap service, and a strike "partner". Who's never on his wavelength and nowhere to be seen when Ricketts wins his flick ons.

  8. OAFC0000. I dont expect him to chase down lost causes ala Davies/Warne.

I do expect him to look interested and a threat to score a goal which is what a striker is there for!

Like I said before his cause is not helped by our piss poor service, set pieces, crosses etc.

  9. Even you call him Colin...as in...Colin W***er....why?

Of course he was a yes man...he had ample opportunity to join Stop The Rot or even from his position, to turn fans heavily against the board. No fans, no club.....it would've forced the club into either keeping him and backing him, or selling the club and leaving. To be honest, we've only got his word that he wanted a contract and thought he was going to get one. I never once believe he wanted to stay.

As for comparing Moore and Warnock, I'd love to see Warnock try and do for a club what Moore did at Rotherham with the resources he had there. Makes me laugh when people claim Moore played so much "boring" football....blinded by bu****** that it was all long ball and when it was, players last season even admitted it wasn't under Moore's instructions, it was coz we had players "not good enough" (that's a quote from Wellens) clearly indicating Branston and his hoofs coz he was dire....could name numerous games where we destoryed teams and not a hoof in sight...Bradford away for one.... Plafalse memories engrained forever in the haters! Oh and if winning is boring, then something is wrong with you!

    That Bradford games was class.

    Branston was gash.

Ronnie brought in a number of the players "not good enough". He also brought in the few that nearly secured us promotion last season, Wellens, Liddell, Porter etc.
