  1. Every time Jones has played against us he's ran the show. Definitely worth signing as a squad player unless his legs have really gone. Nothing like a fitness test to prove it though. -
  2. That spare ball was thrown from our end after the extra time goal went in. Don't remember a ball being kicked out and not returned. Maybe some fans of ours bring balls along with them to confuse the oppo? -
  3. Wycombe's keeper was a tool of the highest order. Yes we have our numoties but there was no need for him to mouth off after the game for 10 mins, effing and jeffing. The biggest joke was his time wasting -
  4. Gary Nevillw us definitely not from Oldham. Thank the lord! Bury lad.
  5. Manc scumbag. He's just been saying that all this looting was down to these lads having no prospects then on the other hand saying the robbing was something to tell the grandkids. Glad it wasn't filmed in Oldham but embarrassing for all Latics fans.
  6. You're not on your own mate lol. Some people don't deserve a club to support. The criticism for Reid would be justified if he had played like he did against Sheff United. However, he seems to have taken advice on board and is at least putting effort in. That's all I ask. Some fans only breathe in order to vent abuse, it makes them feel better about themselves. Every team has its fair share of morons. I am not a 100 percent happy clapper but last night was a cause for celebration not more doom and gloom.
  7. Hi Lags, just to let you know I haven't had my badge. Appreciate your efforts, can you check I am on the list. Thanks John Melllor
  8. A lot of it was filmed in Ramsbottom for all those interested. John Simms' first words when entering the town was ":censored: hole". Don't know why the letter features the address at Bacup. Also filming took place in Radcliffe, Lees (I think), along the A627 and of course the mighty BP. I think it's a good drama, well worth watching.
  9. Aye to say Eards has played over 100 first team games and has played for his country (which is a problem for some of our fans apparently) at his age shows that he has some ability. I'll admit his positioning isn't great defensively but you cannot say that he is consistently poor........I believe he has impressed in a few games this season, although admittedly he's had some mares. Just needs to knuckle down and try and improve his game defensively. The fans that were having a big pop tonight certainly haven't helped. Not surprised he just trudged off the pitch tonight. I thought it would end up like the Phil Starbuck saga away at Wigan tonight but obviously it had a way to go before even matching that abuse.
  10. Whilst Eardley didn't have the greatest of games, tonight the reaction of a small section of our 'fans' was nothing short of disgraceful. It's fine to have a moan, but the grief the lad got tonight was in my opinion, out of order. Some fans don't deserve a team to support when they barrack a player non-stop. I dread to think what the reaction would be if we were bottom of the league.
  11. I agree that there are seemingly more unsavoury characters supporting the club this season. You only had to walk up Sheepfoot Lane after the match, to see such idiots. Hooliganism has always been there simmering under the surface but unfortunately inow it's now all too common. Banter with the away fans is part and parcel of football and I'm all for that but these characters have a vicious undercurrent. Maybe it's indicative of where we're at in society at the moment. Take the trouble that took place at Rochdale v Bury on Saturday - this is being replicated around the country at lower league level. Don't exactly know what happened in the RRE as I moved to the Main Stand for a change so can't really comment. The fact that the reports say we've got muppets throwing coins at 50 or so Morecambe fans isn't really suprising. I understand we have to attract more fans to the club and these herberts aren't making it an attractive proposition.
  12. I am absolutely devastated at the news of Ernie Cooksey passing away. The man is a true Latics legend and will be sorely missed by everyone. For his committed performances alone, he is up at the top of the list of my all time favourite players. I’ll never forget the vital goals he scored for our club and the way he could climb for a header was simply unrivalled. His first game for the club away at Rochdale in a friendly match was great to watch because of the drive and passion of one person alone – Ernie Cooksey. Ernie for England! My thoughts are with his family at this tragic time and the sad loss of a great individual who always played with a smile on his face and simply for the love of the game. So young to die, it is extremely heart-wrenching to lose such an inspirational man. OAFC should do something in remembrance of Ernie, the player that the fans loved. I am not alone in my sadness tonight. There’s only one Ernie Cooksey! A true inspiration to us all. RIP Ernie. John Mellor
  13. Think the fans have a direct correlation with the product on the pitch on occasions like this (after the Lord Mayor's show). So yes, whilst I agree that we didn't show anything today, if the atmosphere had been anything like it should have been, we might have got a much needed result. In my view - our home form is directly linked to both our formation/tactics at home and the morgue 'quick to criticise' atmosphere.
