From the chaddy, it looked like a 50/50 tackle and thats about it. their player went down, hudds surrounded the ref and he was off.
reminds me of the dale red last season when it looked like a nothing tackle until the tv replays so i'll wait to see that first but dickov didnt seem to be happy.
shame because he was having a great game too! did enough to get roberts subbed and a great assist, looks like he'll be good competition for black
Looked a definate red from where I was sat.

In 98-99 we were going down then we made the crucial signing of John Sheridan
Bang on with that mate, the problem is that the current crop of ageing players with Sheridan's class don't need the money to carry on playing at our level. And probably don't have the same love for the game either.

Jim's Programme Shop
Jim Kirton passed away in March 2002, I was one of his best customers. I'd often pop down in my lunch-hour to add to my collection and to have a chat about all things Latics, he was a true gent and is sadly missed by a lot of Latics fans.
I knew Jim for many years not only from Latics but from him being an avid record collector. He was notorious for only buying records in excellent nick and bypassing lesser condition. One memory I have of him is when he came out of a record shop in Manchester with a huge grin on his face because he'd just aquired one of his wants, no Cd's for Jim. Great guy, great mate, can't believe it's nine years since he passed on. Just one question......just how old was his crombie ?
-
I don't see that changing now, especially with a mere child as local leader
I think it's fair to say that Jim McMahon is only half the man Howard Sykes is.
-
Would you give him a new contract?,been pretty solid since coming back into the team or would you get rid?
No one would deny that Brill had a nightmare start at BP. Unfortunately this appears to have coloured people's opinions to this day. He's a decent shot stopper, is excellent on one on one situations but is prone to dithering on his line. Watching the FLS goalkeepers make gaffs every week, Gomez is PL and cocks up quite often. If people stopped trying to find fault with Brill for every single goal we concede they may very well see a decent keeper at League 1 level. I'd keep him.
-
Not all of them did though. It's true that fans have hounded most of our recent managers out, but not all the fans wanted it, and a lot of the fans who want to see a manager given a few years have been the same ones hounding the previous ones out because X Y or Z. What can you do?
John Sheridan should never have been sacked by Latics, yet another ridiculous error of judgement by our current owners, amongst the many.

I'd like to see Morais back to making the match-winning impact from the bench
He's good at that and the bench is where he belongs. Concedes possession far too easily, tires too quickly, is poor at tracking back and if I was a full back playing behind him I'd throttle him. He has attacking qualities but that's not enough in the modern game.

Time for a rest?
Can't be surprised at not scoring recently with a striker who's scored about 6 all season and none for the last god knows how many weeks alongside a winger.
Omar can't hold the ball up due to his clumsy feet but will run all day for the team. The lad needs a co striker with decent control and quick feet who can play him in. Not ideal but I'd give Lewi a shot.
-
Lee - Very average, with little willingness to overlap - 6
I'm not Lee's biggest fan but I don't blame him for holding back. When he did go forward no one filled in and it led to the second goal. And therein lies a lot of our problems in that our midfield four don't defend/trackback well enough. OK Morais scored, has a lot of skill but he concedes possession far too easily and fails to track back too often. White is only a kid but the same applies. Good teams defend from the front, something we consistently fail to do.
-
As for young Sam, I asked him if his mum knew he was out….he looks about 13!
And then he decked you......
-
He does have a very good point!
A better point would have been to question who was supposed to have been tracking their scorer and lost him. Another point is when a keeper comes flying out like that he has to get there and not left floundering leaving an unguarded net. I hope the ball boy doesn't read these comments and Furman should be ashamed of himself.
-
Just seen it and we need to tell the ball boys not to be so quick giving the opposition the ball back for quick throws!
How about telling our defenders not to go to sleep and telling our keeper not to make an unnecessary dash from his line.

What was it actually for? Saw Tounkara collapse into a heap but didn't see what Peter Gain actually did to get the sending off.
High tackle, stamped down on him, seemed to catch him above the knee. Nasty challenge, got what he deserved.

Could kibosh that idea then, but then there's that much land around there surely it can't all be earmarked as 'Industrial' only?
There is a huge amount around Stakehill, all farm land but I know the area well and I think access would be a problem. It's a shame about Stakehill because it's a ghost town now, and of course access is in place.
-
It's looking increasingly like we have no choice but to leave Oldham due to the club's ownership not being able to find suitable a 30 acre site in Oldham, the failings of OMBC and the impact of the NIMBYs
I could be mistaken but I think Stakehill is an Industrial zone only.
-
so our full-backs get caught out of position and get punished on the counter attack and it's all a central midfielders fault, I give up
No one said it was Tommy, but I take your point, our full backs were dreadfully exposed tonight. Going back to Stephens when things are going against you it's best to get back to basics and do the simple things rather than try extravagent passes.
-
He doesn't need resting...........He needs dropping!
Would agree if we had anyone to replace him. I don't think we have so I think Dickov should grab him by the throat and drum into him that he' isn't as good as he thinks he is. Play the simple ball instead of over ambitious passes that he doesn't have the ability to make.

thanks gregan
great servant to the club !
Indeed, and about the only player in recent seasons who I actually enjoyed watching. Commitment allied with class, a rare commodity at our level.
-
"It's a team game. Not just 1 player. They all make mistakes it's just some on here want to castigate or should that be castrate 1 player only for the result. ""
To be fair our fans recent record of castigating one player is pretty impressive. One recent recipitent of their ire was a full back by the name of Neal Eardley. Useless, crap, lazy, doesn't care, not good enough for League 1. Since Eardley has sunk into deserved obscurity no one could deny our experts have been proved correct.

Agreed as a former keeper he should have at least knocked it away from goal it was like 2 yards away from Brill. Poor 'keeping.
And as a former keeper, if Hazell or their striker (both three yards in front of Brill) had got a touch and deflected the ball inside the near post no doubt you'd have slagged him for diving for a ball that never reached him. Brill had two courses of action open to him both of which left him open to criticism from our unrealistic fans who are determined to examine every goal we concede and find a way to blame Brill. The lad is average, very average but criticism should be fair and level headed and in Brill's case, all too often it's anything but.
.
-
And Rochdale game when it went across.
Ridiculous to blame Brill for that goal. Hazell and their striker only just missed getting a touch on that cross. If Brill went for the cross the slightest of touches would have taken it inside the near post and Brill would have been slated for it. He stayed put, rightly, and gets slagged anyway. BTW, I don't rate Brill but some of the stick he gets is way OTT.

As for the second half, did we actually have a midfield on the pitch?
The writing was on the wall in the last 15 minutes of the first half when their midfield got a grip. I thought we needed another player in there but since Dickov has got us to 6th in the league I'm not inclined to argue too much. Stephens's form has dropped off but untill we realistically have someone to replace him he stays in.
-
anyone he has been :censored:e two games in a row now !
Now don't be bashful, suggest "anyone" because I can't think of anyone.
-
i stick to what i said dale stephens needs dropping !
To be replaced by who ?
The result is bad.. but not to bad
