  1. The only problem with today's prominent position is that the Flag can't be seen on video footage of games. When it's been in the RRE or Chaddy End, it has been seen clearly on goal footage. In years to come the Flag will be seen on that footage and Ernie's name will be there for posterity.

I think that's somrthing to consider when positioning it at BP for the remainder of the season.

Over the Away team dugout?

  2. Is Scotland not part of Britain?

Just because someone has an Asian name doesn't mean they're not British.

Even non-Brits are entitled to discuss whether British jobs should be for the British. If anything, they'd have just as much validity to do so...it's just as much about Brits as it is against non-Brits.

Of course you haven't explicitly said any of the above, it's just from what I've inferred from your comment. Please feel free to argue you didn't mean any of the above, or to rephrase your initial comment...

EDIT: I've just reread your initial comment. Maybe I jumped the gun a bit on the latter point...did you mean the discussion was whether British jobs should stay in Britain...i.e. don't move call centres abroad...or should be for the Brits? I think my underlying argument still stands though, even if the specifics are slighly different...

I have to say I have never been happy trying to access information from overseas call centres. However....there is a guy somewhere in India who helped me with a computer issue tonight and I have to say had more manners, enthusiasm and patience than I could have dreamt of. Customer services top man. He also said he has a decent left foot, can bowl a mean off break and bat a bit. So worth a look at for the left back spot and as an overseas for Lancy.

  3. It's nothing new. A lot of the really bad Chelsea lot they sent down about (getting old) a decade ago were professionals, solicitors, bankers and so on. And only the other month a former civil servant who associates with us was involved in a fracas in a pub

Spot on LL , they all plead innocence and try to win sympathy.....I think they should be banned especially the older hooligans who haven't learnt their lesson and still get asked to leave Pubs.

  4. john billington a managing director of a local engineering firm has admitted in court he threw a 50p coin at a linesman at an aston villa game after drinking 6 pints of beer during the day. suppose it goes to show that people who are ultimately banned from football grounds are from all walks of life. any comments please.

Tight Git, a quid at the very least...We are in a recession though.

  5. first 45 mins was fantastic, best game in a long long time..we played it on the floor in and around them and at times they looked like they had concrete in there boots...our movement on and off the ball was fantastic, lots of options.....

smalley on the wing was a breath of fresh air...a bit of pace and it worried them...

the strike pairing of windass n hughes was great to watch...hughes is class, windass was better...great awarness,no panic and simple layoffs and through passes....some really clever one touch stuff and was very unlucky not to score, think he hit the bar twice...

the game should have been dead and buried for half time, but it wasnt...and again the second half was less than impressive, again reverting to lumping it up in the air rather than pass it about, once we scored an own goal they ran at us and gave eardley a torrid time, they focused on him as the weak link and it nearly worked...

all in all a good win and 3 vital points....windass n hughes up front and i reckon were on for auto.

Reckon the TTA and Shez think the same.

  6. I get called for being too sceptical, question everything - assume nothing. For instance, I don't like people being duped by smooth talking con-men preying on the faith of good people, nor do I believe in homeopathy and otrher psuedo-sciences.

    Occam's Razor:

All other things being equal, the simplest solution is the best.

Dale Vince, founder of Ecotricity, said the company was keeping an open mind about the incident:

    Quite clearly, it doesn't.

After that statement UK "UFOlogists" are spouting crap about all sorts of mumbo jumbo, and whipping the locals into a frenzy...

Mr Palmer, presumably a local resident said:

    That'll be the moon then.

Russ Kellett, from the Flying Saucer Bureau ( :laught16: ), said witnesses had told him of activity in the area:

Probably all from the same nut-job. He went on...

If Footy68 or Tramdriver reads this, can I ask a question - if the blade is rotating, am I right to assume that the object does not need to be anywhere near 170ft long to hit two blades? It could be much, much smaller than that?

The MoD are not bothering with it anyway....

Whipping the locals into a frenzy, get em to come to Oldham. Loud banging on a Sunday morning....must have forgot the key

  7. Never seen it - I am not OPTA but know his stats on tackles on Satdi would have been bloomin near 100% - his passes were always to a blue shirt - but like I have said b4, we all watch different matches!

Lomax did ok considering he was at left back and can only use his right foot. Thought Orient may have exploited this weakness more than they did.

  8. I've said in the past £20 for Div 3 football is too expensive, however if the Club cannot fill the ground at £5 a ticket then you seriously have to wonder how the town of Oldham can continue to justify having a professional Football Club.

No excuses this Saturday...the Oldham public should wake up and back TTA before it's too late.

  9. Rest assured that Mike's favourite striker during Sharps playing days was Ian Marshall....he was the fastest.

I'm a big Gregan fan but he hasn't been himself of late. However, his performances have only deterioted to 'decent' rather than being 'immense' like they usually are. I still think to suggest he shouldn't be first choice (personal issues permitting) is crazy, and when the day comes that he isn't first choice he ought to be offloaded asap considering the wage I expect he pulls.

As for criticising his captaincy I just can't see the supposed issues. He's everything I would want in a captain and more, which (for me) is further reason on top of his ability for him to be first choice. I don't dispute he can be nasty to his poor team-mates, but that never much hampered Roy Keane (the best captain of all time?), who was also surrounded by much bigger egos. In some cases, egos nearly as big as Seans.......

    Or Schmeichel

  10. Having spent the day in Oldham and read the rarely wrong Chron from back to front, I've discovered the closely guarded secret of who is to switch on Oldham's Christmas lights. You're probably expecting one of the many actors turned out by Oldham's renowned Theatre Workshop, somebody from Corrie or Holyoaks. Or Paul Scholes, or even a Latics player or one of the Management team, or Chaddy the Owl....Oh no, sorry we've already heard that he's doing the honours in Chadderton.

So who could possibly be big enough to entice people out onf their cosy armchairs into the town centre at 5.20pm on Sunday. It would be unfair of me to keep you in suspense any longer. The switch is going to be flicked by..........................

    Noddy!

Bloody Noddy - he's not even a celebrity among the tiny tots who are not allowed out at that time of day!

I understand that when Noddy’s best friend heard the news, he couldn’t believe his Big Ears, Mr Wobbly Man went for a lie down and Mr Plod wet himself with laughter, as he went off looking for people driving two cars at the same time.

This must be the official confirmation that the Oldham authorities are content with the reputation of being like Toytown.

Don't knock it, he did have one of the greatest Christmas Hits ever .. Is he bringing the rest of Slade as well.