  14. Too true. I bet these latics 'fans' in question are sat back grinning with at such a fantastic win by the Red Scum today. I am even tempted getting a ticket near the singers next year. Although if the stand is knocked down, guess I'll end up in the main stand where similar lack of atmosphere will prevail. Don't fancy the Chaddy as I prefer the view along the side of the pitch. Remember the Cup Fever years of 1989/90 and 94? Much different from the 'fever' today. Much prefer those days...........
  15. Don't often post on here - just a reader. However, had to comment on the atmosphere today and some of the fans. I must say that some of our fans are a disgrace. Booing at the end, what is all that about? The atmosphere was non-existent - fair credit to the lads in the Uppers Lookers and the usual drummer et al in the Chaddy for at least making a stab. BP is like a morgue, there is no wonder the players don't seem to like playing there. Whilst we can say the poor home form is down to tactics etc, there must be some credence to the fact that the players struggle in front of a grumpy crowd. We have our fare share of moaners that still think we play in the Premiership, intent on having a pop if things aren't going own way. What happened to encouragement? Away support is much better and that is why I am looking forward to Yeovil away more than I am the next home league game. FFS I heard one guy going on about Allott saying he'd had a terrible game'. Mr Allott has been our best player for weeks. It's all about opinions but the booing is going too far. We have just beaten Leeds and Everton for god's sake. Walking to the ground I thought that today would be a good atmosphere, everyone celebrating the recent results and cheering on the lads to a victory. I now realise that I am very naive. I usually join in with all the singing where I sit in Lookers Lower, but it is always difficult because no-one really makes an effort at that side of the ground - bar the lads in the Upper Lookers. I was that angry with some of our fans at the end, I wanted to chin them. I'm usually a placid guy but these moaning gits are creating tension with the normal fans that do their utmost to support the team and have been doing for years. The home attendance too - absolutely appalling - hope those gloryhunters are sat back nicely in their armchairs. How many other clubs suffer from this problem? Huddersfield perhaps? Bet they had a big home support today after their cup win. I am speechless about some of our fans at the moment - yes, football is expensive but if 5,500 can afford a day out at Everton, then why not go to the follow up league game to celebrate that victory and cheer the lads on. If we get past Huddersfield and draw a big club in the 5th round - they'll all come out out of the woodwork and get their tickets. The way I am feeling tonight - the total opposite of last week. Thought our fans were great at Everton - terrible today. TTA must feel aggrieved at the attendance today - when our new stadium is opened - if people think we'll fill it, they're living in cloud cuckoo - even if we are in the Championship. Pathetic support today. Roll on Yeovil away and fans getting behind the team. Rammylatic
  16. Aye pal, I've already put my order in for the Chris Taylor t-shirt. Quite into tangerine coloured tops - well I suppose this has a tangerine trim if memory serves me right. Can't wait for the new away top to come out next season.
  17. It's a cracking term is that. I use that terminology at work a lot when I need to have a chill out from the day's stresses and strains. The best thinking time is spent sat in the gentleman's convenience. Speaking of work they're having a dress down day for Comic Relief tomorrow - as it's a Manchester company - it's a wear red or blue day, so there are no problems between City and United fans. Being the only Oldham fan in the office, I'll be quite isolated I feel. But I will wear my Latics shirt loud and PROUD
  18. Near me then, I'm about four rows up near the steps that go to the Royle Bar (which the Lower Paddock are now not allowed in I'm told). I even got stopped by a steward going to the gentlemen's convenience a few home games ago. If you sit round that area you'll be aware of the Bobby Ball soundalike then - he is always piping up during the game, usually berating the ref - all he needs is some braces to pull. Blue ones preferably.
  19. Cheers guys. Go on tell me how to creat these custom emoticons then. Quite like them. As for the Lookers Paddock, I think it gives one of the better views of the game. I sit quite near to the halfway line - certainly a better view than in the Chaddy. The only trouble with it, is there are some right moaners in there. I hear it's coming down at the end of the season. Then it'll be decisions, decisions. Perhaps I'll go in the Main Stand and reminisce about the last time I went in there in the 89-90 season when I used to take my blue gordon the gopher lookalike with me and squeak it when we scored. And I was 21 at the time. Nah, I was only a young pup really. You might have guessed already that I am slightly deranged. Well, I guess you have to be as a Latics' fanatic and the experience of those rollercoaster rides. Rammy
  20. Hello everyone - another new member to add to the growing list. Regular peruser of the JK site and an occasional poster, thought I'd take a peek at the OWTB revolution that everyone seems to be raving on about. Ex Roytoner, season ticket holder in the Lookers Paddock and regular frequenter to away games. Unfortunately, can't do the next two London trips tho! Let's hope we can get a result against what is a very unpredictable Orient side that looked mightily impressive at Boundary Park! Rammy
