Interfering meddling chairman have us in the position we are in, keep sacking the managers and blaming them but it doesn't solve the problem, AL forcing a load of crap players firstly on Shez and then on Wellens sealed our fate, I can guarantee you we would of had a very different season if Shez was allowed his one main transfer target instead of the clown we've got for a keeper now, clubs a joke and the one person who can change that is the owner.

    Spot on !

Worry is now with the owner bringing in to many foreign players  will he continue with this policy if so will we end up like Leyton Orient??????

Chairman now needs to come out and outline his plans for the club as of yet we have heard zilch & got relegated partly because of the above.

Partly ??? He's a bloody fool who thinks he's the manager.

Apart from his goal what did he do today? Fall over that's all he did. Can't miss a open goal so no credit to him. He's shite and weak

Well he could have missed it if he hadn't been in the right position to score it. A Johnny on the spot goal. Davies has never been a target man and we're expecting him to play that role. Granted he could and should have been better today but he was hardly the only one.

  4. Yes I went to Scarborough. Hitched it from York. Got a lift from John Flanagan. I wonder if he still goes? Remember Bobby Collins playing. Bright spot got back to York and got in free to see Roxy Music.

Also went to the game at South Shields. Drew 0-0. Lost the replay at BP. If you think it is bad now you didn't watch them then.

Bobby Collins played maybe as a sub I do remember him squaring up to one of their 6' defenders and nutting his kneecap. Latics had the ball in the net about three times in the second half every one ruled out for offside two of them very dubious. As for John Flanagan I've told you before he now lives in the Philippines so it's unlikely he goes I'd have thought. That said he's still keen and wears his Latics shirt and demands match reports every week.

  5. The Mills stuff will come out in wash, how he can be dropped in favour of the footballer Connor Brown is actually quite worrying and adds to the confusion I have over the Dunn love in. Bottom by the end of October is my prediction and Wigan will batter us next week.

Only a guess but it could be Dunn wasn't impressed with Mills gobbing off at Kelly during the Peterborough game. Kelly said something to Mills who then responded angrily. Not content with that he turned around and gave Kelly another gob full. If that is the reason then Dunn has got it spot on. Mills needs to grow up.

  6.

Royle effectively sacked him after that; he was sent off twice in a week. It quite possibly cost us promotion that year.

Indeed he did and Big Joe took the time out to explain to me just why Ron had to go there were other incidents as well. I had to smile a few weeks later when Joe presented me with a personally signed photo of Ron in his Bradford City kit. Obviously there were no hard feelings between them.

  7. When I first starting watching Latics I remember Ron Futcher being able to look after himself pretty well. I'm sure I remember him breaking someone's jaw in an off the ball incident.

His Wikipedia entry seems to back up my memory of him - "a gentleman off the pitch, he was a 'psychopath' on the field".

I think the broken jaw incident was an away match at Blackburn. Latics were attacking and one of their defenders had a dig at Ron in their penalty area. Their player then ran away to the halfway line with Ron in hot pursuit. He caught up with him in the centre circle and flattened him with a right hander. I liked Ron.......

  8. Derrick Parker, much expected, big disappointment.

Brian Kilcline, visions of him still gives me nightmares

Ndiwa Lord Kangana, another recurring nightmare.

    Jan Budz and Alan Blaney

    I'll not sleep tonight.

Yes Derrick Parker one of those players you knew was crap after only five minutes. Yet a Barnsley fan I knew was devastated when he left them for us.

  9. Alan Lawson. Who remembers the song we sang to the tune of Scottish Soldier.

    There was a half back

    A scottish half back

    And Lawson was his name

    and clogging was his game

    He came to Oldham

    When Celtic sold him

    he clogged them glorious

    he was victorious

    He clogged Jim Fryatt

    And Barry Stobart

    he sent them far away

    To the infirmary

    Happy days

I will never ever forget the clogging of Barry Stobart. A high ball they both went for and Lawson nutted the back of Stobart's head and you could hear it plainly from 40 yards away. Lawson rubbed his bonce and that was it but poor Barry was stretcher bound for the hospital. We were stood by the side of the tunnel when they stretchered him out and you feared for the lad he was gray coloured. Milnrow Blue, is that my old pal Bob ?

  10. Regarding the first goal Wilson has no room to talk as it was him who let the scorer drift off him That said Kean went for a ball he had no chance of winning something he did throughout the match. Another concern is when he saves at a stretch is that he often parries the ball back into the danger zone rather than away from it..In one recent home game he came out to the edge of his area to punch away a cross. Not his job to come that far he should have left it to the central defenders. Fortunately the ball just got away from an opposition player so he got away with it. I've not beem impressed with the lad I have to say, for me he's dodgy.

  11. Feels like we lost.Gutted after playing well up to the sending off .Thought Chubbs could have done better and nearly gifted them one in the first half. and same with Mellor for their second which I had a feeling they were going to get.

Pity we did not get that third when we were in control and came back to bite us in the arse.

Not just Mellor, George hardly helped matters by racing out towards the touchline for a ball he was never going to get and was then stranded out of position.
