  1. A great list, and happy to say i was at most of them - the only other game I would add is when we won 2-1 and stayed up 3 seasons back... a certain Mr Kilkenny's last game for us in the previous spell - and possibly some of the best scenes I have ever seen at BP after Killen and Beckett scored....

Also add another random match - when we beat the Trannies in the tin-pot cup... eyresy scored from half way line and then penalties - brilliant...

3-2 away at Hull City in the FA cup.

    Class Sheridan free kick.

    "3-2 to the Taliban"

  2. Maybe some of the older and wiser people at Boundary Park could stop moaning about 'the good old days' and how good we 'used to be' and start cheering the players because some, like myself, have never seen the same success and wont do while people reminise about what has been and gone. For your children and grandchildren, let them experience what you did only 15 years ago, cheer the lads on and lets see this club rise once more.

I moan that I missed the glory days!!

  3. Just to p**s everyone off, I'd love Lee Hughes to be top scorer in League One this season. Yeah I know that's a bit too optimistic but it'd still be incredibly funny.

Back to reality, I reckon he could score quite a few for us, his performance was pretty good and he certainly puts in a lot of effort which is brilliant considering this is only his second match and he's only had a few training sessions. Give him a bit of time and he'll be absolute class

I'd love any of our players to be top scorer.

Not going to happen with how were playing-long ball wise.

And the service they are getting from the midfield.

  4. Putting aside my opinion on Hughes, he did nothing of note on Saturday apart from constantly fouling the defenders and moaning to the ref.

People seeing things that weren't there.

Don't think he did much on Saturday.

Can only be as good as the service to him, which was absolutely dire.

  5. RUBBISH! He got us to the playoffs last season.

We had this same start last season. WE WERE CRAP UNTIL MID-SEPTEMBER! HAD SOMETHING LIKE THE SAME NUMBER OF POINTS AND THE SAME NUMBER OF GOALS.

Jesus flaming well wept. Why are you people so anti-managers? The fact the we have lost 4 league games in a row? Would you really want him sacked if we are top come May? Would you really? What if we had got promoted through the playoffs last season? Would you be calling for Sheridans head if we had lost four league games in a row?

GOD SOME PEOPLE PISS ME OFF.

Difference was last year we were playing decent football with no one to stick it in the net, sometimes over passing it.

This season we have barely strung 5 passes together... and our defence has looked about as strong as a Sunday Leagues side back four.

Playing people in their right positions and utilizing the talents of our strikers rather than just whacking it up to them and expecting them to do something will probably be a start.

No chance Sheridan should go, he will get it right. We saw it at Burnley.. apart from the crap finishing we outplayed them for long periods.

  6. Woah woah woah!

I was being sarcastic with that list of managers.

Bloody hell even Ronald Moore was better than the majority of that list.

Still in full support of Sheridan, only 5 games in. Apart from infront of goal, I thought we'd clicked at Burnley, its obvious we have the ability.. it's just not happening at the minute.

Thompson at Right back was baffling though, the guys off form, playing him out of position isn't going to do him or the team any favours!

  7. so for all the sheridan doubters who want him sacked ????????????????? who do you have in mind to replace him

any person that is out of a job of course - that can come in and turn it around

Bring back Mick Wadsworth, Neil Warnock, Brian Talbot, Graeme Sharpe!

Bar the odd hint of glory (last season and the Dowie season), I've only witnessed complete dross.

I envy you buggers who were around and remember the pinch me years!!

  8. The fact that players are being played out of position isn't helping.

Thompson at right back? When we have a perfectly capable right back in Eardley on the bench.. can't have been because Neal was tired, as he was sat on his arse in the stands for Wales game against Slovakia.

Too much hoof, not enough creativity.

  9. No balance in the side, we have a left back who's obviously uncomfortable there and can't defend, but has pace and likes to burst forward so could do a job on the left wing and play Lomax/Giddings(if he comes back) at left back. Switch Taylor over to the right- his favoured flank and would probably see an upturn in form, and as OldhamSheridan (I think) said, Liddells legs have gone.

