  1. The Northerners had a decent kick about today. 7 a side after the injury which lead an ambulance coming out (that for some reason, didnt know where clayton fields were.) ('Look out yer window and we'll wave') LOL.

Not to mention the very kind beardy when asked to give the 2 paramedics a hand. "no you're alright love" Hahaha!

Some decent players though. Beltin infact. The OASIS lot may as well just go the pub and concede the game.

Cream Crackered, with the hangover just about kicking in!!! I think the pub is calling.

Bad do that injury. He just went over awkwardly and just said dead casual "I've Just Broke my leg" thought he was joking at first until I saw his leg at a dodgy angle and swelled up.

Other than that was a good game, shame I work most Sundays!

  2. I would just like to remind the following people. (Plus anymore if they want to come down) That training is on on Sunday at 1pm.

Yer will be there, although it'll be badly waterlogged!

  3. So after many arguements (mainly between me and Fin about selling Neal Eardley) i have decided to pose the question.

Are full backs useful in the modern game?

I believe that they support the wingers, the over-lap is a very good technique to use, while I like a solid defence i think that having 6 players in a team involved in an attack rather than just 3 or 4 is brilliant.

The argument (well ok, discussion) between me and Fin basically had two points of view.

One - Sell up, full backs are useless in this division.(Fin's)

the other - full backs are crucial (see all points above - thats my opinion btw )

    Thoughts?

Full backs are more than useful, especially our right hand side with Liddell, overlaps are needed to create the space for him to whip a cross in as obviously he doesnt have the legs to beat a man anymore.

  4. Chaddy, if I can work it out I will, its on an 8mm tape and Ive lost my cable to transfer it but I'll defo try and get something sorted and I'd happily send a disc out to all who want if I can sort it out :)

Chaddy whats happened? Your shooting used to be class. I remember you scoring from kick off on Kaskenmoor numerous times, and there smaller nets on there!!

  5. I would dearly love to hear either "Wake Up" by the Arcade Fire, or "I Am The Resurrection" by the Stone Roses as the players approach the pitch. They're both pitch perfect as a) being :censored: great songs and B) slow-buildups which are sure to get the crowd going.

So, slow build-up songs for pre-match.

And for scoring a goal... something punchy and distinctive like "Move on Up" by Curtis Mayfield, "Louie Louie" by the Kingsmen, "Standing In The Way Of Control" by The Gossip, or "Blue Orchid" by the White Stripes. Especially the last one as it has such an infectious and distinctive opening riff. And it has Blue in the title!

Any of them get my vote.

Love Spreads by The Roses and Chemical Brothers-Song to the Siren, would be good tunes for the players to come out onto the pitch

  6. Talking to a few guys at the Cricket in Hove and I mentioned I was a Latics fans. One of the them took a great interest and asked me about the fans, club, team etc .... eventually after about ten minutes chatting about Latics he told me that his cousin had been talking to the club this wk. Defender, released from Championship club and thats your lot!!! Don't want his name bouncing around in case its true as it just may effect the signing processetc...

Feel free to PM your guesses .... but i won't let ya if you right or wrong !!!!!!! Watch this space

Ummm .... I wonder if I should visit the boardroom???

Been told its John McGreal, the one place where we have enough cover is at centre half!! Strange signing if true.

  7. Tony Carrs was never more than a winger at Latics.

Wellens has run that midfield for two seasons, if Wellens has a bad game, Oldham have a bad games, its been said many times, that shows how much he ran the team.

Carrs was never more than a winger. Erm, he never played there we had Eyres on the left wing in all the time he was here!

Your right that when Wellens had a bad game Oldham performed poorly, probably a good thing that he's gone as we became too reliant on him. We also won't see anymore of the rubbish short corners with Liddell, and the daft quick free kicks that hardly ever came off (apart from against Wolves!)

My mate coaches with Tony Carrs, he sometimes joins in with the game at the end, his knee has completely gone now, hes knackerd after 5 minutes.

  8. Ah. So that is you who stopped me scoring. The ball came across, just about to tap it in and you barely beat me to it. Quality tackle that. Not as good as that one on Sheridans World by that woman

I'm just suprised everyone who was out till 3am last night wasnt sick. You could see the one's who'd been out. We were all lying on the ground after 5 minute's.

Sheridan's World counting and shouting out how many time's I slipped on my arse. I think it was about 18 by the end of the game. Own fault for wearing trainers. Some good players there, just a shame they all seemed to be on the opposite side

pish Heads Athletic 4-7 Sober FC.

At least the pish heads who got in at 3am, didnt have work at 8am like me!!

Hopefully organise it for Saturday next time so I can play :)

  9. Just the same amount as any other time. Only interested in the news not really bothered how its presented and layout.

If i was arsed about how websites and things were layed out and presented I'd definitely stop reading the Oldham Evening Chronic!!

  10. i think edwards' performances this season especially before getting injured and the fact that he has pace something we desperately lack have got him the new contract, not just his performance in the last game of the season!A lot of people in my view have given Edwards unwarranted stick i thought he was playing v well before he got injured early on in the season and then never got a chance to win his place back properly.

Aye I agree forgot about the beginning of the season, I remember him playing very well at Forest where I believe he picked up that injury?

His performance at Crewe was also good, despite being thrown into the first team with a lack of match fitness.

  11. He would have been reasonably cheap yes, compared with other players that Shez has his eyes on, I dont know.....as for him being the squad player obv like I said the ins and outs of that we dont know. From what the poster above stating what warne has stated obviously not then. Good luck warney!

Not good enough, ran his heart out all day. But is no threat, finishing is poor and has no pace.

If we want to move forward, players like Warne needed to go, good decision Shez.

On another note, It looks as though Edwards' performance on Saturday saved him for being released, its a shame Warne couldn't have done something similar.

  12. Carlo actually only scored 4 that season !

    >>2002/03 stats<<

Carlo was alot like Warne is now, scoring record for a striker is relatively poor. But the effort and commitment put in makes them favourites with the fans.

Mark Allotts and Scott Vernons scoring records were much better but were absolutely hated by some sections of the crowd.

  13. 10 goals this season is his best return says it all about him as a striker.

However his effort and what he contributes to the team mean he should as someone has previously said be offered another 12 months.

Definitley need some pace in the team next season though!

  14. Terrible Forbes was disgusting, blatant fouls, and even gave the fingers to the Chaddy!

After all the abuse he got last year its not surprising he gave the fans the fingers.

He was his usual crap self, with a great spooned pass laying Warne off for a free shot on goal.

Yeovil were crap obviously came for a 0-0 or to nick it 1-0. If Warnes lob had gone in following a rubbish clearance from Mildenhall, that would have easily settled the goal of the season debate.

Lastly Rocastle can feel hard done by getting dropped as he has been one of the better performers recently, thankfully Macca repaid Sheridans faith in him.