    Sure Sheridan will sort it.

One plus point from today and Burnley, McDonald is gradually coming back to the form he showed at the start of last season which is encouraging, but goes awol during games-then again if could perform for 90 minutes he wouldn't be at Oldham Athletic.

Kalala did alrite today, and Allott did well when he came on- hardly ever gives the ball away cheaply, and was about the only one to put a decent tackle in during the second half.

  10. Crossley doesn't fill me with confidence, but then neither do the slow noobs at the back and a left winger playing at left back.

Someone made a point on the coach today.. since 1997 Crossley has played I think he said 36 times.. so going off that Pogs will get his chance soon enough.

  11. As an ex scout I would be interested in who you think could be future stars.

They can be at any level - many of my discoveries have been from non league.

During the season I will post my thoughts on Latics players and tactics, and from other matches I attend.

Remember though its all about opinions...I was once told by a manager of a top flight club I worked for that a player I recommended from non league would never make the grade - even at football league level...the boy later signed for another club and went on to win many caps for England.

I would add though I have been wrong occasionally in my judgements too.

I am a great admirer of the work Tony Philiskirk does for the Latics juniors, not just in helping to produce promising players, but the way he conducts himself too.

    Regards,

    BP1960.

That McLean at Peterborough who I think they signed from Grays, looks like he could play at a higher level.

  12. He looks like he’s about to do something special, but it just doesn’t come off. It never did. He looks like he’s using his football brain to make decent runs, take up good positions, but it doesn’t quite work out. It never did. He plays what looks like a skilful, clever flick, but it doesn’t find a team mate. They never did.

Maybe that might be due to playing alongside poor players who don't read his runs, cant deliver a decent final ball and dont read his fancy one touch lay offs.

Certainly has been the case here at times.

  13. Thank you for that constructive comment. I'm working on my time machine as we speak.

LOL! sorry, that was really aimed at Chickers, who ended up not going to this years Beer Walk type effort.

I'd be up for that pub crawl but definitley reduce the amount of pubs! For us lightweights.

  14. They're just possibilities - it's just the pub crawl that is the idea - actual pubs / rules or themes etc are open to suggestion. I just wanna know whether to sort that stuff out or not - which I will only do if people are interested!

It's the day after the OWTB vs OASIS match (Bristol Rovers at home), so I thought some of the exiles may be about as well! So it's 26th August - and a Bank Holiday, meaning we can start earlier, and not have work the next day (apologies to those who do)!

Should have just done the High Crompton beer walk!

  15. Davies the best signing so far.. only comparisson to Warne is that he chases the lost causes, he has everything that Warne didnt.. Strength, Pace and an End Product.

Impressed with Allott and Kalala break the play up well and play the simple ball, both would be a perfect partner to Kilkenny in midfield if he ever arrives!!

  16. I apologise in advance if this has been mentioned before but it appears Oldham Council have added the details of responses received from neighbours to the club regarding the proposed development of BP.

Have to say doesnt look like the local people around BP want any development at all.

Hopefully the council will take into consideration the views of the fans etc.

When do the council ever listen to what local residents think though?

The woods near me is being built on despite having about 500 people against the development.

I hope residents are ignored in this case!

  17. Are you at either Stalybridge or Macc this week mate? If so I'll give you a ring on the day and sort you out with the full £13 up front. Won't get chance to catch you in the pub before the Wednesday game as I probably won't be able to get there till 5 or 10 mins after kick off.

    Me

Clougal (Put him down for a seat for the moment, txt messages take a while to get to bloody Detroit by the looks of things!)

    Danny and his Missus.

I'll let Rocky confirm Tivvy, Kemp and Amie and that lot.

And Chickers, there better be a good reason why your not on this bus. ie You need to save your money as your after buyin Waynes Car.
